Doświadczenie sztuki w fenomenologii kontr-intencjonalnej i nie-intencjonalnej

Doświadczenie sztuki w fenomenologii kontr-intencjonalnej i nie-intencjonalnej

Author(s): Andrzej Krawiec / Language(s): Polish Issue: 61/2023

The article raises the subject of intentionality of art in the light of transformations that counter-intentional phenomenology and non-intentional phenomenology have undergone. The changes to the way intentionality was understood substantially influenced aesthetic reflection and for that reason the starting point for the article is the analysis of Edmund Husserl’s intentional phenomenology followed by counter-intentional phenomenology of Jean-Luc Marion and non-intentional phenomenology of Michel Henry. Next, we will analyse how the ideas were absorbed by the developing phenomenological reflection on art, which paradoxically resulted in counter-reduction of the world and existential opening to experiencing its contents thanks to art. At the same time, the changes in understanding intentionality opened new directions for research into the intentionality of art itself. Therefore, the article aims at pointing towards contemporary research areas for phenomenological aesthetics and also indicates major methodological problems related to counter-intentional and non-intentional research perspective.

Selected Representations of the Phenomenological Orientation of Polish Pedagogical Thought

Selected Representations of the Phenomenological Orientation of Polish Pedagogical Thought

Author(s): Jarosław Gara / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

This article indicates the basic premises and differentiating contexts that underlie the conceptual specificity of phenomenological pedagogy. In this context, three original positions of phenomenological orientation in Polish pedagogical thought have been presented. In accordance with their specific features, the first position refers to the phenomenological problematization of issues related to pedagogical axiology in a particular way, the second position refers to issues associated with pedagogical teleology, while the third relates to matters connected to pedagogical anthropology. Each of these positions is based on original theoretical solutions that have raised interest and initiated discussion on phenomenological pedagogy in Polish literature, beginning in the 1980s.

Problematika utjelovljenja u online gleda(c)torstvu

Problematika utjelovljenja u online gleda(c)torstvu

Author(s): Mihai Băcăran / Language(s): English Issue: 22/2023

Digital media, and especially the widespread use of the internet, challenge our experience of embodied presence and consequently force us to rethink the definition of the ‘human’ body that informs our social practices. Starting from the online documentations of Guy Ben-Ary’s bio-artwork cellF (2015), Alvin Lucier’s seminal experimental music piece Music for Solo Performer (1965), and Stelarc’s performance RE-WIRED / RE-MIXED (2015) the present article participates in this debate by asking: what type of embodied identity is contoured in online specta(c)torship? From a methodological point of view, the article resonates with Mieke Bal’s insistence on the importance of the case study in art theory and in the philosophy of art. It aims at performing a philosophical intervention with respect to the contemporary understanding of embodiment starting from the experience proposed by the encounter with specific artworks. Drawing on the case studies mentioned above and on theories of embodiment formulated in a diversity of contexts — such as affect theory (Seigworth and Greg, Clough), feminist critique (Grosz, Butler), performance studies (Salazar Sutil) and the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze —, the article contends that the problematic of the embodied subject, such as it appears in online specta(c)torship, is that of an ongoing misrecognition: an ongoing decentring of the thinking subject (of the cartesian cogito) in a continuous renegotiation of the bio-techno-logical ‘self’ that grounds the ‘I’ and is in turn grounded by it.

Strategijske dileme kulturne politike sustava audiovizualne djelatnosti u Republici Hrvatskoj

Strategijske dileme kulturne politike sustava audiovizualne djelatnosti u Republici Hrvatskoj

Author(s): Edib Ahmetašević / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 22/2023

The cultural policy of the Republic of Croatia in the field of audio-visual activities, as the nation has passed through transition, has left an indelible mark on the overall area of audio-visual activities in a number of ways. Following the fall of Socialism, which implied the systematic transition of the former countries within the Socialist system towards various models of Capitalism, structural transitions also occurred as a result of global changes. With these changes, the national cultural policy pertaining to audio-visual activities was also affected. The disorientation of cultural policy decelerated, or completely halted, the development of audio-visual activities towards the creative industry. The disorientation of cultural policy arose as the result of irresponsible social conduct, the lack of respect for cultural diversity, underdeveloped ties between the public, private and civil sectors, and an absence of strategic cultural policy. In order to develop the creative industry, it is necessary to implement audio-visual activities both efficiently and effectively. To do so, it is necessary to redefine, developcand implement a set of strategies and instruments in the cultural policy of the Republic of Croatia in the field of audio-visual activities. An interdisciplinary approach that ties together the integral theories of social contractsvand dilemmas of contemporary cultural policy in the field of audio-visual activities indicates the importance of social responsibility, particularly for the private sector, which plays an important role in the development of the film industry as a profit-oriented cultural industry. Proposal: the development of the creative industry in the field of audio-visual activities in the Republic of Croatia is not possible without balanced activities of a strategic cultural policy, which will aim to create a balance between the aesthetic and market values of the audio-visual activities.

ОДНОС СПОРТА И ПР-А У САВРЕМЕНОМ ДРУШТВУ: ЦИЉЕВИ И ПОСЛЕДИЦЕ

Author(s): Slobodan Penezić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2021

This article briefly seeks to shed some light on the position of sport in contemporary society, considering it in the context of the relationship between this sphere of society (sport) and the field of Public Relations. With that intention, we investigate key features of modern sports events and the aspects on which they connect with the so-called PR industry, which are, at the same time, based on the origins of that relationship. The analysis of key trends and consequences of the processes that are realized within that relation (sport-PR), indicates the basic mechanisms that drive them, but also thenumerous negativities that occur along the way, due to the reversal of the original logic of both areas. In this regard, the role of professional ethics is considered, as a barrier to these, negatively oriented processes, but also as a basis for returning that logic to the original meaning of sports, PR, and their relationship; and thus, the prevention of social anomalies that arise today from that relationship, which we all witness every day.

Intermedialita kaligrafických inspirací v poválečném umění a filosofickém diskursu

Author(s): Petra Polláková / Language(s): Czech Issue: 1/2021

In this study, based on my dissertation thesis, I focus on the issues of circulation and various methods of appropriating calligraphic practices within the framework of transnational art history, predominantly in the context of the post-war European and North American art scenes. Due to the multi-layered and intermedia nature of the topic of calligraphic inspirations, I have chosen the motif of the circle as a certain unifying element, through which I attempt to reflect the given issue within two distinct circles. The first topic is the examination of the possibilities of artistic or philosophical expression of the ontological meaning of corporeality and the circularity of the body in the process of creation. The circle also reflects the issue of periodic renewal and regeneration of mythical and historical time. I examine the issue of the cyclical nature of time in the context of post-war art, when the necessity of a new beginning arose, which would not only enable a deeper intercultural dialogue, but also strengthen the need to re-examine the original artistic roots and sources.

Anthropogenic Worlds of Transformation and Destruction: Doris Lessing’s Climate Fiction Duology

Anthropogenic Worlds of Transformation and Destruction: Doris Lessing’s Climate Fiction Duology

Author(s): Kübra Baysal / Language(s): English Issue: 15/2022

Depicting a world stricken with an ice age in the North and drought in the South, Doris Lessing’s Mara and Dann: An Adventure (1999) recounts the survival story of two siblings, Mara and Dann, amidst un/natural and societal havoc. The sequel, The Story of General Dann, Mara’s Daughter, Griot, and the Snow Dog (2005) pictures the dramatic transformations both in the nonhuman nature and the protagonists’ lives after the devastating disasters in the first novel. Migrating among thousands of people from the south towards northern Ifrik and passing through desolate lands scorched with drought, 4re, 3ood, and diseases in Mara and Dann, the protagonists mature as they learn to live in a perilous and erratic world populated with survivalists solely focused on personal gain. Through the horrendous picture of an Ifrik parched with drought in the South and frosted with a solid layer of ice at the top north, the novel pictures the helplessness of humankind through Mara and Dann’s quest for life in the face of unstoppable and inevitable environmental calamities. With the melting of the ice in the Northern Yerrup and the flooding in the Northern Ifrik, General Dann delivers Dann’s struggle to cope with his personal loss as the world changes once again, and the climate gets cooler. Obsessed with knowledge and set on to save a library, he races against time, human beings, and the hostile nonhuman environment. In this light, this study aims to analyse Doris Lessing’s climate fiction (cli-fi) duology, Mara and Dann: An Adventure and General Dann and Mara’s Daughter, Griot, and the Snow Dog as climate fiction novels reflecting the destructive impact of climate change on humans and nonhuman nature in the anthropogenic conditions of the fictional world, which is not a far cry from our world in the twenty-first century.

Ekowidmontologia jako strategia lektury. Studium przypadku „Kości, które nosisz w kieszeni” Łukasza Barysa

Author(s): Mateusz Adam Michalski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 15/2022

The article is an attempt to reflect on the relationship between the subject and the environment in a state of crisis on example of the novel by Łukasz Barys entitled The Bones You Carry in Your Pocket. The author proposes a psychoanalytic reading strategy, the main theme of which are ‘spectres’ (Derrida) associated with the traumogenic relationship between the ‘I’ and nature. Be text analyses climate catastrophe in the context of hyperobject theory (Morton) and their entanglement in local structure.

O kryzysie klimatycznym z perspektywy nieetnocentrycznej (na przykładzie filmu anime „Nausicaä z Doliny Wiatru” Hayao Miyazakiego)

Author(s): Anna Filipowicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 15/2022

The article raises the problem of non-Eurocentric approaches to natural disasters – treating them as ordinary rather than traumatic events. For some archaic (indigenous) types of thinking, fundamental changes taking place in the environment do not cause the cessation of relations with nature and involve the need to constantly adapt to its conditions, even at the expense of one’s own welfare or living. Hayao Miyazaki’s anime film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind also discusses this issue. The animistic thinking about the environment (Japanese Shintoism) shown in it opens a reflection on the possibility of considering old worldviews in the reflection on the ethical future of man on the eve of the climate collapse.

Drugie pokolenie” katechetów wobec przemian społeczno-kulturowych w Autonomii Galicyjskiej (1867-1918). Ciągłość instytucji a dynamika zmian

Author(s): Czesław Chrząszcz,Grzegorz Godawa / Language(s): Polish Issue: 8/2022

Religious education in secondary schools in the Autonomy of Galicia (1867–1918) was provided by two generations of catechists. The first of them performed their duties in the environment conducive to the static forms of work. In the last decade of the 19th century, irreversible cultural and social changes started to take place. The relevance of attitudes and methods adopted at that time was questioned. These changes were directly related to the dynamic growth in the number of students and the development of the educational infrastructure. The change in the catechists’ attitudes was reconstructed. It was based on the analysis of historical sources, which made it possible to determine and characterise the “second generation” of catechists. The new generation of priests who started to work at the turn of the century were well-educated and had the courage to undertake the new forms of work with the youth. This generation developed innovative methods of both school and out-of-school educational influences and succeeded in reaching the youth with the message about permanent values in a new, attractive way. Such educational activities are an example of pedagogical conservatism which assumes that permanence and dynamism are two elements of the same reality.

Koncepcje wychowania estetycznego w Królestwie Polskim w dobie przemian modernizacyjnych na przełomie XIX i XX wieku

Koncepcje wychowania estetycznego w Królestwie Polskim w dobie przemian modernizacyjnych na przełomie XIX i XX wieku

Author(s): Aneta Bołdyrew,Joanna Falkowska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 8/2022

The article presents the most important concepts of aesthetic education in the Kingdom of Poland in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The analysis covers both the already known texts of educators and art theorists, as well as those that have not been the subject of historical and pedagogical research so far. As aesthetic education is one of the main directions of modern education, the authors presented the relationship between the socio-cultural changes typical of modernity in the fin de siècle period and the circumstances of formulating the educational ideal of homo aestheticus. The Western European roots of this ideal and its reception in Polish literature are shown. Concepts and practical ways of implementing aesthetic education in dissertations and in the press are an important element of Polish pedagogical reflection on education through art. Their authors promoted the universal value of the idea of aesthetic education and emphasized its importance for the holistically understood education of the young generation.

Aequitas canonica and Access to the Sacrament of Penance during the First Wave of COVID-19 in 2020 in the Light of the Principles of Canon Law

Author(s): Damián Němec / Language(s): English Issue: 8/2022

Epidemiological measures during the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic in 2020 significantly affected the realization of religious freedom, including religious services and sacraments. This paper deals with one narrower topic in this area, namely, the regulation of access to the sacrament of penance in response to measures of secular law. It focuses mainly on the modalities of allowing access to this sacrament in the Catholic Church, both in terms of universal law and in terms of particular law and proposals for its formulation.

Kulisy powstania koalicji rządu Tadeusza Mazowieckiego w świetle dokumentów Obywatelskiego Klubu Parlamentarnego oraz Krajowej Komisji Wykonawczej NSZZ „Solidarność”

Author(s): Tomasz Kozłowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 11-12/2020

The article analyses the background of the formation of Tadeusz Mazowiecki’s government and the internal discussions in the “Solidarity” camp preceding this event. The key issue is to describe the relationship between the various bodies of the trade union: its president, the national authorities and the parliamentary club. The dynamics of the functioning of the “Solidarity” camp in that period anticipated the conflicts, which eventually led to its disintegration. The article is mainly based on archival sources: the documentation of the Civic Parliamentary Club and the National Executive Committee of NSZZ (Independent Self-Governing Trade Union) “Solidarity”.

Metaphors Shaping Modern Architecture in Interwar Romania. Mental models and architectural discourse

Metaphors Shaping Modern Architecture in Interwar Romania. Mental models and architectural discourse

Author(s): Valentin Popescu / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

In X-ray Architecture, Beatriz Colomina does a psychoanalysis of the image of the TB patient but also of other diseases (including mental) and of the mental associations induced by them, associations and representations that influenced modern architecture. If such hygienic concerns influenced the production, affirmation and supremacy of the Modern Movement in the Western world, in Romania it was more about the dissemination and adaptation of Western ideas to another urban fabric and other traditions. Apart from the sanatorium perspective, another important metaphor used for the theoretical definition and affirmation of modern architecture in Romania was the metaphor of the machine (to be lived in but not only). We can talk about the impact of these two metaphors that frame the discourse and creation of architects from interwar Bucharest and Romania.

Етични и правни проблеми, свързани със субектността и изкуствения интелект

Author(s): Veselina Slavova,Darina Dimitrova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2023

AI enters more and more spheres of personal and public life, the topic becomes the object of much discussion. The expanding possibilities of these technologies give rise to the need to introduce ethical and legal regulation in order to control them. Hence the question arises as to how far a system can be considered an autonomous entity, similar to the individual possessing this capability. This article examines the question of whether a system with artificial intelligence can be considered a subject in ethical and legal aspect. The aim is to demonstrate the difference between human thinking and behaviour and the activities performed by AI systems in order to outline a framework with ethical and legal norms governing the creation and use of AI. By applying a multidisciplinary approach combining the analysis of philosophical and legal notions of the subject, concepts such as intellect, autonomy, moral and legal responsibility are explored. The conclusion is that no matter how developed these systems are, they cannot be defined as subjects because they cannot perform fully conscious acts and cannot be held morally or legally responsible.

Irritability (Need) and An-irritability (Fatigue): A Disorder of Rhythms – the Ontological Burnout

Author(s): Marina Christodoulou / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2023

In this paper, I propose to bring forward the symptom of fatigue, and/or exhaustion and burnout, brought up by the social-cultural speeds, rhythms, and acceleration, that manifests not only as quotidian tiredness and fatigue but also as what I will call an ontological burnout, that is, as an exhaustion of being as being. I will also refer to the concept of irritability and how I associate it with need, and to the concept of an-irritability (the absence of irritability) and how I associate it with fatigue. In other words, how over-irritability or excessive irritability, mostly as encountered in humans, is a disorder of (bio)-rhythms, and how the constant, intensive satisfaction of need(s) leads to fatigue.

Въведение към една дълбинна онтология на изкуството

Author(s): Nikifor Avramov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2023

I present the concept of creative art as a junction of the fundamental situations that make of art – art. I shed light on the concept through connecting creation, as an impulse corresponding to the concept of φύσις, to art, as a frame corresponding to νόμος and the human form. I demonstrate that the concept, as much as it presupposes a depth ontology (possible as a metaphysically reflected ontology) speaks of categorical dyads, such as those of inner and outer, and immaterial and material. The later I consider as already grasped by the metaphysics of antiquity, according to which I therefore clarify the historical situation of my attempt: the reflection of the continuation of the metaphysical tradition through the topic of art, considering how this tradition always pushed itself against the consideration of art in its metaphysical light.
