Метаигрите на съзнанието

Метаигрите на съзнанието

Author(s): Nadezhda Todorova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

This study addresses the issues of screen synthesis through which a certain type of message is suggested; in this case: the impact of films featuring violence, cruelty, and aggression, as well as the polysemantic nature of the screen message and the transformation in the receptions of adolescents between 13 and 18 years old. The focus is on the motives for choosing topics in the film industry that are related to the interpretations of aggression and crime, mainly among young people. The emotional involvement of the viewer, especially during the period of physical and mental maturation, is a precarious process with unpredictable consequences and side effects. Playing with the audience, with their conscious perceptions and unconscious experiences, especially through attempts at manipulation, which are not missing, can prove to be a very dangerous (meta)territory.

Meaning-construction in everyday bilingualism. On the language attitudes of Hungarian-speaking youth in Romania

Meaning-construction in everyday bilingualism. On the language attitudes of Hungarian-speaking youth in Romania

Author(s): Erika-Mária Tódor,Enikő Tankó / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

In our presentation we will examine the diversity of linguistic attitudes of Hungarian speakers in Romania. Although there are several definitions for this concept from psychology and linguistics, linguistic attitudes are generally understood as the value judgments and attitudes that individuals form on the basis of their language socialization, language use and learning experience, in relation to languages, language varieties and language expressions. In our present research, we wanted to find out the speakers’ value judgments about the phenomenon of using Romanian and/or English loanwords in their everyday Hungarian communication. In our research paradigm we adopted a case-oriented, inductive, data-focused research towards which we applied a mixed approach: the data was collected through a questionnaire, then the focus group discussion highlighted the criteria respondents used in their value judgment, as well as their opinions about loanwords adopted from the two languages. The conversations also indirectly shed light on the way in which a minority community relates to the languages active in its linguistic environment.

On the changes in the Korean family institution in the past century

On the changes in the Korean family institution in the past century

Author(s): Elena Buja / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

This small-scale study aims to trace the changes that have occurred in the Korean family institution in a time span of about one hundred years, more specifically, since the beginning of the 20th century, when Korea opened its borders to foreigners, until the present, as well as to identify the causes that have led to these changes. The theoretical framework I will employ is thematic analysis, defined by Berelson (1952, 18) as “a research technique for the objective, systematic, and quantitative description of the manifest content of communication”. The data subjected to analysis come from a number of novels authored by Korean and Korean-American writers, such as H. Lee (1997) Still Life with Rice, S. Park (2011) This Burns My Heart, and NJ. Cho (2018) Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982, to mention just a few. The reason behind opting for literature as a source of information is that I consider it to be a cultural product of particular socio-cultural circumstances inextricably linked to history. The fragments from the novels have been analyzed in terms of some of the identified themes, such as the status roles created by marriage in the Korean culture, the involvement of men in the house chores and child-rearing, in-laws’ attitudes towards their daughters-in-law, and the chances of married women to keep their jobs, divorce, to mention just a few. The primary data is supplemented with information coming from the Korean society trend survey, conducted by Statistics Korea. The findings of the analysis will reveal a slow, though obvious change in the family institution, which could be attributed to factors such as the Western influence, the spread of Christianity in the peninsula, as well as the massive industrial, technological, and economic development of Korea.

Occupational Health of Frontline Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Is Health and Well-Being an Issue in Bangladesh?

Author(s): Md. Ismail Hossain,Nafiul Mehedi,Isahaque Ali,Azlinda Azman / Language(s): English Issue: 80/2023

The coronavirus outbreak has significantly affected the health and well-being of several people around the world. In a similar vein, Bangladeshi medical professionals have also been affected by several severe physical and mental health complications resulting from their frequent contact with COVID-19 patients. This exposes them to a greater risk of infection with the lethal virus, which can substantially impact their job performance. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the manner in which the COVID-19 pandemic affects the occupational health and safety of medical employees. The researchers deployed a descriptive qualitative technique to investigate the complexities of the COVID-19 crisis amongst medical practitioners. Employing purposeful sampling and in-depth interview techniques, the researchers collected data from a total of 32 healthcare professionals and investigated their state of occupational health, their exposure to stress and trauma, and the effects of stress and trauma on their livelihood, health and well-being. The data revealed the occupational health of healthcare workers as being fragile, resulting to stress and trauma, and eventually, a depressed state of mind. To address this issue, relevant government and non-governmental organizations should concentrate on reducing COVID-19-related risks and repercussions in hospital settings. In addition, policymakers, social workers, public health practitioners and psychologists must work together to ensure that healthcare workers are healthy and safe at work.

Author(s): Wirmandi Pamungkas,Nadia Tiara Budiono,Rudy Haryanto,Willy Gunadi / Language(s): English Issue: 80/2023

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has pushed many institutions, regardless of whether they are ready or not, to adapt work from home (WFH) practices. This study aims to evaluate how work stress, workload, work-life balance, and work motivation affect millennials’ intention to leave their jobs during work from home implementation. There were 224 millennial respondents in the Greater Jakarta Area who experienced WFH set-ups because of the COVID-19 outbreak that filled out the questionnaires. The PLS-based SEM technique was then used to examine the data that had been obtained. The results showed a significant effect from working from home on workload, work stress, work-life balance, and motivation. Additionally, it found that workload and work stress have significant effects on the turnover intention. Work-life balance and work motivation, according to the results, have no significant effects on turnover intention. As a result, management should consider the workload and work stress while evaluating the effectiveness of the use of the type of assignment. More factors that influence turnover intentions need to be considered in future studies.

Author(s): Catalin-George Fedor / Language(s): English Issue: 80/2023

The paper presents the results of a sociological study conducted in a multi-confessional community situated in the central area of Moldova, Romania. Its main aim was to establish the way in which social distance is perceived and affirmed in this rural community. We used the scale of social distance, starting from the model developed by Bogardus (1925), which has become the most frequently used method of emphasizing the acceptance or isolation of social groups. We calculated the Social Distance Index (SDI), the Social Contact Index (SCI), and the Qualitative Index of Social Contacts (QISC). Results are focused on inter-confessional issues, and conclusions reveal a community open to what is close and known, but reluctant to what is distant and less known.

Исследование социально-профессиональной успешности личности на основе персонификации субъекта деятельности

Author(s): Vera Stepanovna Tretyakova,Anastasia Evgenievna Kaigorodova,Anton Alexandrovich Sharov,Evald Friedrichovich Zeer / Language(s): Russian Issue: 3/2023

Introduction. The article addresses the problem of ensuring the personification of the individual in the conditions of preparing for professional career. The aim of the study is to identify the main structural components of personification and to clarify their role in the transformation of the internal structure of the personality that determines the social and professional success of the actor (the subject of the activity). Materials and Methods. The methodological basis of the study was V. A. Petrovsky’s conception of personalization and the conception of personification by A. B. Orlov, as well as the theory of psychological science, which considers a person as an active subject capable of self-determination and self-improvement. The main approaches to the scientific analysis were the subject-activity and system ones. The research methods included theoretical and methodological analysis of scholarly literature, the author's interpretation of the basic provisions of the concepts of personalization and personification, methods of design, modeling, specification and classification, generalization and prognostics. Results. Based on the deep essence and psychological nature of personification, the authors identified three basic semantic components of this phenomenon and justified the content of each of them. It was established that the identified components of personification provide the formation of such new psychological formations as personality traits that determine full functioning of the personality and its professional and personal self-efficacy as a subject of activity. The interrelations between the components of personification and personality characteristics that ensure its full functioning were revealed. As a result of the research, a matrix of personification subject was constructed, which comprehensively reflects the integral abilities of the individual, ensuring social and professional success of the subject of activity. Conclusions. Personification as an integral characteristic of individual psychological traits of a person ensures the stability of subjectivity, individuality and identity of personality – new psychological formations that make it possible to consider this phenomenon as an internal leading activity in enhancing social maturity by fulfilling personal potential and excessive social and professional activity of the subject. In the conditions of professional preparation in a new personalized format of education, where the main driving force is the personality of the student, it is important to form such properties that will ensure the professional and personal productivity of the actor. It is the personification of the individual that is the most important predictor of the socio-professional success of the actor in the conditions of preparation for professional activity. The study showed that the personification of personality is constructive and can serve as a psychological basis for a comprehensive study of the subject of activity, their self-development and self-fulfillment.

Prospects of preparing future teachers for intercultural interaction in the accelerated learning conditions

Author(s): Tatiana A. Zhukova,Vladimir I. Bogoslovskiy,Irina Vyacheslavovna Gladkaya,Ekaterina Yu Andreeva,Аlexander N. Dzhurinskiy / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2023

Introduction. This article focuses on development prospects of preparing future teachers for intercultural interaction in conditions of accelerated learning. The aim of the study is to identify the core development prospects for preparing future teachers for intercultural interaction in conditions of accelerated learning. Materials and Methods. The study followed a systematic approach, the implementation of which made it possible to comprehensively consider a specific precedent, identify its components, and determine the significance of each component that ensures the integrity of the precedent under consideration. The authors used analysis of scholarly literature and research results as the main research method. Results. The theoretical analysis of the scholarly literature allowed the authors to arrive at the following research results. Firstly, the authors substantiated the role of two research methods that are supposed to form the basis of comparative analysis (the method of precedents and the method of expert assessments). Secondly, the authors established conceptual foundations for designing a model of accelerated learning in the process of teacher preparation, based on the equal status of cultures, which is based on the dialogue of cultures. The authors emphasize the importance of studying emerging practices in each region, considered as possible precedents. So, as an example, the experience of the Pedagogical Institute in Ludwigsburg, which has developed practices for preparing teachers for intercultural interaction, is proposed (examples of disciplines, types of teaching internships that are actively used in the process of teacher education are provided). Conclusions. The authors have proposed and clarified the prospects for the development of teachers’ preparation for intercultural interaction in the context of accelerated learning. They include the implementation of new methods and designing a model of accelerated learning within the process of teacher education. The results obtained can become the basis for further study of the problem of preparing highly qualified educators in the conditions of accelerated learning. Materials and results of this research can be used to develop programs aimed at preparing future teachers for intercultural interaction in multicultural regions.
