This newly shaped group requires from marketers firstly, to notice this segment and secondly, adapt marketing actions to the needs of this market segment especially in product policy, marketing communication, branding and marketing system.

Masochizmy

Masochizmy

Author(s): Stanisław Rosiek / Language(s): Polish Issue: 7/2016

The editorial opens with a firm statement that a single masochism does not exist, which can be proved by theories and works of such psychiatrists and philosophers as Freud, Reik, Lacan or Deleuze. It also presents how the masochism of Bruno Schulz has so far been discussed and interpreted by distinguished Schulzologists and underlines that a new reading of his works as well as testimonies made by the “hidden witnesses” of writer’s life is needed.

Kategoria groteski w opisach muzyki z obozów koncentracyjnych. „Gry oświęcimskie” Szymona Laksa

Kategoria groteski w opisach muzyki z obozów koncentracyjnych. „Gry oświęcimskie” Szymona Laksa

Author(s): Bartosz Dąbrowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2016

The article presents the grotesque as an autobiographical strategy of talking about the experience of concentration camps. In his autobiographical testimony, Szymon Laks describes the music in Birkenau as the part of the Nazi system of exploitation of prisoners. In his memories, music in the concentration camp is deprived of humanistic values, and becomes a symbol of the violence, hierarchy and absurdity of the camp life. For Laks, the grotesque and self‑parody become the only means of speaking about the experience of the concentration camp. Laks chooses the literary tactics of inhuman accustoming, similar to the works of such writers as Tadeusz Borowski and Piotr Rawicz.

Program pomocy BRIGE dla młodzieży z opieki zastępczej

Author(s): Małgorzata Gocman,Małgorzata Szarzyńska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 6/2016

Persons brought up outside their own family, in foster care, are particularly vulnerable to experiencing life difficulties and the risk of social exclusion. Research on youth leaving foster care conducted in Europe and the United States shows that they experience many problems in different areas of functioning. These problems include: mental disorder symptoms, antisocial behavior, risky sexual behavior, psychoactive substance abuse and victimization. Due to the difficult situation of youth from foster care, a team of researchers from the Opole University adjusted to Polish conditions American program for young people leaving foster care. The program is called Bridging Resilience through Intervention, Guidance, and Empowerment (BRIGE). The purpose of the article is to present the BRIGE program and to evaluate it in terms of mental health. The study involved 12 young people preparing to leave orphanages in the province of Opole and the Lower Silesia. The program was controlled using the survey “Aging out” specially designed for this purpose. Each participant was evaluated 4 times: at the beginning of the program (measurement I), after 6 months (measurement II), after 12 months (measurement III) and after 18 months (measurement IV). In the present study we were limited to analysis of the results of three measurements, because not all subjects completed their participation in the program. The results showed that adolescents participating in the BRIGE program decreased symptoms of mental disorders, such as depression and a sense of hostility. The results are discussed in relation to existing programs for youth from foster care.

Proces parentyfikacji w kontekście teorii systemowej

Proces parentyfikacji w kontekście teorii systemowej

Author(s): Teresa Rostkowska,Judyta Borchet / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2016

This review article draws attention to the characteristics and conditions of family roles, the characteristics of the dysfunctional process of reversing roles between family members (parentification), the classifications of parentification as well as positive and negative consequences of experiencing the role reversal between parents and a child. In polish psychological and pedagogical literature there is lack of research on parentification. Exploring this phenomenon is very significant not only because of the fact that parentified children are overwhelmed with responsibilities, but also because of the roles and developmental tasks that are adequate to child’s age (i.e., school education, socialization, establishing relationships with peers, building friendships) that cannot be performed due to being overcharged with the duties imposed by the parents. Therefore, having thorough knowledge of parentification and the ability to distinguish it from the similar phenomena enables teachers, educators, psychologists, therapists and social workers matching more accurate interventions to the needs of the child and its family.

Thus, from all generation cohorts we have recognised until these days, a certain type of cross-section generation is being formed. Members of this generation are characterised by identical psychographic behaviour – they are constantly online. The Internet and digital technologies are part and parcel of their everyday life. They both receive and forward information instantly. As far as marketing is concerned, this up-cominggroup of consumers presents a highly attractive and easily targeted segment. Due to the fact that the online space offers enormous amount of information, marketing is facing an important challenge, which is to find the most effective way of targeting and addressing the segment within the environment bursting with information.

Evaluating Political Society in Rerum Novarum in the Context of Francisco Suárez’s Social Doctrine and Its Development in Gaudium et Spes

Evaluating Political Society in Rerum Novarum in the Context of Francisco Suárez’s Social Doctrine and Its Development in Gaudium et Spes

Author(s): Jan Koblížek / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2016

Drawing on an analysis of two well-known documents of the social teachings of the Church (Rerum Novarum and Gaudium et Spes), this paper aims to demonstrate a noticeable conceptual development of the notion of politics and political authority which occurred between the end of the nineteenth century and the Second Vatican Council. The criterion used in the analysis was Francisco Suárez’s political writing of the Enlightenment period. It is argued that politics was defined not only in relation to natural familial community and to the separation of ecclesiastical and secular authority, but also in relation to the return to traditional Aristotelian and Thomistic notions.

Gombrowicz od tyłu. Projekt krytyki analnej na przykładzie powieści Ferdydurke

Gombrowicz od tyłu. Projekt krytyki analnej na przykładzie powieści Ferdydurke

Author(s): Tomasz Kaliściak / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1+2 (8)/2016

The article proposes an “anal” reading of Witold Gombrowicz’s Ferdydurke from the perspective of the so‑called “anal turn” in the research on masculinities within the field of queer theories. The author presents an overview of theoretical perspectives, in which anality has been recognized as a suppressed component of male identity (e.g. Freud, Bataille, Kristeva, Deleuze and Guattari, Hocquenghem, Laporte). Masculinity seen from this angle is based on a radical shift of the foundation from a phallogocentric position to a more dispersed, non‑centralist, and thus more difficult to grasp, “anal” approach. In Gombrowicz’s work this change is best illustrated in the reflections on the subject of privacy. The subjectivity of the main character of Ferdydurke organises himself not around phallus but anus, and this new, radically shifted and dispersed subjectivity is called by Gombrowicz the private (or “upupiona”, “pampered”) masculinity, which reactivates the suppressed anality. The author analyses Ferdydurke also in the context of a peculiarly understood theory of “anal work,” in the light of which a literary work appears as an excrement and writing as excretion.

Ekonomia ciała. Powieści Marty Syrwid

Ekonomia ciała. Powieści Marty Syrwid

Author(s): Michał Sowiński / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1+2 (8)/2016

The paper “The Economics of Body: On Marta Syrwid’s Novels” aims, on the one hand, to sketch a portrait of the writer and place her within the space of the Polish literary field; on the other hand, it makes an attempt to interpret her first novel Zaplecze. The author of the text seek to break off with the dominant feminist existential perspective, in which Syrwid has been often inscribed by the critics. Instead, he proposes to view her writing as a continuation of the modern thinking (references are made to e.g. Kafka) about the subject in economic categories, that is as an impossible project of the complete breaking from and becoming independent of the outside reality.

Szkoła otwarta (?) na dialog kultur

Szkoła otwarta (?) na dialog kultur

Author(s): Sylwia Kuraś / Language(s): Polish Issue: 25/2016

The author addresses an important subject matter of raising the young generation ina spirit of tolerance, respect for the other person’s right to being other. She indicates how a Polish langugage class can teach dialogue and open young people to other cultures, and prepare them to live an active and effective life in multicultural reality. In her view, Polish‑Jewish relations, reflected in literary works of Polish, Polish‑Jewish and Jewish writers, can provide a valuable teaching material. She notices that Polish literature is not a source of exclusively negative stereotypes. On the contrary, Jewish people are portrayed in a warm, sympathetic and oftentimes friendly manner. Yet, as the author emphasizes, the Polish literary tradition will not help familiarize the Jewish culture. Therefore, she suggests including in Polish language and literature classes texts of such authors as for instance Isaac Bashevis Singer and proposes specific didactic solutions (working on Singer’s texts by flipped clasroom method).

Из „Психоанализа на вълшебните приказки“

Author(s): Bruno Bettelheim / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 17/2016

Bettelheim writes about the emotional and symbolic importance of fairy tales for children, such as those collected and published by the Grimm Brothers. Bettelheim thought that by engaging with these socially evolved stories, children would go through emotional growth and this would better prepare them for their own future life. The text „The Child’s Need for Magic“, part of the first section „A Pocketful of Magic“, outlines Bettelheim's thoughts on the value of fairy tales for children. The author demonstrates a correspondence between the fairy-tale world and the experience and thinking of children. The second part, „In Fairy Land“ presents psychoanalytical readings of several popular fairy tales. In „Hansel and Gretel“ and „The Sleeping Beauty“ Bettelheim suggested that traditional fairy tales, with the darkness of abandonment, death, witches, and injuries, allowed children to grapple with their fears in remote, symbolic terms. If they could read and interpret these fairy tales in their own way, he believed, they would get a greater sense of meaning and purpose.
