Researchers were selected based on volunteerism. The qualitative research method was used in the research and the findings were supported by content analysis. 4 open-ended questions prepared by the researcher were prepared by taking expert opinions. The results obtained from the research show that the anatomy course is important for physical education, and the behaviours to be gained in this course will have to be used frequently in professional life. Again, it was concluded that explaining the anatomy course content as applied while preparing it will facilitate their learning. As a result of the results obtained from this research, the anatomy course taught in universities is an important course for the physical education profession. The Effect of Match Attendance on Team Performance in Basketball

The Effect of Match Attendance on Team Performance in Basketball

Author(s): Vlad I. Roșca / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

Attending matches is a characteristic of spectator sports. Studies have investigated what effects team performances had on fans’ decisions to attend a game, yet rather few research has been carried out in the opposite direction. This paper starts from a rule of thumb that the quantity (number of spectators at the game) and quality (atmosphere created in the stands) of a match attendance has got an impact on how the teams perform during the game. Positive (cheering for the favourite team) and negative (jeering against the opposition or against match officials) emotional influences can be discussed. For testing the conceptual model, a sample of 64 statistical observations ranging over five seasons of the Romanian men’s national basketball league (LNBM) has been used, employing as variables the Performance Index Rating (PIR) – a basketball specific indicator for measuring in-game performances – and attendances at games played in the competition (independent variable x). An ANOVA Factor Analysis, a t-Test and a Regression Analysis (α = 0.05, p<0.05) have been carried out in order to test the research hypothesis. Results show that match attendances have an influence over the quality of sporting performances on the court. Even though the relationship is only moderate (performances continue to be, most of the times, an outcome of sporting skills and decision-making of athletes), the research shows that, acknoweldgeing this influence is important for sports managers as they can better plan the strategies for the development of their teams and they can also approach winning matches in a better way if situational variables such as attendances are taken into account.

Horses exhibit a calming and healing effect on most people, and socializing with animals in psychiatry has long been a well-known therapeutic method. Being aware of this nobility and the ability of horses, the human decided to use these virtues for the purpose of health-rehabilitation and recreational tourism in the countryside. This approach also allowed for the most important thing, preserving the tradition of horse breeding and rural life. This is very important to note, as an increasing number of people from urban areas want to get closer to nature and experience the way of life in the countryside. In order to assess these characteristics, the coaches use exercises on strength, agility, stamina, step tests, anthropometric tests (Parzizkova test). Two thirds of the coaches highlighted the need for an entry assessment before admitting children to judo classes. All respondents agree that it is necessary to start the development of talent in judo from preschool age. Play and sporting games are mentioned as the most appropriate measures of sporting talent development for pre-school children. Among the factors contributing to sporting talent development in judo, the coaches distinguish the following: grouping children according to their abilities and introducing enriched curriculum for talented young athletes (68.4 %); the use of play and games (100 %), taking into account the motivation and interest of a gifted child in a particular method (63 %). 76.9 % of the respondents emphasize the significance of psychological and educational support for talented children. Mit zimowych igrzysk olimpijskich w Sarajewie w bośniackiej pamięci zbiorowej

Author(s): Magdalena Rekść / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2021

The 14th Winter Olympics, held from February 8 to 19, 1984, still evoke nostalgic memories of the inhabitants of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially its capital. Although it was Yugoslavia’s declining moment, the communist authorities put much effort into promoting the atmosphere of “brotherhood and unity.” However, soon after, the war broke out, and the post-war shape of the Bosnian state lead to the permanent political, social and economic crisis. As a result, Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks cannot agree about shared history and common heroes. One of the few crossing points is the myth of the 14th Winter Olympic Games: possibly these days sport idols (Jure Franko, Katarina Witt, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean) can fill the gaps in almost empty Bosnian symbolic apparatus.

Author(s): Alexis Sossa Rojas / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

It is known that rates of participation in sports and physical activities among older adults decrease as they get older. This article focuses on the experience of the aging body at the gym, and it is one of the few that focuses on a little-studied group of frequent gym-goers. Based on an ethnographic work of more than two years in Amsterdam, I explain the goals of three older adults who frequently work out, what their relationships with the gym and their bodies are, and why they are interested in training in gyms. This article seeks to contribute to discourses on health, sport, and aging and, at the same time, to explain some of the advantages of qualitative studies in understanding the experience of aging and training in gyms.

ARENELE DE FOTBAL ȘI ROLUL LOR EDUCATIV ÎN CADRUL SOCIETĂȚII CONTEMPORANE

Author(s): Radu Sfinteș / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 6/2014

Being one of the most attended and practiced sport in the world, football ”the king of sports” provokes, stage by stage, a large range of sentiments to supporters, from depression to euphoria. Besides the implications on the health, the mental and physical level of those who practice this sport or of the supporters, we shouldn’t neglect the social and financial aspects generated by this activity. The dissolution of communication barriers, which would have been otherwise imposed through the social status of supporters, leads, through this sport, to a true society bond, thus creating a community dedicated to the king of sports. The introduction of elements of sustainability in this context builds up the assumption of their much faster and easier apprehension, which can be further passed on in the every-day life. The implementation of the “2020 Addendum” principles on football arenas, based on all the ideas presented before you, becomes a first step in the education of future generations.

2D:4D digit ratio and its relationship to BMI, sporting choices and physiological predispositions among women

2D:4D digit ratio and its relationship to BMI, sporting choices and physiological predispositions among women

Author(s): Agnieszka Tomaszewska,Julia Anna Lubońska / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

The 2D:4D digit ratio has been established as a biomarker of the level of exposure to prenatal sex hormones’ balancebetween prenatal testosterone (PT) and estrogenne levels. Higher 2D:4D indicates lower PT exposure and vice versa. Data suggests that PT exposure is linked to a risk-taking attitude and physical aggressiveness, both of which are requirements in contact sport. A possible correlation between 2D:4D and human body mass index has also been identified. The aim of the study was to examine the relation between 2D:4D ratio and choice of sport. It was assumed that female soccer players who choose a contact sport would have a lower 2D:4D ratio (thus experiencing higher exposure to PT) than female volleyball players (selecting non-contact sport). The analysis was also aimed at identifying whether a correlation between prenatal testosterone level and BMI exists. The participant sample consisted of 103 women – 36 volleyball players, 33 soccer players and a control group (N=34). Measurements were collected in 2019–2020. The results suggest that 2D:4D was significantly different in women practicing various sports (contact and non-contact sports). Women engaged in contact sports had lower 2D:4D than women engaged in non-contact sports, and vice versa (p<0.05). 2D:4D correlated positively with BMI and body weight – the higher the 2D:4D ratio, the higher the BMI and body weight (and vice versa) (p<0.05). Low 2D:4D (high PT exposure) may predict the choice of more risky, aggressive contact sports, and vice versa. High 2D:4D may predict a higher BMI and body weight, and vice versa.
