The City as a Place Prepared for Neurodiversity

The City as a Place Prepared for Neurodiversity

Author(s): Pavol Mazalán,Peter Mazalán / Language(s): English Issue: 1-2/2021

This study aims to analyse and reflect on the relationship between architecture and human neurodiversity. Individuals with different cognitive capabilities perceive and use space and it’s elements differently. Despite the fact that modern medicine has positively contributed toward and shift in social paradigm towards mental health and its impairments, the level of stigmatisation in the society is still relatively high, and very obvious in the European countries. A target group study examines architectural typology of psychiatric institutions of hospitals, sanatoria and social services establishments in Europe, with an emphasis on the historical context. Through the topic of care for people with mental health impairments it demonstrates the dynamic development of the role that architecture plays in relation to social interaction.

Što slike znaju? Umjetnost, aproprijacija, kulturalna triangulacija

Što slike znaju? Umjetnost, aproprijacija, kulturalna triangulacija

Author(s): Krešimir Purgar / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 03/163/2021

In the paper, we try to elucidate the procedures that need to be applied if we want to establish the consequences that occur when the sediments of meaning in images are deposited on top of each other, creating a specific pictorial epistemology. We will point out some interdisciplinary mechanisms of image analysis, such as “cultural symptomatology” and “cultural triangulation”, together with drawing a typology of cultural-historical sediments of pictorial meaning that we call appropriation. We conclude that Bredekamp’s theory of image acts, as well as Mitchell’s concept of pictures as “desiring objects” and Belting’s consideration of the human body as “image media”, suggest that the interaction between a human and an image is a mirror of human’s own desire to produce a parallel world in which, as Lambert Wiesing explained, he or she does not have to participate. The image allows for different forms of participation or absence from participation in the event represented in the image. Therefore, what images “know” is a specific consequence of the fact that inanimate pictorial objects can possess memory but – unlike artificial intelligence – can activate their knowledge only in a reciprocal communicative relationship with people.

Postmoderno napuštanje hilemorfizma u konceptualističkoj estetici Arthura Colemana Dantoa

Postmoderno napuštanje hilemorfizma u konceptualističkoj estetici Arthura Colemana Dantoa

Author(s): Goran Sunajko / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 03/163/2021

The paper considers the philosophical relationship between the form (idea) and the shape (figure) through the meaning of conceptualist art, which Arthur Coleman Danto emphasizes in his aesthetic theory. Even though modern art from the beginning of the 20th century signalled the break between the form and the shape, it has fully come to life in the postmodern sense. It will be shown that conceptual artists have understood how it is possible to keep the shape of a thing without changing its form, with the idea displacing it from a predetermined function. For conceptual, postmodern art, it will be decisive to keep the shape while changing the form in which such a work of art is created, changing the character of things that were not a work of art until then. According to Hartmann’s aesthetic theory, this creates a unique aesthetic object that does not rest on the work of art itself but its perception. Danto exemplified such a path with Duchamp’s Fountain and Warhol’s Brillo Box, which witnessed a change of the form while retaining the shape, establishing postmodern aesthetics as essentially conceptual.

The paper also refers to the "milling" site from Rudăria, now Eftimie Murgu, which has a history of over 150 years. This analysis is part of the research of authors in the area that spanned a period of 3 years, and has materialized, in addition to research reports and scientific papers with a book called "Almaj of yesterday, today and tomorrow”, this being a synthesis of all the elements of history, population, culture, language, economy, agriculture and sustainable rural development of the area. The results allow us to say that Almaj, a welldefined geographical, historical and administrative entity, has a rich history, but today, the culture and art of Almaj, as well as everything that means tradition and patriarchal life in the area, is, unfortunately,in a state of languishing, is in oblivion.

Slika "Suzana i starci" nepoznatog umetnika iz zbirke umetnika iz zbirke Narodnog muzeja u Beogradu

Author(s): Ljubica Vujović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 11/2021

Author(s): Matina Magkou,Vincent Lambert / Language(s): French Issue: 28 (2)/2021

Placing arts and cultural creativity at the heart of their work, cultural third places explore new collaborative working methods. They occupy -according to Ray Oldenburg who introduced the term third places- the space where people spend time between their home (first) and work (second place) and which allow citizen engagement while creating a feeling of belonging. But what happened to these places during Covid-19? How did they react? How did they engage with their audiences? What changes in their mission will this period bring? In this article we firstly explore the results of a collective study on a sample of third places that took place during spring-summer 2020 as a part of the Creamed research network. After a short review of the links that exist between crisis communication and solidarity communication, we first describe and analyse the key points of our overall corpus and secondly, we give examples from our study that are pertinent to the research question. Finally, we try to give an answer to the general concern about the future of communication by focusing on the notion of solidarity communication.

Изобразительное искусство Беларуси в авангарде сопротивления идеологии милитаризма

Изобразительное искусство Беларуси в авангарде сопротивления идеологии милитаризма

Author(s): Barbara Barwa / Language(s): Russian Issue: 2/2021

From 1945 to the present day, the ideology of the Belarusian authorities has been based on the postulate: “let there be no war”. Therefore, Belarusian art has been glorifying mili-tant heroes, sacrificial deaths and bloody events. This article presents the fl agship myths and the dynamics of the war theme based on the works of Belarusian artists of the second half of the twentieth century. In 2020 and 2021, Belarusian art has been in the vanguard of counteracting the ideology of war: not for fascism, not for Stalinism, not for the roman-ticisation of war; there is only life, man, Good and truth. This article discusses contem-porary works of art referring to the themes of World War ii, fascism and the Holocaust. Conclusions have been drawn that there has been a powerful outburst of artistic activ-ity in Belarusian society, which has put a thick line under the Soviet ideology. Belarusian art follows the path of moral and ethical norms, proclaiming freedom, peace, honesty and pride in being human as the basis of life.

Avant-garde art display recreations historised: Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź as a referential case?

Avant-garde art display recreations historised: Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź as a referential case?

Author(s): Jesús Pedro Lorente / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2021

Museums can no longer pretend to be mere containers of art or other cultural treasures; their fascinating legacy for posterity is definitely not just the respective collection, but also its idiosyncratic articulation and ulterior resignification. This essay surveys sifting trends in the re-staging of modern museographies; but instead of using New York’s MoMA as the obvious paradigm, pride of place is given here to the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź (Poland). Its original Neoplastic Hall survived only from June 1948 until October 1950; but it was reconstructed ten years later, prefiguring other museographical remakes of avant-garde art displays. Thereafter, it also became, in many ways, a typical example characterising postmodern museological trends. All in all, it could perhaps be discussed nowadays in the light of critical museology as a referential case in the history of heritagised museographies.

Озеленення закладів загальної середньої освіти та його вплив на формування художнього смаку у школярів

Озеленення закладів загальної середньої освіти та його вплив на формування художнього смаку у школярів

Author(s): Tatiana Boiko,Lesya Torbina,Galina Zavgorodnya / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 07/2021

The article considers the formation of schoolchildren's artistic and aesthetic taste and the influence of landscaping of school green areas on this process. During natural sciences, students should form the concept of the beauty of plant objects, the relationship of individual-personal reaction, and the object's quality. The purpose of education in this context should be the consistent implementation of the humanistic principle - a careful attitude to the inner world, his interests and needs, enrichment of his spiritual potential. Achieving this goal is facilitated by introducing the educational process of a personality-oriented approach aimed at the holistic development of a student's personality. The formation of children's artistic and aesthetic taste is one of the urgent problems of the harmonious development of personality, the successful solution of which improves the quality of pedagogical process in general secondary education. Feelings and understanding of beauty, artistic and aesthetic taste are not formed independently. They should be nurtured, consistently formed and developed. One of the top places in the formation of aesthetic taste is studying the decorative qualities of woody and herbaceous plants in the green areas of secondary schools. Both lessons of subjects of a natural cycle and practical classes of circles can be conducted on their basis. Successfully designed green space develops students' aesthetic perception of form and space, symmetry and asymmetry, a combination of light and shadow, texture and colour, i. e. the formation of artistic and aesthetic taste. Plantations of tree plants and flower arrangements contribute to the formation of the concept of the beauty of plant objects, the relationship of individual-personal reaction and the quality of the object. Conducting classes on the territory of green areas of educational institutions compensates for the lack of communication with wildlife, forms the childrens' artistic and aesthetic taste, cultivates a caring attitude to the environment.

Digital Game as an Artistic Mimesis and a Cult Brand

Digital Game as an Artistic Mimesis and a Cult Brand

Author(s): Dinko Jukić / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2021

This paper will analyse the issue of the digital game as a modern art and as a brand. In the first part of the paper, the construct of culture in the context of popular culture will be preliminarily determined. Then, culture in a broader interdisciplinary sense will be considered, starting from William’s theory of culture, Eagleton's perspective of culture, and Griswold's theory of the cultural object. The second part will analyse Huizinga’s theory, which shows the game as the basic core of human expression, and Barthes' theory of myth on the example of the digital game The Walking Dead. Digital games are viewed from the aspect of marketing semiotics where they are presented as cultural brands, cultural objects, and cultural signs. Ultimately, we will implement Kapferer’s theory of brand identity on digital game identity. The digital game is thus viewed as a brand, and its main characters as brand extensions. The aim of this paper is to present, research and analyse the phenomenon of digital game as an art, but also as a cultural brand. The contribution of the work is manifested in the interdisciplinary approach of cultural theory, media pedagogy, semiotics, and marketing. Digital game is viewed in the context of art where mimesis is understood as an artistic experience of reality.

Artificial Intelligence in Music Production

Artificial Intelligence in Music Production

Author(s): Marek Šimončič,Lenka Kajanovičová / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2021

The paper explores the connection between artificial intelligence and music production and consists of two main chapters. The theoretical part provides general knowledge on artificial intelligence. The empirical part tries to answer how experts perceive the phenomenon of artificial intelligence in music production, also confronting and explaining their findings. Artificial intelligence is currently being implemented in various areas of human life. With its effect, many people rightly fear that they will remain in their jobs, but it should be added that the main goal of artificial intelligence is not to destroy and replace human individuals, but to help them and speed up their work process. It is scientifically proven that when listening to music, different parts of the brain are involved in the thought process; As for the creative process of playing a musical instrument, both hemispheres of the brain participate in this process. Exploring the implemented artificial intelligence in music production is an interesting direction of research.

Narration as a Basic Creative and Communication Component of the Medium of Photography

Narration as a Basic Creative and Communication Component of the Medium of Photography

Author(s): Eva Jonisová,Peter Lančarič / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

Narration as such does not appear only in literature or spoken language; on the contrary, it is implied in all kinds of art and communication. Although, generally it is a sequence of events in time and a photograph is “only” a freezing of o single moment, it is also capable of telling stories. We can, therefore, propose a thesis that narration is one of the main creative and communication components of this medium. What is a narrative or storytelling, how is a story, narrative, and narration defined by different authors? Addressing a reflection of this topic in the Slovak science appears to be difficult from the start – it remains to be a problem that because we have not been able to find narration in connection to photography in domestic publications, we are working only with relevant foreign sources. We believe that the following pages could become a foundation for further studies.

With the advancement of technology and the discovery of new materials, important developments have begun to emerge in building materials. While all these developments (strength, flexibility, bendability, etc.) generally reflect positively on the properties of the material, they may cause some disadvantages, especially in terms of insulation and acoustics. However, the slow progress of the legislation related to insulation causes the development speed of the studies on building materials to decrease. Insulation is of great importance, especially in terms of achieving the purpose of educational buildings with musical functions. In this study, information was provided about wool, which is a textile material, and felt obtained from wool. Evaluations were made about the usability of wool and felt in music education environments.

COVID-19 PANDEMİSİNİN ÇOCUK ÇİZİMLERİNE YANSIMALARI

Author(s): Emrah Pek / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 88/2021

In this study; it is aimed to determine the perceptions and approaches of the 4th and 5th grade students regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The phenomenology study, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was planned as the most appropriate method for the research. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 100 students studying at the 4th and 5th-grade levels in the city center of Van in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Fifty of the students are in the fourth grade and 50 are in the fifth grade. In order to determine the reflections of the COVID-19 pandemic on children's drawings, drawings of students and their own explanations of drawings were evaluated as research data. Data were collected from the students in the study group by complying with the pandemic conditions. In this process, students were asked to make a drawing explaining their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. The obtained qualitative data (drawings) were analyzed by the content analysis method. As a result of the research, it has been observed that the news in the media has its counterparts in the world of children, and that this news have effects on the way the pandemic is reflected on the pictures. It was observed that there were descriptions of masks and distance in the paintings of both student groups. It has been observed that the pandemic, which children encounter in the early stages of their relationship with the environment, is transferred to the pictures as a reflection of fear, and expressed as the fear of getting sick and infecting their environment. It has been determined that children have learned the "14 rules" created in the early stages of the pandemic.
