Summary/Abstract: I present the phenomenon of the 10-year activity of the Historical Reconstruct Association of the Fourth Legion Infantry Regiment in Kielce. I discuss the genesis of the group, its composition and its statutory goals in the field of historical and civic education. Then I present selected examples how these goals are accomplished– performing battles of Polish armies from the Second World War and theJanuary Uprising, recreating events from Martial Law in Poland, standing on honour guards, giving lessons and historical presentations, making dioramas, printing scientific publications of the group members, participation in making films, taking care for integration between the generations, cooperation with cultural institutions and with other groups of historical reconstruction, with the authorities and school directors.I’m writing about the plans and current issues of the group (financial issues; collection, purchase and maintenance of the equipment; acquiring specialized historical knowledge). Due to the unquestionable cognitive-educational and socio-civic values, associated with patriotism and historical memory of events, ways of fighting, technological processes, people and material culture, I suggest the support of historical reconstruction groups by local governments and state authorities.
