Author(s): Mehmet Akif Gündüz,Salih Kalayci,Bilge Afşar / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 4/2017

Agricultural goods are so significant export output in order to compensate trade deficit in terms of balance of payments in developing countries. In this context, the impact of oil price and exchange rates on agricultural goods have been discussed in this paper. Agricultural good is determined as dependent variable and oil price and exchange rates are determined as independent variable. Multivariate regression test is implemented in order to reveal the effect of oil price and exchange rates on agricultural goods. Data are derived from International Trade Center as monthly and they all used in econometrical analysis. Besides, Johansen co-integration test is used to comprehend long-term relationship between relevant variables. After determining that the VAR analysis is stationary, both impulse response and variance decomposition analysis are implemented to reply which independent variable influences more the dependent variable comparing other independent variable. In this work, according to all empirical results, there is long-term relationship between variables and both oil price and exchange rates affect agricultural goods. To sum up, agricultural goods are essential by providing energy resources and its strategical importance to increase competition among international markets. The production of agricultural goods are so vital via petroleum resources which increases strategic advantage of its significance. Therefore, agricultural goods exporting countries should develop supportive policy for producing agricultural goods due to lack of petroleum resources.

Everyone has a responsibility to leave a better society and a better world for future generations. This responsibility becomes functional with the lifestyle that people prefer. The lifestyle approach helps to map how sustainable consumer behavior works in a more comprehensive way. In this context, this research aims to measure the effect of people's lifestyle on sustainable consumption behavior. Within the scope of the research, face to face questionnaire was conducted with 366 participants living in Sivas province. For the analysis of the obtained data, exploratory factor analysis, independent sample t test, One Way Anova analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. According to the results of t test and anova analysis, lifestyle and sustainable consumption behaviors differ according to demographic characteristics; like gender, age, education, income and occupation. Furthermore, according to regression analysis results, it is found that there is a meaningful and positive relationship between the dimension of "consciousness" and reusability, "healthy nutrition" and also between "consciousness" dimension and the environmental awareness behavior, "communication and positivity", "spiritual development" and "healthy nutrition" dimensions and saving behavior; but that there is no meaningful relation between lifestyle and non-need-taking behavior.

Aktywność społeczna jako element kształtowania tożsamości terytorialnej na przykładzie obszarów wiejskich województwa wielkopolskiego

Author(s): Iwona Józefowicz,Hanna Michniewicz-Ankiersztajn / Language(s): Polish Issue: 66/2023

Territorial identity is a phenomenon that can be considered on many levels. It is assumed that, geographically, it is treated as the occurrence of interpersonal or social contacts that are assigned to specific spaces. Identity is therefore measured by the degree of participation of the local community in the social and cultural life of the area. The aim of this study is to characterise the social activity of the inhabitants of rural areas of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship in the field of culture as a factor in building territorial identity. A set of formal characteristics defining social networks in rural areas was selected from the data available in the LDB and analysed spatially. In addition, an indicator method based on Perkal’s model was used.As a result of the study, no direct relationship was found between the functional type of the rural municipality and participation in culture, although the values of the synthetic indicator make it pos-sible to note that in areas with typically agricultural functions the cultural activity of the inhabitants is relatively high. Higher values of the cultural participation indicator are also recorded in proximity to cities, in municipalities with a residential function. In spatial terms, it can be concluded that the highest level of territorial identity is characteristic for inhabitants of municipalities located in periph-eral zones of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship and rural municipalities with dominant extensive agriculture located in the east of the voivodeship.

Gospodarstwa opiekuńcze jako perspektywiczny kierunek rozwoju usług społecznych w środowisku wiejskim

Gospodarstwa opiekuńcze jako perspektywiczny kierunek rozwoju usług społecznych w środowisku wiejskim

Author(s): Gabriela Czapiewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 67/2023

The aim of the article is to present the issue of the development of social services in rural areas in Poland based on the resources and infrastructure of farms. The study is an attempt to capture the essence of social farming, with particular emphasis on care farms and defining their role in the ru-ral environment. The article presents initiatives undertaken by the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Agricultural Advisory Center and the Agricultural Advisory Center in Brwinów. Pilot projects implemented in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship are an example of an innovative solution in the field of senior pol-icy and supporting people with intellectual disabilities, while the experiences related to the operation of the Educational Farm Network emphasize the important role of farms in the education process. The article combines theoretical considerations with a description of practical solutions. A care farm is a special type of social agriculture, combining the multifunctionality of farms with care and health services and, at the same time, social entrepreneurship. An important element in care agriculture is the use of the farm’s potential to conduct therapeutic, caring and integrative activities. Socially infolved agriculture is a chance for farmers to provide new services and thus expand and diversify their activities and a multifunctional role in society. The possibility of conducting additional activity in many farms will improve the economic situation of entire local communities. In addition, the num-ber and level of social services offered in rural areas will also increase. Care farms play an important role in the context of challenges related to aging societies, resulting in limited labor resources and an increase in the number of people requiring support (disabled, at risk of exclusion, seniors). The devel-opment of care farms will improve the quality of life in rural areas and solve the problems of inequality in access to social services. To achieve the aim of the study, the analysis of subject literature and source materials as well as the descriptive and comparative method were used as research methods.

THE JOINT OPERATING ENVIRONMENT 2008 - CHALLENGES AND IMPLICATIONS FOR THE FUTURE JOINT FORCE

Author(s): Not Specified Author / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2009

Trend analysis is the most fragile element of forecasting. The world’s future over the coming quarter of a century will be subject to enormous disruptions and surprises, natural as well as man-made. These disruptions, and many other contiguous forces, can easily change the trajectory of any single trend. The Joint Operating Environment recognizes that many, if not all, of the trends and trajectories of the future will be non-linear. But for the purpose of analysis, it has used a traditional...

Formation of Professional Skills of Agricultural Engineers during Laboratory Practice when Studying Fundamental Science

Author(s): Ivan Beloev,Oksana Bulgakova,Oksana Zakhutska,Mária Bondár,Lesia Zbaravska / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2024

The article deals with the problems of organizing and conducting professionally oriented laboratory classes in fundamental sciences, in particular physics in agricultural and technical universities. The research aim is to theoretically substantiate and develop the methodology for the formation of professionally oriented experimental skills of future agricultural engineers in the process of performing laboratory work in physics in the conditions of the integration of fundamental and professional training. To achieve the research aim, we used the following research methods: theoretical (comparative analysis of scientific, methodological and pedagogical literature) and empirical (observation, analysis, survey of respondents, generalization and modeling of research results, generalization of pedagogical learning experience). In order to select and understand the experiment results, we conducted a survey of teachers and students in order to reveal their understanding of the importance of studying physics for future professional activities. The analysis of the content of physics curricula and other subjects of the natural mathematical and professional cycles of training made it possible to determine the topics that can be supplemented at laboratory classes in physics (these additions are aimed at the formation of practical skills, which are a necessary component of the professional competence of future specialists in the agricultural sector). The professional orientation in teaching natural sciences involves studying the science basics in an organic connection with the specifics of the future profession. The research experimentally proved that the practical focus of teaching physics changes the student’s attitude to theoretical training, helps him discover the deep internal interdependence of theory with future professional activity, his training as a specialist.

Contradictions in the evolution of the CAP

Contradictions in the evolution of the CAP

Author(s): Fernando Moreno Mozo / Language(s): English Issue: 2 (33)/2023

The subject of this article is contradictions in the evolution of the Common Agricultural Policy. The considerations aim to identify these contradictions and their negative consequences. Starting from the peculiarities of the demand for agricultural produce, the author discusses the importance of the Common Agricultural Policy and presents six successive phases of its development. He concludes with a synthesis of the contradictions of the CAP evolution and their negative consequences. He also raises a question as to whether it would be possible to subject commercial activity in agriculture, like in other sectors of the economy, to free competition among a group of states or globally, on the assumption that such competition would be reciprocal and subject to the same standards of quality and food safety.

Prawne pojęcie obszarów wiejskich i kształtowanie go pod wpływem polityki Unii Europejskiej

Author(s): Justyna Goździewicz-Biechońska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1 (34)/2024

The aim of this article is to define the legal meaning of the term “rural area” and to present the main concepts of this notion that function in law, taking into account the influence of EU policies, especially the Common Agricultural Policy, on their formation. The author analyses the different concepts of rural areas in law, and focuses on three main ones: the administrative, the functional and the comprehensive one. She concludes that it is difficult to define rural areas unambiguously and in a manner that would be universally accepted within the entire legal system. This is because there are various interpretations determined by the objectives of their delimitation and the specificity of legal regulations. The comprehensive concept of rural areas is considered to be the most broadly understood. Furthermore, the author notes that the changes in the conceptualisation of rural areas in law (including agricultural law) and in European Union policy reflect the directions of socio-economic and cultural changes taking place in the rural community.

Płatność do powierzchni upraw konopi

Płatność do powierzchni upraw konopi

Author(s): Monika Łata / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1 (34)/2024

The aim of the considerations is to determine the legal nature of the payment for hemp acreage in the light of EU and national law and to formulate an answer to the question whether the legal construction of this payment is in line with the objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy for 2023–2027. In conclusion, the author found, inter alia, that these payments have a conditional character. Indeed, the legislator burdens the agricultural producer with the risk of not receiving any area payments on the area of hemp cultivation. The granting of support is determined by the percentage content of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol in the cultivated variety of hemp, which is variable and de facto independent of the farmer. This contradicts the objectives of the CAP, such as promoting fair farm incomes and the resilience of the agricultural sector across the Union, or increasing market orientation and ensuring the competitiveness of farms. The author points out the inconsistency of the Polish regulation of fibre hemp with EU law. Thus, it is postulated that the definition of ‘qualifying hectare’ in relation to hemp in EU law should be clarified, the EU method of verifying Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol content should be implemented into the Polish legal order in a comprehensive manner and the provisions of the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction should be adjusted to the new conditions.
