Not long after the death of Jacques Derrida, the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory and the National Library of Serbia organized a colloquium dedicated to the work and theoretical influences of one of the most important thinkers of the last century. The texts collected in the collection are focused on several topics (literature, art, philosophy and politics) and bring different receptions, readings, interpretations of Derrida's works. One of the goals of the collection is to examine the impact of Derrida's philosophy on these regions.

Kalem Levinas

This paper deals with Derrida’s introduction of Levinas’s concept of trace into the thinking of différance. Since his earliest reading of that concept – in Violence and Metaphysics – was highly negative and exclusive, there obviously happened some change of perspective. In order to explain it, the author reached for Derrida’s idea of writing as grafting, considering his earlier refusal of Levinas as the “silent” entry of graft “Levinas” in his writing.

À propos: Marx u strujanju dekonstruktivnog čitanja

This article focuses on an analysis and evaluation of the importance of Marx’s theory may have for Derrida. First, it is argued that the deconstructive reading of Marx’s texts is to be seen as the way toward the articulation of the politics and ethics in Derrida’s work. Second, the article maintains that the interpretation of Marx’s critical theory depends on the Derrida’s dealings with Levinas. I emphasize especially the significance of the phenomenology in this context, in fact, the importance of the Derrida’s dealing with the phenomenology of otherness. Third, I critically analyse in particular the concepts of absolute hospitality and messianistic coming. The conclusion is the next: Marx is, nolens volens, treated in Derrida in the light of the contradiction between ethics and politics.

Научният Еверест - мечта или реалност

The academic forum “Literature of the Recent Past (1944-1989)”, organized by the Faculty of Philology at the South West University, combined the efforts of literary theorists of several generations to reflect on that part of Bulgaria’s recent past which has already turned into history. However, this history has not been completed yet in a comprehensive and objective manner. The aim of the forum was to create the proper discourse in which the history of literary theory writing will be attributed a multifaceted pluralistic ring. The project was a part of the attempt to reveal the Bulgarian literary history not only from the point of view “the history of generals”, but from the perspective of cultural identity manifestations on a national scale.

The ubiquitous use of digital technologies has enabled vast possibilities such as instant access to information, presence on any part of the planet, multiplication and transformation of identity, as well as re-articulation and reconstruction of embodiment. Science fiction film and literature, new media art practices, scientific research, and cyber theories often deal with the idea of leaving the body behind and uploading the immortal mind into digital databases where we can be whatever and whoever we want. Compared to modern technology, biological body is often considered obsolete and, as such, it is not “equipped” keep up with the exponential technological development. It is not surprising then that many studies, either scientific or popular, disregard the problem of corporeality and focus more on the issues of identity, consciousness, and disembodiment in digital worlds. Therefore, this book presents the works that focus on the issues of embodiment in the context of new media and their impact on social reality. The starting premise of the discussions is that without a physical body, there is neither virtual nor real. The book points to the importance of the physical body in biotechnological interfaces and the ways the role and functions of the body transform in virtual environments and affect our perceptions and understanding of human ontology

Evropski diskurs rata

Prva zamisao ovog filozofskog zbornika o ratu njegovom diskursu nastala je početkom devedesetih godina. Ta zamisao nije bila lišena, tako da kažem, mirovnjačke diplomatije. U pozadini ubrzanih i veoma dramatičnih dogadaja u Jugoslaviji, postepeno koncepcijsko uobličenje zbornika poprimilo je didaktičke tonove. Ono što je ovaj zbornik nastojao da rekonstruiše u području teksta, ponovo je, u svoj žestini, progovorilo kontekstualno. U ranim devedesetim, javni diskurs su nasilno kolonizovali upravo oni elementi govora rata za koje sam verovao da su odavno otpisani i nepovratno arhivirani. Neprosvećene i sasvim primitivne forme militarističkog diskursa nezadrživo su provalile u svakodnevni život. Uprkos neobično čestom iskustvu rata, s kojim smo se ovde i sada ponovo susreli, iznenadio me je nizak teorijski nivo ratničkog diskursa. Pod naletom gole sile, procedura raćionalnog argumentisanja sasvim je izostala: atavizam ratnih sredstava ponovo je preuzeo mandat kultivisanim inicijativama.

Между приспособяване и бунт. Дискусии и изследователски насоки в българската философия

The book brings together seven studies, which analyses some of the main discussions in Bulgarian philosophy, and offers also philosophical portraits of contemporary Bulgarian scholars of different generations: Nikolay Raynov, Azarya Polikarov, Julia Kristeva, Rosen Stupoff and Hristo Stoev. As in her previous books on Contemporary Western Philosophy, Yvanka Raynova uses here the approach of comparative and translative hermeneutics. This allows her to prove two main theses. Firstly, unlike some authors who consider Bulgarian philosophy and culture to be characterized by a lack of tradition, she maintains that tradition does exist, but that it is marked by three historical ruptures: The fall of Bulgaria under Ottoman domination in 1396, the gradual decapitation of philosophical and cultural pluralism after 1945, and the downfall of Marxism following the collapse of "real socialism" after 1990. Second, Raynova opposes the view that there were only "minor devia-tions" from Marxism-Leninism in Bulgarian philosophy during socialism, showing that a number of Bulgarian philosophers not only resisted the dom-inant ideological discourse, but also addressed serious issues, entering into discussion with the leading Western scholars of the time.
