K teórii a terminológii (verbálno-) obrazových naratívov a ich poetologickým špecifikám
The paper deals with an interdisciplinary issue of visual narratives and picture books in general. A picture book is a form of art which combines several art forms (visual arts, literature, movies, drama). Picture books have several subgenres: comic books, visual albums, visual-verbal narratives, and graphic novels. Furthermore, picture books distinguish between narrativity and non-narrativity. Picture books bring in a world of fiction the composition of which is a combination of verbal and visual text, however, there are also silent books in which words are completely absent (although the existence of the so-called hidden text such as script is implied). The reading and interpretation of picture books differs from other types of narrative in many respects due to the fact that the interpretation of the verbal and the visual makes an integrated whole.
