C. G. Jung a Hermann Hesse: Umìní, terapie a zdroje tvorby

C. G. Jung a Hermann Hesse: Umìní, terapie a zdroje tvorby

Author(s): Pavel Kalina / Language(s): Czech Issue: 3/2015

An intimate relationship of Hermann Hesse to analytical psychology, based on his personal contact with C. G. Jung and his disciple J. B. Lang, belongs to the well-known topics from the history both of literature and of psychotherapy of the past century. The foregoing studies were, however, writte in the time when Jung´s pivotal work, The Red Book, was not available to the public. The Book was written as a medieval manuscript where an important role is played not only by words but also by pictures which were painted by Jung himself. In this article I deal with the question how far it is possible to use Hesse´s texts, especially his novel Demian, for better understanding of Jung´s ideas, in particular his approach to images in the framework of the therapeutic process at the time when The Red Book was written. Besides, I will analyze the hypothetical pictorial sources which could have been used by Jung when writing The Red Book. These sources could have been the works of the Beuron school which could be known to Jung either from his own experience or from photos and postcards. The extensive visual culture of the time of the “print capitalism” could supply the visual inspiration both to Jung, and to Hesse.

Author(s): Radan Březina / Language(s): Czech Issue: 2/2014

Freud predicted the future integration of psychoanalysis and neurobiological research of the human mind. Some psychoanalysts and neuroscientists think that the time for reintegration is coming now. Neuropsychoanalyst, Mark Solms, tries to verify psychoanalytical theories – here the theory of dreams – by modern neuroscientific methods. Neuroscientist, Eric Kandel, features aims for psychoanalysis, which are unvoidable for integration into neuroscience.

Face reading the emotions of gelotophobes toward disparaging humorous advertising

Author(s): Maria C. Voutsa,Leonidas Hatzithomas,Eirini Tsichla,Christina Boutsouki / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

Prior research has indicated that gelotophobia, people’s fear of being laughed at, influences their emotions toward a disparaging humorous event. Based on two experiments with a sample of 50 Greek participants each, the present study employed face recognition software to explore the emotions of gelotophobes, when exposed to an advertisement. It further examined the moderating role of the type of advertisement (i.e. a disparaging humorous ad vs. a nondisparaging non-humorous ad) and identification with the victim of the joke, on gelotophobes' emotions. At higher levels of identification with the victim, gelotophobes indicated lower levels of joy, joyful (Duchenne) smile, and a positive emotional valence toward a disparaginghumorous advertisement as opposed to non-gelotophobes. Joy was also found to mediate the negative effects of gelotophobia on attitude toward the ad.

Obilježja ranog rječničkog razvoja u djece s poremećajem iz spektra autizma

Obilježja ranog rječničkog razvoja u djece s poremećajem iz spektra autizma

Author(s): Klara Popcevic / Language(s): English,Croatian Issue: 1/2022

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder primarily characterised by deficits in social interaction and communication. Based on some theoretical approaches, these deficits provide an unstable foundation for language acquisition. In the earliest stages of language development, this may be reflected in the vocabulary development of children with ASD. Possible deviations in vocabulary development have been investigated at the level of rate of word acquisition and vocabulary composition. Although studies have confirmed that there is significant variability in the language abilities of children with ASD, in many cases, these children experience a delay in the production of first words and acquire words at a slower rate. As a result, the size of their vocabulary is often smaller than expected based on their chronological age. A small body of research points to possible deviations in vocabulary development (i.e., developmental trajectories of specific word classes). Vocabulary composition differs to some extent in typologically different languages, suggesting that vocabulary development in children with ASD needs to be studied in different languages. For Croatian, there is currently no information on the vocabulary development of children with this disorder. Based on a review of literature, this paper highlights important methodological implications for further research on vocabulary development, as well as clinical implications for speech therapy interventions aimed at supporting language development in children with ASD.

The development of analytical rubrics: An avenue to assess students' mathematical reasoning behavior

Author(s): Rohati Rohati,Yaya S. Kusumah,Kusnandi Kusnandi / Language(s): English Issue: 8/2022

A rubric is a logical set of criteria that teachers can use to evaluate students to determine criteria for obtaining complex competencies. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop a rubric and assess its effectiveness in evaluating students' mathematical reasoning behavior when solving mathematical problems. This rubric was developed based on four stages: reflecting, listing, grouping, and applying using generic model research design in education. Furthermore, the meta-rubric and expert input results are applied to improve its quality. The results showed that the rubric developed was able to consistently provide more feedback and provide teachers with additional opportunities to optimally assess the mathematical reasoning behavior of the students. This study recommends that there be further studies on the ability of teachers to understand students' mathematical reasoning levels to help students progress from the lowest level of reasoning to the highest level. In the end, students have creative mathematical reasoning abilities.

Теория на основателните решения: парадоксът на Але и логиката на действието

Author(s): Rosen Lyutskanov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2022

The present paper introduces a novel formalism for analysis of practical arguments, called reason-based decision theory. In (§1) I provide an analogy between logic and decision theory, motivated by the role that reasons play in both fields of inquiry. (§2) elaborates on the idea of reason-based choice proposed by Shafir, Simonson, and Tversky (1993). In (§3) I illustrate how this idea can be applied to the analysis of the famous paradox of Allais. (§4) sketches the logical formalism of reason-based decision theory, while (§5) presents the different forms of practical argumentation. It is shown that they are sufficient for the solution of any dilemma. Finally, (§6) provides a game-theoretical semantics of the logical formalism and discusses the possibilities for its further elaboration.

Rein Vihalemm: ‘On Stages of Cognition’

Rein Vihalemm: ‘On Stages of Cognition’

Author(s): Rein Vihalemm / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

In all epistemological studies one has to employ, in one way or another, the concepts of “sensuous and rational knowledge,” “empirical and theoretical knowledge,” “essence and phenomenon.” But, unfortunately, the logical relationships of these concepts are not understood unambiguously, which prevents many epistemological issues from being examined with sufficient theoretical clarity. The author of many articles and dissertations on the categories of essence and phenomenon, V. S. Nikitchenko, considers the process of transition from phenomenon to essence in cognition as a transition from sensuous knowledge to rational knowledge.

Модель порождения речи школы Л.С. Выготского: основы и верификация

Author(s): T. V. Akhutina / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1-2/2022

In this article, the development and verification of the A.A. Leontiev–T.V. Akhutina model of speech production based on L.S. Vygotsky’s ideas is discussed. The conceptual and experimental background of L.S. Vygotsky’s theory of speech thinking is analyzed. The ideas of this theory opened the way to a prudent approach to understanding the controversy in psycholinguistics of the 1960s–1970s (works by A.A. Leontiev), A.R. Luria’s findings in aphasiology, and the results of T.V. Akhutina’s research in the field of agrammatism. This determined, in many ways, the specifics of the general framework of the model. The major psycholinguistic concepts elaborated in the 1970s are considered, i.e., those introduced by Ch. Fillmore, C. Lee and S. Thompson, J. Bruner and E. Bates, all shedding light on the syntactic operations of the model. The verification of these ideas in the studies describing syntax in children’s speech, “pidgin” and creole languages, etc. is carried out. The recent observations of the problem being studied at the intersection of linguistics, psychology, and neurosciences are summarized. Particular attention is paid to R. Jackendoff and E. Wittenberg’s review of “linear” languages, as well as to the experimental studies by R. Tomlin, A. Myachikov, A. Konopka that fit with the A.A. Leontiev–T.V. Akhutina model of speech production. The conclusion is made about the high explanatory potential of L.S. Vygotsky’s ideas and the model based on them.

Билингвизм и регуляторные функции у дошкольников: обзор исследований

Author(s): A. A. Tvardovskaya,Valerian Faritovich Gabdulkhakov,N. N. Novik / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1-2/2022

Cognitive development and bilingualism in preschool childhood have recently become the pivotal research issues. This article is a brief review of the major studies covering the problem of how bilingualism influences both cognitive development and academic success in preschool children, as well as whether bilingual education determines the development of executive functions. We paid special attention to the data obtained on the development of executive functions in bilingual and monolingual children that help to understand whether there are any differences between the two groups. Using the international citation databases, we identified the publications of the studies of cognitive development in children under the conditions of bilingualism. The results of the analysis were exported in the VOSviewer environment and visualized as key clusters. The findings of the Russian and foreign studies showing the ambiguity of the connection between mono- and bilingualism in children and their cognitive development were described and compared. Interestingly, the studies in preschool institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia) established that bilingualism has a positive effect on the cognitive abilities of children, if the anthropology of the linguistic personality (types of bilingualism) and the multicultural conditions of language interference and transposition are taken into account.

Prenses ve Kurbağa Animasyonunun Jungiyen Analizi: Kapitalizmin Gölgesindeki Kolektif Psişe

Author(s): Ayşe Dilara Bostan / Language(s): Turkish Issue: Sp. Iss./2022

In this study, a psychological reading of the animation The Princess and the Frog (2009), a postmodern fairy tale adaptation, will be made with a Jungian approach. The film is a product of Disney, the oldest animation company in America, and like other products, it is compatible with the capitalist ideology. However, in this study, we will be considering it as an archetypal narrative because it is a fairy tale adaptation and uses the narrative elements of the tale. According to the Jungian approach, fairy tales open the doors of the archetypal world and carry information about the psychic processes of the collective unconscious also can compensate for the conscious attitudes of the collective. In this study, the Princess and the Frog is examined from the psychoanalytical perspective focusing on the fairy tale aspect. This paper analyzes the tale according to the method of the Jungian analyst Marie Louise von Franz. Accordingly, the analysis revealed that eros and logos attitudes were re-established in the film, especially in the female character. As a result, capitalism collectively pushes women to a logos-dominant behavior and distances them from the feminine archetype. After all, this study discusses the information presented by the tale about the collective unconscious regarding Disney’s conscious/cultural attitude.

Investigation of the Relationship of Self-Efficacy, Self-Regulation and Metacognitive Awareness with Academic Performance through Artificial Neural Networks

Investigation of the Relationship of Self-Efficacy, Self-Regulation and Metacognitive Awareness with Academic Performance through Artificial Neural Networks

Author(s): Enis Harun Başer,Samet Demir / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

Metacognition is defined as individuals having knowledge and control over their own cognitive systems. Self-efficacy for teacher candidates is defined as a teacher's belief in the capacity or ability of his students to create the desired learning outcomes. Self-regulatory learning, on the other hand, is defined as thoughts, feelings and actions that are planned and applied cyclically to achieve an individual goal. In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy, self-regulation and metacognitive awareness scores and academic performance. In other studies, in the relevant literature, the relationship between academic performance and three variables, whose relationship with academic performance is examined separately, will be examined as a whole. At the same time, it will be checked whether there is a significant difference between the groups in three variable scores according to various variables. Since the aim of the research is to examine the relationship between the factors affecting the self-efficacy, self-regulation and metacognitive awareness scores of teacher candidates and the variables in question and academic performance, the relational screening model suitable for these purposes was used. The population of the research consists of teacher candidates studying in the 2022-2023 academic year at the faculty of education at a state university in the Aegean Region. The appropriate sampling method was used for data collection. Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale adapted to Turkish by Çapa, Çakıroğlu and Sarıkaya (2005), Self-regulatory Learning Skills Scale developed by Turan (2009), and Metacognitive Awareness Scale developed by Fırat Durdukoca and Arıbaş (2019) were used as data collection tools. As a result of the research, no significant difference was found in the variables of gender, department, quality of the family residence. It was determined that there was no significant relationship between family and student income variables and scale scores. In the class variable, it was found that there was a significant difference in favor of upper classes according to the three scale scores. In addition, it was determined that the three scale scores explained 47% of the total variance in academic performance..
