The author pinpoints the relations between geopolitics and globalisation from the angle of the post-Cold War politically turbulent order. Against this background of a clash between two opposing tendencies – revisionism and defence of the status quo – the author determines the dynamics of the deconcentration of forces in the international system, which is increasingly polycentric and less and less monocentric. He devotes much attention to the identity crisis of the West (from the crisis of US leadership to the depreciation of NATO). He characterizes Russia, with its aspirations to rebuild its superpower status and its imperial mission, as the main geopolitical opponent of the West. Pointing to the contemporary discourse on Russia and the risk of escalating a new confrontation reminiscent of the Cold War era, he critically assesses the consequences of Poland's international policy.

The book describes the local community of the descendants of the Poles who, in 1936, were forced to relocate from the Ukrainian SSR to Northern Kazakhstan. After the fall of the USSR, when the Polish political elites did not take effective steps, the so-called Polish spiecpieresieleńcy made various attempts to repatriate not only within the Polish, but also Russian and German repatriation systems. The multimillion scale and the wide geographical range of the process itself give the author grounds for claiming that the sociology of returns to the own group against the background of other migration directions was clearly distinct.

Relations between the Russian Federation (RF) and Ukraine are determined primarily by the interstate armed conflict in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Attempts by Russia to illegally annex the territory of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol in 2014 and their occupation, the armed confrontation in the Donbass determine the long-term nature of the interstate confrontation. // This conflict is asymmetric. For Ukraine, the consequences of the confrontation with Russia are vital, and the course of the conflict affects almost all important social processes. Instead, the Russian leadership views Ukraine primarily as a field of competition with the West in order to "declare the position of the Russian Federation as one of the influential centers of the modern world." // The post-Soviet space is a priority of Russia's foreign policy, simultaneously more importance is attached to cooperation with the states participating in Russia's integration projects. // The Strategy of Economic Security of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030, adopted in 2017, identifies the creation of conditions for the implementation of strategic national priorities of the Russian Federation 3 as a priority for the development of the Russian economy. Thus, the subordination of the economy to the implementation of primarily strategic goals set by the political leadership is stated.

In a collective monograph prepared by specialists of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, for the first time in domestic and world science, the phenomenon of global hybrid warfare in the perspective of Russian aggression against the country has been studied in detail. The essence of hybrid warfare is considered in the context of the systemic crisis of world security, and its phenomenon - as the latest form of global confrontation. The reasons and preconditions of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, its strategic goals, as well as the peculiarities of hybrid warfare in various dimensions: military, political, economic, social, humanitarian, informational are considered in detail. The local successes of our state in counteracting the hostile plans of the Russian Federation in certain directions are analyzed. The essence of financial security and its place in the system of economic security of the state are considered. The theoretical basis of the content of financial security is analyzed and external and internal threats to the national security of Ukraine in the financial sphere are identified. The author's methodology for assessing the state of financial security of the state and the public finance sector of Ukraine is proposed. The system of indicators of financial security and the public finance sector of Ukraine is determined, formalized calculations are developed, the information base is developed and their threshold values are substantiated. The issues of financial security of transformation processes in the national economy, challenges and threats to the stability of the financial system, as well as security aspects of fiscal policy, in particular its features in the context of existing external and internal risks. The financial mechanisms of domestic market protection and financial aspects of de-shadowing of the economy are highlighted. The analytical procedure for monitoring the effectiveness of public policy, based on indicators of the state of national security, is studied, and its main functions are outlined. The modern globalized world is characterized by increasing turbulence in financial markets, which poses special challenges to ensure the stability of national economies. The megatrend of financialization, which is characterized by increasing the share of financial transactions and the dominance of the financial sector of the economy over the real one, reflects radical changes in the structure of the modern world economy. Fluctuations in financial markets significantly affect the rate of global growth, and global financial flows determine structural changes in national economies. // Currently, Ukraine is facing exacerbation of external risks associated with the sharp increase in global economic volatility, which was observed in the first half of 2020 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which, according to many experts, makes high-scale growth of full-scale global economic crises. Responding to the challenges of the pandemic has led to a number of radical measures at the national level, which have a shocking impact on the national economy. The process of transforming the Alliance's role and status in the new context of regional and global security was launched by NATO's Rome Summit in 1991. The abolition of the Warsaw Pact and the collapse of the Soviet Union marked the end of the Cold War in global scale. The 1991 Strategic Concept of the Alliance focuses on changing the geopolitical balance and expanding the Euro-Atlantic security space (given the transformations that have taken place in Central Europe). A decision was reached to strengthen NATO's political role and the functioning of the Alliance based on the principles of collective defense, dialogue and cooperation (in particular, to promote reforms in the former socialist camp and launch new formats of interaction with other players in Central and Eastern Europe). // Among such formats, the Partnership for Peace initiative, which was decided at the NATO summit in Brussels in 1994, played a special role. During the NATO Summit in Madrid in 1997, the Charter on a Distinctive Partnership between Ukraine and the Alliance was signed, which regulates the format of cooperation between the parties at the political level. The summit announced NATO's first eastward enlargement to include Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, as well as the launch of a policy of Alliance enlargement to include the former Warsaw Pact and the former Soviet Union.

After the Second World War in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which came under the influence of the USSR, the creation of special services was on the Soviet model (with some national features) and with the help of advisers from Moscow. In different years, the security agencies of these countries had NKVD-MGB-KGB offices of the USSR, which later also performed the function of coordinating the activities of special services in the Warsaw Pact countries (hereinafter - ATS). // The processes that took place in the Soviet Union in the late 1980s directly affected the states of the so-called socialist commonwealth. By 1991, anti-communist opposition had come to power in virtually all of these states, and the new governments set out to form a multiparty system and a democratic society, accompanied by the transformation of the special services.

The issue of ethno-political polarity and socio-cultural demarcation has become topical in Ukraine, as Ukrainian national consciousness is still weak, and for certain segment of society national independence of Ukraine is not of high priority. The monograph provides a complex analysis of identification practices, ethnic borders idiosyncrasy, dialectics of regional and ethnic identity, ethno-political polarity. The author’s vision of such points as the mythologized and politicized issue of “two Ukraine”, “involvement crisis” and values and ideological polarization of Ukraine is revealed. Special attention is paid to the examination of ethno-political markers in the system of inter-ethnic interaction, including the historical memory, religion factor, the influence of migration.
