Художествената галерия и децата – творческо общуване

Author(s): Zdravko Toshev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2017

The perception of the works of art displayed in art galleries is very important for the development of children’s artistic talents. Field trips leave deep and lasting impressions in the memory of most of them and are remembered for a long time. This intensifies their watchfulness, boosts their thinking and imagination, improves their memory and develops their artistic imagination. The ability to perceive artwork is built gradually, carefully, patiently, with the help of adults. Children could stay indifferent to works of art for a long time, if a teacher or parent does not focus their attention on them. They are supposed to take children to museums and galleries, make them familiar with the variety of artwork by attending exhibitions in art galleries, get children feel love, lasting interest and need of contact with artwork.

WHAT ARE STUDIA DIGITALIA?

WHAT ARE STUDIA DIGITALIA?

Author(s): Willard McCarty / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2017

More than half a century ago an American professor of English literature, Joseph Raben, founded Computers and the Humanities, the first journal in the field. In the first article of its first issue Louis Milic wrote with uncommon clarity of vision that,The true nature of the machine is unknown to us, but it is neither a human brain nor a mechanical clerk. The computer has a logic of its own, one which the scholar must master if he is to benefit from his relations with it. Its intelligence and ours must be made complementary, not antagonistic or subservient to each other…. The computer can be made an extension of man only if it opens avenues we have not suspected the existence of. (1966: 4)

DIGITAL DOCUMENTARY EDITING OF ST PATRICK’S EPISTLES. LINKING THE MANUSCRIPT WITNESSES TO THE CANONICAL TEXT

Author(s): Roman Bleier / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2017

St Patrick of Ireland, the fifth-century missionary and bishop, wrote two epistles which are commonly referred to as Confessio and Epistola ad milites Corotici. These two texts survive in seven medieval manuscript witnesses which were copied centuries after Patrick’s time. This article discusses digital transcriptions of these manuscript witnesses. The transcriptions were encoded using the encoding standard of the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) following a documentary editing approach. The transcriptions will be the core of a new digital documentary edition. This edition is meant to be a research tool for the exploration of the medieval documents, but at the same time it is a mediator between the manuscript witnesses and existing text-critical editions and translations of the texts. This mediator function is achieved by including markers of lines and chapter of a canonical edition and links to an existing text-critical edition online. In the final section a few examples will briefly be look at that illustrate what kind of analysis will be possible and what visual presentations of the transcriptions will be incorporated in the new edition.

STRETCHING THE BOUNDARIES OF PUBLISHING: THE OPEN WEB PLATFORM AND THE ALTERNATIVES

Author(s): Nicolaie Constantinescu / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2017

Today’s scientific practice makes data the first territory for analysis and publishing becomes the rich context for cross referencing and interpretation. Scholarly publishing practices, editing and publishing in general have been shaped by the printing press and later on fashioned by the launch of the scientific journals starting in 1665 with the Philosophical Transactions by the Royal Society. Trends are mounting towards a self-publishing model, let that be under a known editorial label or in a self-sustained environment under university’s press umbrella or by the help of online free existing tools and services. All of the practices lend themselves to one purpose: being indexed, being parsed, mined for data, and emerging as valuable contributions to the field and become relevant. This paper explores some the new tool chains the Open Web Platform offers and some alternatives to be considered in the daily editing workflows. The envelope of the existing technologies is pushed further to step into the future world of deep learning and artificial intelligence. An exploratory tab will be set on the possibilities self-publishing is presenting the researchers in terms of tools and publishing platforms other than the regular channels.

The aim of the present study is to create the profile of persons who have become aware of their need to have a specific tool to move intelligently in an urban space. The research is conducted within the frame of smart cities literature and approaches cities from the perspective of the presence of Information and Communication Technologies in all areas of social, economic and political life. In this context, smart people are considered to be persons who use the advantages of technology to obtain information-knowledge and are capable to identify the need of a smart tool to assist them in various domains. A concept map is created that is interpreted as a tool to measure the physical and virtual presence of senior undergraduate students in Economic Informatics in places significant for academic information and knowledge transfer. The authors try to demonstrate the importance of combining data mining and social network analysis methods so as to carry out a complex analysis of the problem and validate by their findings important research by Fortunato, Girvan, Papadopoulos, Adedoyin-Olowe et al.

BRINGING BOSCH ALIVE THROUGH MULTIMEDIA

BRINGING BOSCH ALIVE THROUGH MULTIMEDIA

Author(s): Voica Puşcaşiu / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2017

When one talks about “digital art” there are a great number of very different manifestations that could potentially fall into this category. One of the first things to keep in mind is the fact that as a term “digital art” does not refer to any particular style or aesthetic, thus the great variety. Much rather it is a medium through which artists choose to present their ideas. However as with all things digital, this can take on a lot of different facets, the digital turn has provided not only the opportunity for art archival and dissemination, but also as an extensive creative tool whose only limit lies in the imagination and/or technical skill of the author. To put it simply, digital art can range from works created entirely with the use of a computer and software, to alteration done with the help of the digital medium. It can include appropriation of other classical works that receive new life and meaning through this approach.

Author(s): Iryna Maslova-Lysychkina / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 1/2014

Borysenko, M. Havryluk, M. Zakovych, S. Zubkov, O. Kurochkin, P. Sokolov, I. Sukhanov). Holiday as a social phenomenon studied Y. Belousov, D. Genkin, K. Zhyhulskyy, A. Mazaev, E. Kaverina, A. Some aspects of mass celebrations setting in Eastern Ukraine in the 60's and 80's of the XX century studied O. Penkova. At the beginning the article proved that mass celebrations played an important role in Soviet culture. Besides the entertainment function they had ideological significance. Soviet ideologists V. Lenin, N. Krupska, A. Lunacharsky and others emphasized the importance of consolidation official and national celebrations as a part of cultural state development and ideological activities. Since the early 60's of the XX century began a new stage in the development of mass celebrations, which were caused by profound political changes in the Soviet Union after the 20th Congress of the Communist Party. According to the O. Penkova’s research in this period, "the state returns to human beings at the first time". However, mass celebrations in the USSR kept its state and political character. The state established official holidays and was trying to turn them into public tradition. According to the Decree of the USSR Supreme Soviet "About the holidays and memorable dates" from the 1st of October 1980 to the category of nationwide celebrations were included the anniversary of the October Revolution – on 7–8 November, V. Lenin's Birthday – on 22 April, International Day of Worker's Solidarity (Labour Day) – on 1–2 May, Victory Day of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 – on 9 May, USSR Constitution Day – on 7 October, National Day of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics – on 30 December, Day of the Soviet Army and Navy – on 23 February, International Women's Day – on 8 March. Then the article passes to the statement that the state established official holidays and was trying to turn them into public tradition. The special feature of these key holidays was a clear organization that carried out by apparatus structures of the Communist Party. Commissions were engaged in preparation for the holiday, which were created in all steps of the party vertical. The trade unions, The Young Communist League (komsomol), the administrations of enterprises and institutions also carried out decisions of the party apparatus. The basic forms of the mass celebrations were meetings and demonstrations during the 60-80's of the XX century in Kyiv. Together with parades of various kinds (military, sports, etc.) they were the main forms of expression festive aesthetics of the Soviet era. Involvement to the celebration of state holidays began with early childhood. The main form of mass state holidays in Kyiv were demonstrations of workers that took place on the 7th of November and the 1st of May. The celebration of the 1500th anniversary of Kyiv in 1982 became a significant mass celebration in Kyiv in the Soviet period as well.In the conclusions is revealed that setting of mass celebrations is closely associated with ideological content of the Soviet period (the 60-70's of the XX century). In Kyiv such mass celebrations as Victory Day, May Day, Day of the October Revolution and others necessarily were held in the form of meetings and demonstrations. At the time of the events constantly were used state symbols, portraits of leaders and senior communist party leaders, Heroes of the Great Patriotic War and the Socialist Labor. Banners with slogans, posters, music of patriotic character, elements of theatrical performances involving athletics and choreographic groups were also widely used.

Resurse educaţionale în programe de învăţământ la distanţă din domeniul muzical

Author(s): Nedelcut Nelida,Ghisa Lucian / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 1/2016

The educational resources in distance learning programs are a key element in the effectiveness of this type of teaching. Printed materials along with those created in the electronic environment facilitate learning in an individualized way, requiring the assistance and coordination of the course tutors. The new ways of presenting the content make learning flexible and attractive, more adapted to the needs of adults, in the sense of being possible without the constraints of time, space, and pace of life. The production of resources in the education system requires the prior training of the authors and passing through distinct phases in their configuration: their structuring into a specific shape, generating texts and illustrations, the design of materials, preparation and printing, the design of applied materials. The Distance Learning Department organizes those educational resources at the Gh. Dima Music Academy, based on an adequate infrastructure and on highly skilled human resources. This study analyzes the way in which didactic materials are made, the level of accessibility of the courses being related to the statistics conducted through questionnaires, which were created with corrective purpose and for the continuous improvement of the educational contents.

A Soros Alapítvány képzőművészeti támogatásai Magyarországon: A nyolcvanas évek második felének tendenciái

Author(s): Kristóf Nagy / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 21/2014

The following paper examines the influence of the Soros Foundation over the internal and external relations of the Hungarian art field form 1984 to 1989. More specifically, it investigates the forms and directions of fine art subsidization and their political and ideological contexts. The activities performed by the Soros Foundation in the second half of the 1980s can be seen as part of a regime change within the artistic scene. In their struggle for cultural hegemony various actors related to the Foundation were able to strengthen their counter-hegemonic artistic practices. Opposing the late socialist artistic hegemony of the Kádár regime, this also was the period when „contemporary” art appeared in Hungary for the first time. As a result, Hungarian art had been put into context with the Western art world: new dependencies were formed, within which Hungarian and Eastern European art found itself in a peripheral position. An important consequence of this was that Eastern European artists became forced to continually demonstrate their Europeanness both internally and externally.

Роль импортных материалов в создании костюмных комплексов городского населения Молдавского княжества XV—XVII вв.

Author(s): Natalia M. Kalashnikova / Language(s): Russian Issue: 6/2017

The article analyzes written, graphic and material sources about extensive and active trade relations of the Principality of Moldavia that played an important role in formation of costumes worn by various estates in Moldavian cities in 15th—17th century. As the so-called “Tartar route”, one of the most actively used trade routes of 13th—14th century: from German cities to Lviv and Kamianets-Podilskyi and farther to Tighina (Bender) and Black Sea ports of Billhorod-Dnistrovsky and Caffa (Feodosia) constantly became more and more dangerous, merchants gradually ceased to use it and, in late 14th — early 15th centuries, adapted new “Moldavian route” from Krakov and Lviv to Suceava, Galats, Bilhorod and Caffa. Thus, it were Krakov and Lviv that secured Moldavian trade with Poland, Germany, Flanders, and Italy. Due to this route and arrival of oriental and, later, western imported materials (textiles, jewelery, etc.) in 16th—17th centuries, the costumes of Moldavian nobility were formed. First, Byzantine (as earlier in time) elements prevailed in these costumes, later to be replaced by West European fashion trends. The former reached Moldavia through neighboring Balkan countries, and the latter through Hungary and Poland.
