„British Museum Studies in Ancient Egypt and Sudan” jako przykład czasopisma naukowego w wersji elektronicznej – komunikat z badań

Author(s): Anita Fura / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2011

Electronic journals are becoming more and more popular means of communication among academics. „British Museum Studies in Ancient Egypt and Sudan” (BMSAES) is an example of a journal that uses the latest technologies. Its editors have focused on creating a credible and reliable magazine on Egyptology that enables international cooperation between scientists and provides free and current information. BMSAES's idea is also that there should not be any limitations to journal frequency and volume, but it should be possible to include multimedia. To professionally implement those ideas, the editors publish detailed article submission guidelines on their website. The essential issue is the review process - articles are peer-reviewed by the British Museum experts. Apart from Egyptology matters, editors deal also with the electronic journals topic. Until now two articles on that issue have been published. The creators of the journal contribute not only to Egyptology studies, but also spread the idea of creating new scholarly electronic journals.

„Zapytaj bibliotekarza” w bibliotekach polskich uniwersytetów – analiza i ocena jakości usług elektronicznych na wybranych przykładach

Author(s): Paweł Wróblewski,Rafał Jerzy Jurkowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2011

„Ask the Librarian” is a service that allows contact with the librarian in order to resolve problems associated with using the library. Increasingly, packages are created with comprehensive contact services, using not only tools such as telephone or a traditional letter, but also electronic, ranging from instant messaging to providing complex systems to track requests. The service has been firmly established in highly computerized countries. In Poland, however, many libraries still do not have a separate service, or it has not been prepared well. University centers, associated with research and progress should take the lead in developing high quality services, including those associated with contact with the user. The authors selected six of the best Polish university libraries in order to present the level of services such as „Ask the Librarian” in Poland.

Informatory o zasobie archiwalnym. Próba analizy przydatności informacyjnej

Informatory o zasobie archiwalnym. Próba analizy przydatności informacyjnej

Author(s): Robert Degen,Dorota Degen / Language(s): Issue: 2/2014

In 2000, the General Director of State Archives in Poland issued recommendations how to publish directories to archival holdings. The purpose of these recommendations was to set in Polish archival information system this finding aid (operating between guide to archival holdings and list of funds), to standardize its construction and to increase the importance of this aid in the searching of archival materials. This aim was achieved partially. On the basis of recommendations it is possible to define the term directory to archival holdings, but the standardization of its construction is impossible. Recommendations are susceptible of various interpretations and too general. Moreover, particular state archives have tried to change the construction of directories, but now not all modifications are useful from the archives users’ point of view. Editors of directories to archival holdings seldom used typographical tools which could have enhanced the informative usefulness of these finding aids.

L’intégration de la pluridisciplinarité pédagogique dans l’accompagnement de projets

Author(s): Claudia Sapta,Bruno Roussel / Language(s): French Issue: XVIII/2014

Wartość parametryczna czasopism naukowych a codzienna praktyka badawcza. Casus polskiej humanistyki pierwszej dekady XXI w.

Author(s): Piotr Nowak / Language(s): Issue: 2/2014

The article assumes that the high value of a journal becomes a fact only when its articles form a cluster of documents based on citations by other journals of high value. Only then does the journal become a carrier of the research paradigm in its discipline. However, a citation analysis of selected Polish humanities periodicals does not confirm this assumption. Distribution of parametric value of the journals is random, with a clear predominance of non-impact factor journals. The analysis presents results of a study conducted on ten leading Polish philological journals. The chronological scope of the analysis was limited to years 2000−2009.

"A Change of Paradigm" in Developing Land Forces Officers' Professional Skills in Accordance with Hybrid Warfare Task-Requirements

Author(s): Alexandru Rizescu,Florian Ciocan / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2016

In future conflicts, not only traditional or asymmetric actions will be used, but also a combination of the two in order to solve the disputes involving national and international actors, materialized today in different manifestation forms called hybrid war. The hybrid threats tell about the evolution of the contemporary and future threats, about the necessity of a national effort concerted towards providing an immediate effective response to these threats. From a different perspective, the diversity and the complexity of the issues raised by the hybrid threats prove that it is necessary to go beyond the technical or sequential nowadays answers. It results first that it is required to develop an appropriate security strategy which will make possible the efficient action against hybrid risks and threats, in an effective, operational and unitary manner. Therefore, the present article aims at sequentially highlighting the aspects supporting the need to correlate the coordinates of the national security strategy to the planning, conduct and quality assessment of the process of training officers from the “change of paradigm” perspective, in order to acquire the professional skills conforming to the task-requirements specific to the hybrid war.
