Pedagogiczne implikacje teorii dezintegracji pozytywnej Kazimierza Dąbrowskiego

Author(s): Dominik Chojnowski / Language(s): Polish

In this book I analyze Kazimierz Dąbrowski’s theory of positive disintegration with special regard to its pedagogical implications to modern social science. Although this concept gained recognition in the world of science, its reception is being undertaken mainly outside of borders of our country. It deals with the subject of ontogenetic development of human. In the background of other theories of this type it stands out, for it understands large part of mental disorders, especially neuroses and psychoneurosis, in a positive way. Hence it defines mental health and mental illness in a different way. It states that part of mental disorders disintegrating ones psyche have crucial meaning for acceleration of ones development. This way of thinking this theory also transfers to area of issues concerning education, especially issue of talented students and how educational methods affect them. This results with extensive pedagogical implications. The main aim of this work is to show original concept of prominent Polish scholar in educational context. I search for an answer to a question whether its application in pedagogics and education is beneficial as opposed to its being obsolete and not fit to be used. Research method that I use in this book is hermeneutic analysis of Dąbrowski’s works based on interpretation and understanding of his texts as objectified cultural sources. Therefore I analyze author of positive disintegration works and I bring out these contents that give me insight into his understanding of educational and social issues and how they fit into todays social sciences and educational practice.

Związki intymne młodzieży

Author(s): Barbara Jankowiak / Language(s): Polish

The book Adolescents’ Intimate Relationships. A Theoretical and Empirical Study deals with various aspects of how present-day teenagers function in love and sexual relationships. The emergence of a strong interest in potential intimate partners and a growing sexual need are extremely characteristic of adolescence and motivate teenagers to flirt, date, talk about love and sexuality with their peers, very strongly involving them behaviorally as well as emotionally and cognitively. This makes it all the more surprising that adolescent romantic relationships have so far not received as much attention from researchers as adults’ intimate relationships. Although most of the current findings indicate that adolescents' romantic relationships are important for their future lives, the importance of the issue of adolescent love has so far been recognized by book authors and film scriptwriters rather than by researchers. The present book aims to fill this gap. It consists of fourteen chapters. The first six are devoted to analysis of a theoretical and diagnostic nature. Chapters seven to fourteen provide a description of the methodological assumptions (chapter seven) and an analysis and interpretation of the research findings.

This publication is a collection of theoretical and research analyses concerning how contemporary youth functions in a dynamically changing socio-cultural reality. The articles included in the volume focus on two problem areas: youth in relation to the changes of the modern world and youth in the context of selected educational issues. The topics discussed in the first part of the monograph focus on phenomena and processes that determine the fate of young people today (and not only), set trends and directions of aspirations. These include the SARS- CoV-02 pandemic, multiculturalism, globalisation, and the escape into the virtual world. In light of the specific nature of these circumstances, the authors of these articles reflect on the modern-day generation of young people based on change. The second part of the publication concerns issues connected to how young people function in the educational system and upbringing-related issues connected with the adolescence period. What comes through in all the texts is the need to design new educational solutions for young people relating to the changes in the contemporary world.

Dorosłe dzieci więźniów. Analiza doświadczeń biograficznych

Author(s): Angelika Cieślikowska-Ryczko / Language(s): Polish

The study entitled Adult Children of Prisoners. Analysis of Biographical Experiences, the issue of the prison crisis of families is discussed. On the basis of the reconstruction of the biographies of adults who have experienced the incarceration of a parent, various strategies for the reconstruction of family relations were characterised, as well as the difficulties and failures associated with the interruption and loss of bonds. Assuming that the incarceration of a parent affects different spheres of functioning of adult children of prisoners, the focus was on the processual and multidimensional nature of this event in the narrators' lives. The main aim of the study was to identify and characterise the significance of the parent's incarceration in the life experiences of the narrators. The potential of biographical research, and in particular the assumptions of Fritz Schütze's biographical sociology, was used to realise this aim. In collecting and analysing empirical data, the method of autobiographical narrative interviewing was used. As a result, the monograph consists of four main parts: (1) a review of the literature on the situation, place and role of prisoners' families in the process of penitentiary isolation; (2) a theoretical-methodological study focused on the interactional research perspective; (3) an analysis of the results of own research presenting the reconstruction of narrators' biographies; and (4) an extended note on the analysis of linguistic structures.

What Would Hercules Do?

Author(s): Susan Deacy / Language(s): English

One day, according to the Ancient Greek author Xenophon, the hero Hercules “went out to a quiet place and sat, pondering”. This book explores what happened here and how and why it can resonate with autistic young people. The book presents a set of ten lessons, each dealing with an aspect of what happened when Hercules entered the quiet place, met two women (or goddesses, or personifications…) and was tasked to make a choice between two paths, literal and metaphorical. The lessons deal, too, with particular dimensions of autism, including: communicating, emotions, decision-making, sensory experiences, planning and interests. This pathbreaking book should be of particular interest to professionals and practitioners looking to utilize the appeal of mythology in their work with autistic children and academics in areas such as education, Classics and literature interested in the experiential application of their subject.

Škola, ideje a hodnoty ve věku tl;dr: Esej

Author(s): Zdeněk Ježek / Language(s): Czech

In the world that offers us an abundance of information, opinions or attitudes, what can be trusted to? Does the school education provide any sufficient tools to find a way in this flood of information? Is it possible to use common sense to fight with misinformation? Furthermore, are not the metaphors of a flood and a fight only linguistic devices shifting the meaning of the entire subject matter from rationality to emotionality? The society of the 21st century has to cope with many pitfalls. One of them is the oversaturation with information, in which a nonexpert has no chance to find a correct one – but at the same time, everyone faces not only to the possibility, but rather to the obligation to opt an opinion. In public discussion, a simplification frequently occurs, complex topics are reduced to plain theses, and a profound analysis is substituted with the afterword tl;dr. Too long; didn’t read. This essay deals with the issue of the relation between education and values, using examples of working with literary texts to explore how to develop comprehension, analytical skills and a willingness to avoid simple explanations of complex topics.

Metodika 3A: nástroj pro reflexi výuky a hodnocení její kvality

Author(s): Tomáš Janík,Jan Slavík,Petr Najvar,Tereza Češková / Language(s): Czech

3A procedure - designation for the methodological procedure of reflection and qualitative analysis of teaching, which is associated with the evaluation of the quality of teaching and the proposal of improving changes. The concept of 3A methodology follows the tradition of didactic analysis focused on the content of education as developed in the didactic approach of W. Klafki (1967). The idea here is that the teacher first reflects on the question “what will I teach / what will the pupils learn” and derives the choice of teaching practices, i.e. “how will I teach / how will the pupils go about learning”, from the answer to this question. The method of research on teaching presented here is intended to meet the needs of teachers first and foremost by addressing the questions that teachers actually have to address when they prepare lessons, when they work with pupils in them, and when they reflect on ways to improve them. The book will offer teachers the opportunity to engage with research findings and to put them into practice.

Na cestě k inkluzivní škole: Interakce a norma

Author(s): Radim Šíp,Denisa Denglerová,Miroslav Bielik,Lenka Ďulíková,Lenka Gulová,Jan Kalenda,Markéta Košatková,Martina Kurowski,František Trapl / Language(s): Czech

Inclusion is not deepening integration. It is a comprehensive response to the transformation of the contemporary world, which takes seriously the fact that diversity is its defining essence. The monograph presents the results of three years of research, from which it follows that well-implemented inclusion positively transforms the atmosphere, teaching methods, and academic outcomes of mainstream schools. Thanks to its principles of inclusion, it frees the educational system from the ideology of the middle class, which, contrary to its own rhetoric, is based on a hierarchical system and favors sameness over the difference. Valuing diversity opens up space for the essential value of a democratic society – the development of the educational potential of each of its members according to their possibilities, needs, and interests while building strong social cohesion and resilience.

Efektivita práce učitele v inkluzivním vzdělávání: sebehodnoticí nástroj pro studující pedagogických odborů

Author(s): Helena Vaďurová,Katarína Slezáková,Lenka Slepičková / Language(s): Czech

For teachers, to be able to fulfill the role “of carrier of change”, he or she must be identified with the idea of education for all, accept responsibility for the education of all his or her students, and be able to recognize and solve any form of exclusion and unequal. At the same time, it turns out that a fundamental factor forming the teachers’ actions in the inclusive classroom is their inner confidence in their own ability to manage individual aspects of educational activities. The tool makes it possible to view the teacher’s work from a distance, learn to reflect on it and create a personal and professional development plan.

Konstrukční výzkum učebnice pro výuku odborného anglického jazyka

Author(s): Eva Ellederová / Language(s): Czech

This book deals with the concept of design-based research which presents a challenge for English for specific purposes (ESP) teachers to deal with complex curriculum issues in dynamic contexts of teaching practice. The development of learning materials seems to be a fact of life for many ESP teachers. Even though there are many empirically grounded studies for the development of English language learning materials, only a few studies deal with ESP materials development that would provide potential authors with instructions on how to proceed with their design. Design-Based Research of an ESP Coursebook offers a solution to this problem since it describes the systematic implementation, evaluation, and development of an ESP coursebook with the aim of producing design principles and empirically grounded theories. It is believed that the design principles presented in this book should provide a basis for adaptation to other situations, that is, they can help teachers to develop ESP coursebooks tailored for their own courses.

Efekt neuro

Author(s): Michał Klichowski / Language(s): Polish

The book tells the story of an educationalist's scientific emigration to the world of neuroscience. However, the impulse to write it was not the need to publish an emigration diary but rather for the emigrant to reflect critically on how neuroscience has seduced educators and non-educators and how it is used to seduce numerous domains, including those that are strictly educational. Although you may not realize it at times, neuroscience seduces everyone. And this is what the author calls the neuro effect. The book shows that neuroscience seduces in at least several ways. Referring to his scientific research, which was carried out over several years of internships in neurolaboratories, as well as to scientific theories and results obtained by other scientists, the author describes such aspects as seduction by the applied perspective of neuroresearch, the ethos of the brain, brain-centric and brain-deterministic concepts, neurorealistic possibilities of visualizing the processes occurring in the brain, neuroequipment, neurolaboratory, and the splendor of neuroscientists. When showing various contexts of the neuro effect, the author does not focus solely on describing them. He also exposes the consequences of seduction, particularly those related to pedagogy, for example, dangerous activities aimed at the educational application of yet unproven brain stimulation methods or the increase in redundant publications in the field of neuropedagogy. He also identifies possible solutions to counter seduction. The key is building awareness of the limitations of neuroscientific knowledge by studying neuroscience and gaining experimental experience in neurolaboratories

Przesilenie

Author(s): / Language(s): Polish

The book is a post-conference volume of the 11th Pedagogical Congress and is devoted to the issue formulated as Turning point. Crises in educational contexts – challenges for pedagogy. It is a collection of texts by the participants of the session organized by the editors of the volume, which combined the interests of critical pedagogues, sociologists of education and social pedagogues, focusing on social, structural and environmental conditions, going beyond the constructivist paradigm, through the pluralism of ideas and interpretative frameworks. The events of recent decades, and in, new crises such as climate change, pandemics, ethnic and cultural wars, mass migration, religious fundamentalism, the monopoly of neoliberal economies, the expansion of poverty, the pathogenic use of the Internet, educational systems in the service of the past, constitute constant challenges for pedagogy (including social inequalities in education). The authors of the texts seek an answer to the question: What should pedagogy be like in the 21st century? What is its social, political, economic and cultural role, locally and globally? What actions should educators take in the face of growing inequalities and increasing uncertainty?

Uczenie się „stawania się” osobą starą

Author(s): Marcin Muszyński / Language(s): Polish

The research problem focuses on understanding how individuals learn to become older persons, how such self-identification is constructed at the individual level, what it means to be an older adult, and what image of old age emerges from the narratives of the researched participants. Social constructionism served as the epistemological basis for the research, while social interactionism and the biographical approach were the main theoretical orientations. Efforts were also made to present the empirical data within much broader structures, constituting macroscopic approaches to late adulthood and referring to the specialized gerontological knowledge. Narrative and semi-structured interview techniques, photowalk techniques, and qualitative observation were used for data collection. The research was conducted between 2017 and 2022 in Lodz and selected villages in the Lodz Voivodship. A total of 43 interviews were conducted, including 22 narrative and 21 semi-structured interviews. Forty-three narrators participated in the study. As a result of the conducted research, four agency areas were identified, representing various manifestations of human agency. The analysis also distinguished the internal and external dimensions of experiencing one's old age. All these elements were used to create a model of learning to become an older adult based on strictly defined assumptions derived directly or indirectly from the obtained empirical data. This learning is considered statically and dynamically, indicating the multiplicity of typical scenarios of old person identification.

Charakterystyka wad postawy ciała. Diagnoza, kompensacja i korekcja

Author(s): Anna Makarczuk / Language(s): Polish

The manual contains basic information on the theory and practice of correcting posture defects as well as tips on their prevention and compensation. The first chapter presents a historical outline of the development of therapeutic gymnastics, the most important definitions and anatomical and ontogenetic conditions for the development of human body posture. The second chapter covers the etiology and characteristics of postural defects. It describes changes in the shape of the physiological curvatures of the spine (round back, concave back, round-concave and flat back), knee valgus and varus, heel valgus and longitudinal flat feet. The next chapter contains the basic methods of examining the musculoskeletal system used to diagnose posture defects. These are primarily functional tests, thanks to which it is possible to select appropriate corrective and compensatory exercises. The fourth chapter contains a systematics of exercises used in corrective gymnastics, with their quite detailed description, conditions of use and contraindications. The last chapter, which refers to the practice of conducting compensatory and corrective classes, includes examples of special exercises used in particular body posture disorders with a discussion, sports indications and contraindications, principles of preventing defects and sample outlines of corrective gymnastics lessons. At the end there is the text of two publications based on the author's own research. They concern the issue of posture defects - changes that occur in body posture as a result of practicing competitive sports, as well as the knowledge and awareness of parents of early school-age children about posture defects and their prevention.
