The article focuses on the relevance and importance of the issue of violence prevention in the school environment, as well as on the key role of upbringing as a protective factor for the prevention of child and adolescent problem behavior. Various forms of violence in contemporary Bulgarian society determine the aggression in interpersonal communication in school environment. The theoretical arguments in this paper are organized mainly on the idea that ignorance and underestimation of education as a protective factor exacerbate the adverse impact of numerous negative phenomena in our social reality, such as unemployment, poverty, distrust in institutions, violence in interpersonal communication, rising crime etc. Focusing on rethinking the specific ways of activating the upbringing resources in Bulgarian school is relevant to overcome the influence of destructive factors in our society. The research emphasizes the importance of professional competence of the teacher as educator, in order to implement adequate preventive initiatives related to prevention of destructive and violent behavior of adolescents.

Thecombination of research methods for learning and the strong emotional impact onstudents resulting from the choice of topic results in high motivation in studentsand high effectiveness in the learning process. The students’ personal attitudeand commitment towards the investigated topic contributes to a high extend tothe acquisition of lasting and profound astronomical knowledge. The result of theeducation is the creation of a richly illustrated informative database of regionswith Bulgarian names on objects from the Solar system.

This article presents the results of a scientific research. An attempt has been made to find a correlation between the cultural origin, the social status of the family and the readiness of children to start school. In theoretical terms, ideas for the correlation between these factors and school readiness are presented. In order to realize the objective of the study, the following methods were used: a survey for parents, developed by the author of this study and “A test for the readiness of the children for school". The study included 150 respondents. 50 of them were children from two groups of the preparatory school and 100 - parents of the children who took part in the study. The results indicate that there is a correlation between the studied factors - cultural background, social status and readiness of children for school.

This research investigates the impacts of the implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Environmental Chemistry course to enhance environmental literacy of prospective chemistry teacher. The research method used was quasi-experiment. Problem based learning (PBL) approach was implemented at the control group, while PBL-STEM was implemented at the experimental group. The dimensions of Environmental literacy to be concerned were environmental competence, environmental knowledge, and attitudes towards environment. The results of research reveal that PBL-STEM education can be used as an effective approach to improve the environmental literacy of prospective chemistry teachers. The average improvement of environmental literacy and its dimensions in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group.

Institutional Drift of the Healthcare System in Poland – the Institutional Approach

The healthcare system in Poland has undergone a series of changes for many decades. For many years the entire system has been in a state of drift. The government has searched for a solution to this situation and a way out of the “path dependence”. Regardless of political aspects, centralisation has numerous disadvantages from the institutional point of view. In spite of the neo-classical approach in healthcare economics prevails in the literature, some scholars and practitioners propose alternative approaches, including institutional economics and its successor, New Institutional Economics. The approach emphasises the institutional environment of healthcare and take consideration of many different stakeholders, including informal institutions, thereby provides a broader view of the national healthcare system. The article attempts to examine the main challenges to the healthcare system in Poland from an institutional point of view. Suggestions are offered for how policy makers and industry players may initiate institutional change in healthcare.

The aim of this article is to analyze the sense of counting, its manifestation and development while building on the views of some authors regarding cognitive activity, anticipation, the interrelationship between logic and intuition, the use of visuals and the system approach. The methods which are used imply appropriate selection of tasks in which the learning information is synthesized around basic concepts with regulatory functions. Two geometric tasks are used to demonstrate the results of the analysis. The first one requires the counting of dots in a construction. Several solutions have been offered which incorporate different approaches to finding the solution i.e. counting. The second task requires the counting of triangles in a geometric drawing. The discovery of the right solution has been described with an emphasis on rationality in counting, realized through the means of pre-search of repetitive structures. Detailed intermediate drawings reflecting the individual stages of arriving at a decision have been prepared for this task. In addition, there are four extra Combinatorics tasks to be solved without the use of ready-made formulas. What is important for these tasks is to master the algorithm that will facilitate counting. Finally, a conclusion has been drawn about the prerequisites for anticipation and the cases in which the sense of counting can be manifested and developed

The article studies the essay on a civil issue focusing on its specific topicality and the discussion issue set out in the headline. The defense of the personal stance is examined in a pragmatic perspective allowing for a choice of argumentation approaches and discourse techniques according to the communication context. Fifty students’ essays have been researched in view of the argumentation and civil competences shown. The results of the analysis of the essays may help the Bulgarian language and literature teacher prepare their own project for the development of written argumentation skills.
