Zagadnienia etyczne a edukacja polskich menedżerów

Zagadnienia etyczne a edukacja polskich menedżerów

Author(s): Łukasz Sułkowski,Grzegorz Ignatowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 34/2016

Research objective: Presentation and analysis of the ethical issues that should be taken into account in education of managers. The research problem and methods: The image of an organization in the future depends on the way managers are educated. Ethics occupies an important place in the educational process. Negative experiences of such a well-known company as ‘Enron’ show that managers’ commitment can have serious economic and social consequences. This refers not only to the collapse of businesses and layoffs of workers but also results in the weakening of interpersonal relations and the reduction of social trust. The article is based on the analysis of subject literature. The process of argumentation: The choice of issues analyzed in the article was dictated by personal experiences of the authors, who regularly deal with the education of managers. In their considerations they refer to major publications, which support the importance of the issues described in the article. Research results: The authors realize that education of managerial staff with the emphasis on ethics does not guarantee the growth of moral standards in business, as the law and local culture influence them as well. In Poland the educational standards in economic areas primarily include specialized subjects related to management and economics. Only several universities offer ethics as a compulsory subject. This state of affairs reveals that the programs emphasize the transfer of professional skills and ignore the moral aspects, which are crucial to efficient business operations of managers. Conclusions, innovations and recommendation: In the authors’ opinion, issues such as the problem of instrumental and dehumanized treatment of employees, the loss of corporate social responsibility, a cooperative approach to problems, a manipulatory attitude towards customers, the practice of unfair competition and the understanding of issues related to environmental protection should be reflected in the curricula for future managers. Without them, it is difficult to talk of permanent existence of enterprises in the demanding market.

Prawne aspekty wsparcia działalności innowacyjnej pracowników naukowych

Author(s): Magdalena Krawczyk / Language(s): Polish Issue: 34/2016

Research objective: The aim of the article is to identify the attitudes that effectively provide legal support for researchers who are engaged in innovative projects aimed at economic growth and who cooperate with entrepreneurs. The research problem and methods: The problem analyzed in the article is the discrepancy in the interpretation of the basic terms from the field of research and development and the threats to researchers’ intellectual property rights connected with it. By presenting an overview of subject literature, the author analyses the legal aspects of the cooperation between business and science. The process of argumentation: The article presents tools which can be used to protect intellectual property rights in such a way that economic success of universities and entrepreneurs is guaranteed without violating the rights of scientists directly involved in a particular study. Attention is drawn to common practices in which human capital must give way to business and marketing. The article indicates the key role of universities as owners of intellectual property rights – a party to agreements of the transfer of innovation and a representative of the rights of scientists. Research results: This article draws attention to the significance of the implementation of the results of scientific research. Due to differences in the interpretation of the term ‘technology transfer’, the author postulates replacing it with the term ‘innovation transfer’. Conclusions, innovations and recommendations: An increasing number of commercialized results of studies conducted by universities has become an important determinant of competitiveness of universities. Skillful management of the intellectual property rights registered for universities, which helps to effectively transfer innovation, seems particularly important.

Placing students’emotions at the heart of the learning process, a challenge for teachers

Placing students’emotions at the heart of the learning process, a challenge for teachers

Author(s): Daniela Scorțan / Language(s): English Issue: 76/2022

School is the place where emotions can constitute an obstacle to learning or facilitate it. Feelings of insecurity and even fear are often the cause of failure. It is then a question of trying to control parasite emotions in order to promote a meaningful and more serene learning. This article focuses on students’emotions as processes which, given their cerebral implementations in relation to the systems involved in motivation, attention and memory are at the heart of learning process. Researches suggest that emotional skills are beneficial to both well-being and academic performance. Emotions support attention, working memory, encoding, memory consolidation or processes related to executive control (inhibition). Those cognitive processes are also necessary for academic learning. Emotions therefore accompany the students within the classroom, and may interfere with learning or consolidate it. Research on emotions, their cerebral bases and functions, invite us to question the idea according to which emotions hinder school learning; on the contrary, even if emotions can indeed sometimes affect learning, experimental results suggest that they often facilitate cognitive processes such as attention and memory, which are essential for learning. Moreover, the fact that emotions have an important role in the process of learning suggests that it is important for the student to be able to know, control and use them, in an academic context.

Google Workspace is an electronic platform containing a system of digital tools enabling the creation, storage and sharing of digital documents, communication and collaboration through cloud technology in school management and learning. The 1:1 (One to One) model is used to organise the learning process, where each student and teacher has their own electronic device and a personal profile (account) linked to it, which they can access anywhere and at any time. The model involves the use of digital technology as a resource and platform. It changes the role of both the teacher and the student. The teacher becomes the mentor and the students search, select and create learning content.

PARTICULARITIES OF SENSORY PROCESSING IN CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

PARTICULARITIES OF SENSORY PROCESSING IN CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Author(s): Victoria Maximciuc / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 35/2023

A major issue in social and educational inclusion is sensory processing disorders in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The research issue is argued in the paper based on literature survey. After the psycho-pedagogical experiment, the following were found: difficulties in social development (play relationships, development of communication skills), failure to develop psychological processes, emotional-behavioural development (agitation, negativity, and selfishness), and failure to develop activity. Under the "senses" parameter, sensory desynchronization is noticed in touch, movement and hearing. In "other sensory skills", sensory desynchronization is predominantly noticed in organisation and the socio-emotional field. These data confirm that due to sensory desynchronization (sensory processing disorders), students have major difficulties in functioning in activity, eating, organization, sleep and social-emotional skills. Following these results, recommendations were presented.

WHAT THE PANDEMIC HAS TAUGHT US – HOW TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO KEEP THEIR CAMERAS ON

Author(s): Diana Stoica / Language(s): English Issue: 35/2023

Enhancing interaction in the online classroom is a major consideration in ensuring that students actively participate to create their own knowledge and reach a high level of achievement in learning Romanian as a foreign language. This idea came to my mind during an online conference where a colleague stated that it is ok for students to keep their cameras closed and that teachers do not have the right to pry into students’ lives. While agreeing with the latter, I asked myself why I need students to open cameras and why it is crucial for me to see them. I also thought that until now no teacher would have thought of strategies of encouraging their students to be more involved in the remote classes. This is a novelty for teachers worldwide and I took it as a great advantage and an opportunity to learn new things related to my profession.

The Pedagogy Pill - An Alternative Approach to Preschool Education

Author(s): Ghiță Adelina Iulia / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

From the very early years of life, a child develops a strong bond with their parents, and crying is the strategy through which a child signals discomfort by non-satisfaction with his grievances. Gradually, the child learns that when they scream, their mother tends to respond promptly to their signal. At such a tender age, the child does not understand the role of rules or the prohibition of acting in accordance with the ideals desired by the parents, making it a period with many challenges for parents and other educational agents (teachers, grandparents, relatives). The discrepancy between the child's desires and those of the parents can lead to tensions between parent and child. Positive parenting comes to the aid of parents who want to understand the mechanisms behind the child's actions and provide optimal solutions to the specific problems of this age.
