"Pridodato u prevodu": nematerijalno kulturno nasleđe u prevođenju i primeni evropskih politikâ doživotnog obrazovanja u Republici Srbiji

Author(s): Ljubica Milosavljević,Miloš Milenković / Language(s): Serbian / Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Vladimir Dosev / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 6/2020

The University of Economics – Varna was founded on May 14, 1920 and this year it celebrates its 100th anniversary. Already in the first university curricula very serious attention was paid to the foreign language training of the future economists, and the number of foreign language classes exceeded the number of classes in any other subject. Prominent philologists who had graduated abroad were recruited to teach foreign languages, and foreign nationals were regularly invited to deliver lectures at the University. Two of the foreign language professors were elected rectors of the University. The purpose of this article is to outline the role of languages in the first university curricula (1920 – 1940 г.) and to promote the names and work of the first language teachers at the University of Economics – Varna.

1300 ГОДИНИ ОТ РОЖДЕНИЕТО НА ГЕБЕР – УЧЕНИЯТ НАЧАЛО И ФУНДАМЕНТ НА АРАБСКАТА АЛХИМИЯ

Author(s): Nano Stepanov / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 5/2021

Geber (Latinized name of Jabir ibn Hayyan (c. 721 – c. 815)) is among the most notable representatives of medieval chemistry. The article, dedicated to the 1300th anniversary of his birth, tries to depict his work as the beginning and groundwork for Arabic alchemy, also serving as a push for the formation of chemistry in the future. The article touches upon his life, characteristics, evaluation of his works, doubts about his identity and authorship. His influences are examined and his achievements in the area of metallurgy (sulfur-mercury theory, characterizing all known metals), knowledge of `secret` (stimulating the transmutation of metals) substances, mineral acids, salts, chemical processes and apparatus, his contributions to practical chemistry prove the broadness of his interests. His rational and practical approach is acknowledged and also his “outer” spiritualism present in the terminology inherited by the authors of Alexandria. The legacy he leaves – his authority, influence on the development of chemistry and followers – Arabic medical alchemists. In the conclusion his services to science and civilization are summarized.

1898. 25 години от обесването на Левски: юбилей и преса

Author(s): Elena Getova / Language(s): Bulgarian / Publication Year: 0

The year 1898 marked the first jubilee of Vasil Levski – 25 years since his hanging. The dynamics of political processes in liberated Bulgaria at the time present a rather interesting and particularly complex picture against the background of which this event unfolded. The stereotype of jubilee celebrations was yet to consolidate and this particular occasion – the anniversary since the death of the Apostle of freedom – makes visible the deep political contradictions inherited from previous historical realities. The manifestations of these contradictions can be seen in the press in 1898.

Insights, academic achievements and future prospects

Author(s): Simona Sava,Anca Luştrea / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2019

In 2019, the Journal of the Educational Studies (JES) celebrates its 20th anniversary, which is not automatically self-explanatory, not for a Romanian scientific journal in this discipline, and not even for any other prestigious scientific journal. Our journal has faced three main challenges in this period: first, the question of language and internationalization, closely linked to the delivery mode, secondly, the changes of the institutional context, and finally, the development of the discipline. In what follows, we will outline the development of the JES according to the challenges mentioned above, give an overview of the topics and structure adopted by the JES for the last 20 years and highlight the contributions to this special edition on the topic of generational and scientific changes in educational research in this period.

A BRIEF ANALYSIS OF THE PROS AND CONS OF ONLINE ADAPTIVE LEARNING AND EDUCATION

A BRIEF ANALYSIS OF THE PROS AND CONS OF ONLINE ADAPTIVE LEARNING AND EDUCATION

Author(s): Sebastian Vaida / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2020

Ever since ancient times, education has been a topic of interest for many civilizations. Seen as a means of progress, education was the main focus for some countries like Finland, and almost ignored by others. In the last decade, a new term has appeared in regard to education: adaptive learning. Used almost ubiquitous, the term has gained fame due to its presence in a 2013 program launched by the Gates Foundation, abbreviated ALMAP (Adaptive Learning Market Acceleration Program). This program changed into a grant that funded 14 higher education organizations to implement 9 adaptive learning products into 23 courses. The aim was to test and gather data on the impact of these programs of student outcomes. Almost instantly, the term became famous and used by many in their marketing and promotional strategies. In this brief analysis, we discuss the definitions, terminology, use, and pros and cons of adaptive learning in online education.

A Combinatorial Question Related to an Easter Tradition Led to a New Entry in OEIS

Author(s): Ivaylo Kortezov / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2021

In some regions of Bulgaria (at least) there is an Easter tradition, according to which in group of people first each one chooses a differently coloured egg, then each pair of people performs a swap (or swaps) by exchanging the eggs they currently have until everyone gets the originally chosen egg. This generates a natural question: if there are n people in the group, find the least number E(n) of swaps which makes this possible. We prove that E(n) is the least even number not less than n(n−1)/2. The sequence thus generated was added to the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences and linked from there to several seemingly distant combinatorial results.

A Concept for Inclusive Physical Education Training Program for Future Pre-School and Primary-School Teachers

Author(s): Galena Terzieva / Language(s): English / Issue: 5/2019

The adoption of new normative documents in the field of education in Bulgaria determines the inclusion of children with special educational needs in general education schools. The significant and integral role which physical education plays in the educational process poses the question of the inclusion of children with impairments in motor activity training as well. Teachers implementing it contribute greatly to its positive effects. The main features of physical education include active motor activity and the related physical workload. In order for them to be adapted successfully to the specific needs of children with different disabilities, more specialized training is required. The analysis of the curricula of the faculties of education in Bulgaria shows that future pre-school and primary school teachers who will be responsible for the physical education of children in kindergartens and primary schools respectively do not receive appropriate training in adaptive physical education. The aim of this article is to present a concept for introducing a training programme on “Motor Activity Training and Inclusive Physical Education”, intended for students of the specialty Preschool and Primary School Education at the Faculty of Education, Trakia University, Bulgaria.

A Conceptual Framework to Assess University Participation in Lifelong Learning

Author(s): Alina Irina Popescu / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2013

Lifelong learning has grabbed the attention of both scholars and practitioners in the last decade and has developed into an orientation embraced by universities from all over the world as creators of knowledge and providers of learning for the knowledge economy. This article proposes a conceptual framework to assess universities’ participation in lifelong learning activities based on previous researches conducted by the author on Romanian universities involvement in lifelong learning. The proposed framework is envisaged to act as a practical management tool that can be used to obtain a holistic overview of the implementation of lifelong learning activities in Romanian universities: the forms of learning, the contexts of learning, the types of learning activities, the mostly used financial instruments to finance lifelong learning activities by Romanian universities.
