With this article we propose an addition to Prof. Brezinki’s system ofBulgarian predicates. The statement about the absence of simple nominal, numeraland adverbial predicates is revised. Five new types are introduced – four-component(containing a modal, phase, auxiliary verb and main ingredient – noun / adjective,pronoun, numeral name, adverb or interjection), as well as another type verbalpredicate – four-component, obtained by adding another modal verb to the complexcomposite predicate.

The intrusion of Turkic words into different languages is long and complex process that requires serious and in-depth analysis of the extracted material. The analysis of common borrowings in two languages from different groups (Bulgarian and French) requires a complex approach based on the comparative empruntology between lexical elements of agglutinating language, passed into two Indo-European languages, representatives of the Slavic and Romance groups. The aim of the study is to track the phonetic and grammatical changes that occurred during the penetration of Turkic words in Bulgarian and French and outline the thematic fields and the changes in their semantics

The aim of this paper is to present the way in which the verbal categories aspect, tense, mood and voice are treated in the educational books of the Greek Middle School,called “Gymnasium” (7th to 9th Grade in the Bulgarian schools). We analyzed seven books: one grammar of Modern Greek and the methodological guides for the teachers, the textbooks and theworkbooks for the 1stGrade and the 2nd Gradeof the Middle School (Gymnasium). The main conclusion of the review of these teaching materials is that the grammar and the methodological guides for the teachers offer more modern treatment of the Modern Greek verbal system, while the textbooks adhere to the traditional description of the verbal system.

Изграждане на социолингвистична компетентност в контекста на смесеното обучение за медицински цели

This paper examines improving sociolinguistic competence as a basic element of communicative competence in Second Language Acquisition. The study presents and analyzes data from research of “frequency” and “logic” properties of comparisons in Bulgarian language learning as foreign for medical students in blended learning environment with using literary texts. Methods of Scaling were used to carry out the study. The results and their analysis are relevant to establishing the didactic potential of learning in EasyClass online platform. Emphasis is placed on the role in mediating of literary text on the understanding of the specific rhetorical functions of comparisons and their extension into a middle linguistic register relevant to the purpose of patient-centered communication.

This text presents in detail the content of the curricula and programs related to the study of classical languages and classical antiquity in Serbia and Romania. According to higher education and the study of classical languages in programs, different from the specialized bachelor programs, such is being offered in Serbia in just a few places for some philological majors (such as "Romance Studies").The most practiced training mainly in Latin Language for non-professionals is being observed in Romania. Such training is included in bachelor programs of Historical, Theological and Legal Department.

The current article focuses on two main tasks: linguistic – to draw out the basic principles of rendering Hindi words into Bulgarian language, as well as culturological – to show the importance of a translator’s mission and his role as an intercultural mediator. Apart from the phonetic and phonological aspect of the matter, the article refers also to the clearly semantic point, related to the way of incorporating words and terms in a text’s integrity, no matter if it is a translation or any written work, related to Indian culture. The survey is based on several publications of the department of Indology (Indian Studies) in Bulgaria and on the author’s book „Pen, Chocolate And Two Rupees“ (in co-authorship with Nikolay Yankov). The method is holistic and attempts to offer a comprehensive insight into the connection between languages while correlating it with the one between cultures, placing the translator’s personality in the centre of this relation.

All this internet-movements contain their myths about the Russian language.

Дидактика и превод. Школският метод „психагогия“ и синонимните биноми в българската преводна практика през ранния XIX век

This paper puts forth the thesis that the early translations into Modern Bulgarian (2nd quarter of the 19th century) were profoundly influenced by the methods of teaching Ancient Greek authors which had been used ever since the Byzantine period. A focus is put on a particular translation technique consisting in the abundant use of synonymic binomials to replace single lexical items of the source text. It is argued that this technique has its origins in a traditional teaching method known as “psychagogia” which was largely applied in Greek education during the Ottoman period (1453-1821).

Comparative Analysis of the Textual Competence of Bulgarian Students in English as a Foreign Language, and in Bulgarian

This article aims to present a comparative analysis of the textual competence of Bulgarian students in English as a foreign language, and in Bulgarian. The corpus includes narrative and argumentative essays in English and Bulgarian, on the basis of which the tested persons’ skills in both languages are assessed. The texts are analyzed against criteria such as text structure, macro structure and cohesion. Attention is paid to language facts such as vocabulary/lexis, grammar,phraseology and syntactic structures.

The article discusses two key messages of the children‘s works of Konstantin Velichkov: of Christian humbleness and civic implacability. Considering the fact that these values combine relatively rare both in real life and literature, the paper supports the view of the semantic passability at the border between religious-theme poems, presenting man in a silent dialogue with himself and with God, and fables whose allegories refer to the need for an active stance on the socio-institutional status-quo. The analysed texts are interpreted in the paradigm of the modern idea of the Orthodox theology of participation, according to which true humanity implies not only meekness but also benevolence towards the community and disagreement with political autocracy.

The Prefix Na- in Bulgarian Verbs: a Cognitive Linguistic Approach

This study analyses the cognitive semantics of the Bulgarian verbal prefix na- ‘on, onto’ and aims to reveal its core meaning. Using a comprehensive inventory of corpora examples, the analysis distinguishes a few subgroups of na-verbs pointing out how apparently distinct meanings correspond to the central spatial meaning in the semantic network of the spatial particle na(-) and how the different meanings of the prefix na- relate to each other. The focus is particularly on the relation between spatial and non-spatial meanings, and on the application of conceptual metaphors that contribute to a consistent and motivated meaning network of na-.

La mise en espace des formules stéréotypées dans le discours politico-médiatique: stratégie d’attraction

Media speeches and press texts constitute a dynamic database that makes available to the public a range of up-to-date information associated with the inalienable parameters of communication. Because of its identifiable physiognomy and its contribution to the profiling of the news, the political-media discourse guarantees a kind of comprehensibility, even intelligibility, allowing to impose a verdict and to reinforce the status quo. Thus, sociolinguistic analyzes consider stereotypical statements as a platform of shared opinions, common and pre-established judgments. Stereotypes function as the set of consensus aimed at constructing a semantico-pragmatic network in which the signifiers intersect, converge and tend, instinctively, to the same signified.

Наклонение на глагола в учебниците по български език за седми клас: подходи и практики

The article aims at presenting, in terms of comparison, the ways of how the morphological category mood of the verb are developed in the actual textbooks, according to the new curriculum for the 7th grade in the general secondary education course of the Bulgarian secondary school. The observations lay on the base of eight textbooks with different authoring teams. Several key criteria have been selected, as number of lesson articles, terminology used, grammatical content, practical skills and didactic effect. The author expresses her views based on voluntary and gratuitous work for debugging the textbooks in Bulgarian language, which contributes to the enlargement of the professional and the broader social audience with interest to the topical issues of the Bulgarian education. Specific practical examples are discussed with regard to compiling HBO (National External Assessment) tests.

„Младежка тема“ и лирика в българското игрално кино от 70-те и 80-те години на ХХ век

The present text deals with the specific characteristics of the so-called “theme of youth” in Bulgarian cinema during the 70s and 80s of the 20th century. The development of the discussed theme is analyzed in the films “Trampa” (1978), “Mass Miracle” (1981), “Reflections” (1982) and “Megi” (1989). Special emphasis is placed on the role of the verses which are incorporated in these films as well as on the possibilities of interpretation that this creative gesture offers.

By examining the “Path Through the Years”, the study draws conclusions about the construction of memory in the memoir realm of Konstantin Konstantinov. It traces the extent to which the literary history in the book approaches or departs from both the literary history proclaimed after 1944 and today. The reflection on the first reviews of “Path Through the Years” leads to conclusions about the shift in attitude towards the book over the decades, which supports the thesis that the past and the perceptions towards it are differentiated and reevaluated in accordance with the pulse of time.

The parameters of the syntactic relation and the mechanism of its formation are investigated.Variations in which the same positioning has a different syntactic function are indicated. Contact and distance can be considered as prototypes of the syntactic relation. We consider the use of a prototype correct, because the syntax assumes that there are both semantic relations and relationships that express them between the parts of the sentence. What predetermines or takes away the relationship is contact or distance.

Словакистиката в чужбина и лекторатите по словашки език и култура по света

The paper discusses Slovak studies abroad focusing on lectorates of Slovak language and culture worldwide. It describes a current form of their functioning based on international bilateral contracts and contracts between universities, as well as the position of Slovak studies in the frame of philological and Slavic education at foreign universities, and current dynamics reflected in numbers of lectors (since some lectorates abroad were closed whereas others were established). The paper also mentions criteria for lectors of Slovak language and culture abroad, namely qualification requirements, selection process, models of financing lectorates as well as issues related to the labour code and legal issues. The paper also describes forms of the methodical support for lectors in the area of Slovak as a foreign language, namely preparing and distributing didactic materials, textbooks and methodical guidelines, seminars, summer schools, scholarships, mobilities, as well as accredited programmes of further professional preparation of lectors

MASTERING THE CULTURAL INTERVIEW: PRACTICAL APPROACHES AND INSIGHTS

This article focuses on the role of pre-research and research, with an emphasis on cultural interviews in print media. Based on my 26 years of experience in Romanian journalism, the study presents several situations a journalist may encounter throughout their career. For didactic purposes and due to space limitations in this volume, I will schematically present the elements that a young journalist should take into account when approaching a topic in the press. The interviews reproduced here, which are my own, are not intended as models, but rather as examples to better understand the genre and its demands.
