Author(s): Desislava Vladimirova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2019

The medieval prisons are part of the Islamic governing system as in the Near East as in the Magreb. The sources about their organization and working methods are rare and straggling. Whatever, medieval Islamic prisons deserve an attention because they are connected with the general institutional environment in the Islamic lands. This article surveys the Islamic prisons in Sicily in the period 9th-11th century. It begins with a review of the emergence of the first Islamic prisons. This information serves as both forming initial impressions and a basis of the subsequent analysis. An important contribution of the article is the collected information from different by language, type and time historical sources. Their careful readings, coupled with a compare analysis, allow us to draw conclusions about the characteristics and location of the medieval Sicilian prisons. Comparison with the prisons in the other Islamic lands over the same historical period shows us common features. This makes it possible to conclude that the penal institutions on the island follow and work on a well-established model.

Съвременната медицина – наука или изкуство?

Author(s): Veselina Slavova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2019

The aim of the current paper is to discuss medicine as a unity of scientific knowledge, acquired skills, and attitude based on moral responsibility. Following an analysis of the terms ‘science’ and ‘art’, it is suggested that neither of them singlehandedly satisfies the requirements of contemporary medicine and those of medical practitioners. As a science, its focus is rather on the illness itself than on the patient and their needs and preferences. As an art, it prioritises the patients and their individual needs but risks undermining the knowledge and experience of the medical professional. The most beneficial option is a symbiosis between science and art. A dialogue between them would increase the amount of trust in the medical profession as a combination of scientific knowledge and technical skills.

Epistemology in the context of social construction of reality

Author(s): Angel Tsvetkov / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

Contemporary cognition theory claims to be a separate branch, separate from philosophy. Would that mean that the other major pillar ontology would also become independent? What will be left of the philosophical body in that case? This, however, will not be a topic to be dealt with here, but only with this side of epistemology that is relevant to anthropology and the social sciences. The context of anthropology will give another status of knowledge theory to the human world, which is socially constructed. The problem of reality and truth will be related to what people believe and adhere to.

A Concept for Inclusive Physical Education Training Program for Future Pre-School and Primary-School Teachers

Author(s): Galena Terzieva / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2019

The adoption of new normative documents in the field of education in Bulgaria determines the inclusion of children with special educational needs in general education schools. The significant and integral role which physical education plays in the educational process poses the question of the inclusion of children with impairments in motor activity training as well. Teachers implementing it contribute greatly to its positive effects. The main features of physical education include active motor activity and the related physical workload. In order for them to be adapted successfully to the specific needs of children with different disabilities, more specialized training is required. The analysis of the curricula of the faculties of education in Bulgaria shows that future pre-school and primary school teachers who will be responsible for the physical education of children in kindergartens and primary schools respectively do not receive appropriate training in adaptive physical education. The aim of this article is to present a concept for introducing a training programme on “Motor Activity Training and Inclusive Physical Education”, intended for students of the specialty Preschool and Primary School Education at the Faculty of Education, Trakia University, Bulgaria.

The author establishes that this doctrinal complex is consistently designated in their heritage as “pravajavera” (right faith). The concept of “right faith” is shown in the article as a cognitive structure, which is expressed in different semiotic means – lexical, textual and in the symbols of the Glagolitic alphabet. This correlation is shown as an important semiotic argument of inextricable link between the Christianization of the Slavs and the emergence of Slavic book-writing. Le dialogue pédagogique en tant qu’outil de la médiation cognitive en classe de langue. Cas des élèves en difficulté d’apprentissage

Author(s): Jolanta Sujecka-Zając / Language(s): French Issue: 4/2016

We would like to propose in this article an innovative approach to dialogue in a language class going beyond its usual function of only being a means to develop the communicative competence in a foreign language. From our point of view, the dialogue of an educational and formative type allows to give better tools of thinking to the learner and to remedy to his deficits in his learning ability, this through exchange around ways of learning and his mental processes. In the theoretical framework thus defined are concepts that have proven themselves in different educational contexts: the pedagogical dialogue of Antoine de La Garanderie, the explication interview of Pierre Vermersch and the cognitive interview aiming at Learning of Michael Perraudeau and Maria Pagoni. On the basis of these analyses, we conducted our research that aims to demonstrate the value of dialogue in a language class, especially for students with learning difficulties. In the article we present the main lines of this reflection and examples of dialogues with Polish students in a school in Warsaw.

Съотнасяне изпълненията на задачите за когнитивно развитие на Жан Пиаже с показателя за умствена възраст Бине-Търман при ученици със специални образователни потребности

Author(s): Milen Zamfirov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2019

The paper presents a correlation model based upon Piaget’s phenomena and Binet-Terman’s intelligence test. There are approaches pointed out in the paper, which can determine an individual’s mental age via conducting J. Piaget’s experiments as well as vice versa – via determining Piaget’s stage the IQ can be specified. The suggested Model would allow the mainstream teacher as well as the team of experts assisting personality development in the school, to easily orientate in the abilities a student with special educational needs has and to design his/her individual programs so that they would correspond to his/her development.

Фокус групата като метод при оценяване на приложението на Закона за защита от домашно насилие

Author(s): Georgi Dimitrov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2019

Focus groups are appropriate method for studying the practices of preventing domestic violence at a regional level. The method provides a reflexive space for identification of collective insights in the course of group interactions and preservation and registration of the implicit individual preferences of participants in the group discussion. Focus groups are organized in order to study the relationships of the target groups with the institutions in Razgrad district and the extent of their involvement in the process of prevention of domestic violence. Sharing of own experiences and ideas and the interactive comparison of the viewpoints of the participants that arise during group interactions in thematic focus groups, provide a more complete picture of the phenomena studied. The dynamics of symbolic interactions and the social exchange of information in the group process of the focus group reveals additional, subdivided views on the content and validity of the empirical data collected by this method. The focus groups do not apply the survey-specific pressures for a structured response to the moderator’s questions, which allows a higher level of authentic sharing and understanding of the experiences, attitudes, practices and relationships presented.
