Over the years, leadership has proven to be one of the most important social factors that influence organizational performance. Leadership is even more crucial in difficult situations – such as those generated by the COVID‑19 pandemic. The present paper aimed at investigating the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational identification in both pandemic and post‑pandemic contexts. Standards of Disciplinary Conduct for the Corporate Directors: Perspective of the United States of America

Standards of Disciplinary Conduct for the Corporate Directors: Perspective of the United States of America

Author(s): Erjola Aliaj,Edvana Tiri / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

Administration of corporate activity is the daily preoccupation of corporate directors. Delegation of decision-making to the director, who is an independent player within the company, can clearly create the risk of conflicting his interests with the interests of the shareholders. This potential conflict of interests is a consequence of the division of ownership of the company and the control powers of the company's commercial activity. The delegation of decision-making authority to the directors of the company may cause the risk of the temptation of the director to the assets of the company. In addition, directors may also be tempted by opportunities for profit that arise during the exercise of their function, instead of using these opportunities for the company. For this reason, it is necessary to foresee clear disciplinary parameters, to avoid and eliminate the conflict of interest, as well as the prohibition of competition. In the present paper, through a legal assessment, special attention has been paid to the main categories of standards: elimination of conflict of interest and prohibition of competition. The main aim of this paper is to analyze the US doctrine, legal provisions, which regulate the two standards of disciplinary conduct for the corporate directors, as well as the court practice in this regard. Also, an important objective of this paper is that it may serve as an important basis for further comparative studies in this field with other jurisdictions. Such analysis is based on the qualitative method, which contains also the research, analytical, descriptive, interpretive methods. The result of this paper will stimulate debate in the academic level and contribute to further improvements of our company legislation, as well to the legal doctrine in Albania that lacks such.

The implementation of this model of production organization has faced certain reluctance, caused by the retroactive way of designing and treating processes. The key element, which reluctantly accepted the implementation of quality management systems, was the operator, which required a longer period, necessary for this phenomenon awareness. Continuous quality improvement has become applicable in terms of process and product quality control and monitoring only after the implementation of the KPI (Key Performance Indicators) system.

Author(s): Hilma Harmen,Muhammad Bukhori Dalimunthe,Wildansyah Lubis,Lokot Muda Harahap,Raudah Zaimah Dalimunthe / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2021

The purpose of this paper is to explore the collaboration that has been implemented in the curriculum as a cooperation management model to support campus performance indicators. Cooperation management uses the management functions introduced by Robbins et al., namely planning, organizing, operating, coordinating and evaluating. The case studies used in this research involve all study programs (N = 9) at the Faculty of Economics Universitas Negeri Medan, Indonesia. The data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of items focused on a differential semantic scale and qualitative responses to all items submitted at the time of the interview. This paper also reveals the dominant functions of cooperation management performed in the study program, namely: organization (8.00), planning (7.87), coordination (7.75), action (7.56), respectively evaluation (6.96). The function of the actuating and evaluation components is a severe concern for campus leaders. Flexibility and commitment to fund management support is essential for existing collaborations and plans for cooperation on strategic objectives. The implications of the study's findings - the model of industrial cooperation to strengthen collaboration between the two sides will serve for the future.

Lean transformation: role of the lean manager

Lean transformation: role of the lean manager

Author(s): Norbert MÁTRAI / Language(s): English Issue: 33/2023

Lean leadership is often cited in the practitioner literature as an important factor in successful lean transformation. More and more companies are creating full-time lean manager position and dedicated lean teams. There is a lack of research in the literature on whether the integration of a full-time lean manager into the organisational structure improves the effectiveness of lean, and what are the duties and responsibilities of the lean manager. The research has demonstrated that the effectiveness of lean transformation is significantly higher in organisations with a full-time lean team. A dynamic relationship exists between the roles of the full-time lean manager and the company-wide change management framework. A model job description has been developed for the full-time lean manager position, in the context of the organisational change framework for lean manufacturing implementation. The model would serve as the basis for further empirical research and a recommendation for business leaders on how to design a full-time lean manager position in their company.

ETIČKO (ODGOVORNO) UPRAVLJANJE

Author(s): Ivan Nišavić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 4/2021

The paper, from the perspective of ethical theories, presents and analyzes the aspects of morality that fall under responsible leadership in the field of business ethics. It is an assumption that the idea of responsible leadership is derived from the aspect of morality that is governed by interest, which can be disguised for the sake of personal and/or material profit. In addition, answers are offered to questions concerning the importance and relevance of corporate social responsibility, as well as the status of corporations as moral agents. Those activities that go beyond purely business interest, such as socially responsible work or philanthropic work, are very useful and profitable and, in addition, understand companies as entities who, indirectly, have a specific dose of ethical responsibility, which ultimately makes them moral agents.

ELECTRE YÖNTEMİ İLE PERSONEL SEÇİMİ ÜZERİNE BİR VAKA ÇALIŞMASI

Author(s): Faika Özlem Karaçorlu,Üyesi Cemil Süslü / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 61/2024

Making choice when there is more than one and many candidates and criteria is called "multi-criteria decision making". It is very important for individuals and institutions to accurately evaluate the problemsolving and decision-making stages, choose the best, and reach the right decisions. The presence of a large number of options and criteria in many conflicting decision-making problems, it is difficult to reach the right conclusion. By converting qualitative data into quantitative, decision making will be possible with a scientific method and approach. In this study, the ELECTRE method is proposed to ensure the selection of the right candidate by evaluating the criteria that are important and effective in teacher selection and the conditions of the candidates. The weight scores of the criteria were determined by the CRITIC method. In our world of information and communication age, it is necessary to access and develop accurate information. For this reason, education and the presence of teachers in education are very important. Making education systems better quality will be possible with the presence of selected educators. Care should be taken to choose an educator who can guide students and parents and improve themselves. In this research, the ELECTRE method was used to select teachers for a private educational institution. As a result of the literature review, it has been determined that it is a method that provides the best decision at the selection stage. As a result of this research, it has been understood that ELECTRE is a suitable method in teacher selection and can be a guide in the selection of all kinds of educators.

SARADNJA, OSEĆAJ ZA PRAVDU I NEUROPOBOLJŠANJE

Author(s): Ivan Mladenović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2015

In this paper we shall explore the neurobiological basis of human cooperation, as well as some biomedical means for enhancing cooperation capacities that are already available, or that will be available in the near future. For that reason we will pay special attention to the role that hormone oxitocin (Oxt) plays in inducing trust among humans. Some recent experiments in neuroeconomics suggest that increase of the level of oxitocin in human brain increases readiness for cooperation. We shall argue that these experiments are crucially important for the enhancement debate, especially on the topic of moral enhancement. Nevertheless, we will raise several objections against the straightforward use of these experiments in pro-enhancement arguments. The first problem, that is biomedical in its nature, concerns the issue of side effects. The second problem is that increased readiness for cooperation may result in some unintended consequences both on individual and societal level. Finally, we will address the political problem of finding an adequate institutional response to the possibility of moral neuroenhancement.

Mbi administrimin sa më të mirë të vendakostimeve të trageteve

Author(s): Vasillaq Kedhi,Albina Basholli / Language(s): Albanian Issue: 1/2011

This study focuses on a research examining the relationships between the level of organizational intelligence in schools and teacher satisfaction and student achievement. Teachers' perceptions of organizational intelligence in the schools where they work and the effects of these perceptions on teacher satisfaction and student achievement were evaluated. According to the results of the study, teachers generally evaluated the level of organizational intelligence of the schools where they served as high. When teachers' perception of organizational intelligence was evaluated on the multidimensional organizational intelligence scale, a high average value was obtained. This shows that teachers attach importance to the ability of their schools to adapt quickly to changes, increase learning capacity, innovation and flexibility. In addition, there is a positive relationship between teachers' perception of organizational intelligence and teacher satisfaction. As can be understood, teachers' high evaluation of the level of organizational intelligence in their schools generally increases their level of satisfaction. When the relationship between student achievement and organizational intelligence is examined, it is seen that schools with high organizational intelligence generally contribute positively to student achievement. Good organizational intelligence can increase student-teacher interaction, manage educational resources more effectively, and provide students with a variety of learning opportunities. In conclusion, this study suggests that the level of organizational intelligence in schools can play an important role in teacher satisfaction and student achievement. In order to increase the level of organizational intelligence in schools, it is recommended to take strategic steps such as strengthening communication, providing professional development opportunities, and encouraging innovation. Implementation of these steps can increase the overall achievement level of schools and teacher satisfaction.

Integrated management of development in Functional Urban Areas. The case of metropolitan areas in Slovenia

Integrated management of development in Functional Urban Areas. The case of metropolitan areas in Slovenia

Author(s): Justyna Danielewicz / Language(s): English Issue: 68/2024

Metropolisation and globalisation have had a significant influence on space and development, both in terms of the physical and social aspects of the environment. Metropolitan areas have become engines of development, centres of economic activity, innovation, and culture, attracting people and businesses from all over the world. How-ever, this concentration of people and activities has also resulted in significant challenges concerning management of their sustainable development. Most of today’s challenges are spread across administrative borders and working at the level of the metropolitan area can help develop innovative solutions that benefit the wider functional urban are-as. Many of the problems faced by territories cut across sectors and effective solutions require an integrated approach to managing the development of functional urban areas (FUAs) and cooperation between the various authorities and stakeholders involved. The aim of this study is to evaluate the degree to which an integrated approach to develop-ment management is used in the management of metropolitan areas in Slovenia. The research focuses on FUAs of Ljubljana and Maribor. The results show that policy makers understand the need for integrated planning and management on a supralocal level. Local authorities commonly cooperate with each other using legitimate forms of institutional-ising inter-municipal cooperation.

ANALYSIS OF ANTECEDENTS AND CONSEQUENCES OF WORKPLACE-RELATED BURNOUT AMONG CROATIAN EMPLOYEES IN THE POST-COVID-19 ERA

Author(s): Bojan Morić Milovanović,Matea Cvjetković / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

. Employee burnout is considered a serious problem in today’s organizations, having severe repercussions both on individual and operational levels. A large number of studies have been conducted to identify antecedents and consequences of burnout but were mostly carried out in medical and other helping professions. This research aims to explore the burnout of employees working in Croatian companies by developing a multidimensional model that explores the influence of three elements that are considered typical features of today’s modern, post-pandemic workplace: information overload, demands at work, and multitasking. In addition, it observes the influence of burnout on employee decision-making style and the moderating effects of information accuracy and time pressure on the burnout-decision-making relationship. A total of 567 employees working in various industries and carrying out different professions completed an online survey, and linear regression analysis was applied to analyze the data. The results confirmed the direct positive effect of information overload and demands at work on burnout and the direct positive effect of burnout on poor decision-making style. This study is one of the first studies conducted in Croatia on employees in the business sector, so it contributes to the field with important theoretical implications and practical and managerial recommendations.
