Остатки рыб из раскопок кургана эпохи бронзы около с. Марьянское (Днепропетровская область, Украина)

Author(s): O. M. Kovalchuk / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 2/2014

The Bronze Age mound (2.5–2.3 kya BC) is located near the Maryanskoe village (Apostolovskyi district, Dnepropetrovsk region) and was excavated in 1953. The results of determination of the fish remnants, which were found during the excavation, are presented in the paper. Eleven species belonging to 9 genera, 5 families and 5 orders (Acipenseriformes, Cypriniformes, Siluriformes, Esociformes, Perciformes) were identified: russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii Brandt et Ratzeburg, 1833, stellate sturgeon A. stellatus Pallas, 1771, common ide Idus idus (Linnaeus, 1758), common roach Rutilus rutilus (Linnaeus, 1758), pontic roach R. frisii (Nordmann, 1840), common bream Abramis brama (Linnaeus, 1758), common carp Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758, tench Tinca tinca (Linnaeus, 1758), european catfish Silurus glanis Linnaeus, 1758, northern pike Esox lucius (Linnaeus, 1758), and zander Sander lucioperca (Linnaeus, 1758). Most of them are quite common in the Dnieper river basin. It was found that carp fishes predominate in the number of species. Most of the bone remnants in the collection belong to zander, catfish and pike, while common roach, pontic roach and common bream are identified by the few bones. This may indicate a different role of these species in the diet of the local population. The ratio of skeletal elements in the collection is the evidence of the fish cutting on the site. Body length and weight was reconstructed for 64 fish specimens. It was found that they were mature and small-sized, except for catfish, pike and perch. Taking into account the characteristics of the funeral rituals of the Yamna culture population, fish bones from the mound near Maryanskoe can be remnants of the parting meal.

Изменение видового разнообразия сообществ гидробионтов как динамический процесс

Author(s): V. G. Tereshchenko / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1/2009

Analysis of long-term dynamics of the fish assemblage diversity of 70 large lakes and reservoirs of Russia and other countries of CIS shows, that the response of the community to the increase of load consists of two phases. Under the weak loads the population waves amplitude increases. With intensifying influence the structural and functional features of the fish community changes. It causes the consideration of the biodiversity dynamics as a complex stochastic process. Simple comparative analysis of the biodiversity indices in different spans can result in erroneous conclusions.

Вплив факторів середовища на ріст і синтез пігментів пурпуровими сірковими бактеріями

Author(s): Y. О. Pavlova,S. Gudz,S. О. Gnatush / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 1/2008

The influence of different environmental factors on growth and pigment biosynthesis by particular strains of purple thiobacteria was investigated. These strains belong to the genus Chromatium, Thiocystis, Thiocapsa and Lamprocystis and were isolated from Yavoriv sulphur mine. Calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron and sodium chloride should be included in the medium for optimal growth of these bacteria. Addition of these elements entails increasing the biomass production and synthesis of carotenoids and bacteriochlorophyll a. Initial concentration of inoculum and electron donor has essential influence on growth of purple thiobacteria. Early in the development of culture, sulphide was oxidized, and then the growth impairment and destruction of cells under exposure of light were observed. For the optimization of bacteria growth the electron donor (sulphide) must be added many times during the cultivation process in the concentration, which is not exceed an inhibition dose. The additional bringing of the electron donor in the medium promotes the raise of cells’ biomass. The acetate introduction in the medium has positive influence on the pigments’ biosynthesis. The essential factor of growth and pigments’ biosynthesis is the light intensity. Peak gain of the culture growth was observed under 400 lx. The amplification of light exposure is accompanied by the decrease of growth and content of pigments in cells. Oxygen inhibits the synthesis of pigments in all strains
