Exhibition review - The Invisible Burden. An Artistic Dialogue on Transgenerational Trauma (The Contemporary Art Gallery Subotica, June 8 – July 20, 2024)

Exhibition review - The Invisible Burden. An Artistic Dialogue on Transgenerational Trauma (The Contemporary Art Gallery Subotica, June 8 – July 20, 2024)

Author(s): Nela Tonković / Language(s): English Issue: 34/2024

Transgenerational trauma is not a new phenomenon. The recognition, perception, and understanding of this phenomenon, however, date back to the relatively recent past: the late 1960s in Canada. During that period of time, there was a noticeable increase in requests for psychological assistance from relatively young individuals whose parents had survived the Holocaust. Although these individuals did not directly experience the trauma themselves, its effects were evident in their lives, becoming internalized and passed on to the next generation. Since then, psychology and related fields have been exploring patterns in the transmission of transgenerational trauma, viewing it as the formation of inner reality and its expression across multiple generations, stemming from the original trauma experienced by an ancestor or close relative. Trapped in the cycle of transgenerational trauma, entire social groups continuously reenact the past, which hinders the present from being a secure space. Burdened by inherited trauma, individuals are deprived of the opportunity to develop their authentic voices and provide their perspectives on various aspects of the world and the society they are part of.

Пресъздаване на събития от българската история с цел – политическа пропаганда, при скулптурите от камък в мемориален комплекс – „Трите поколения”

Author(s): Sarkis Nersesyan / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 11/2023

The purpose of this paper is to present the political propaganda in the sculptural reliefs in the "Three Generations" memorial complex, created in the 1970s. The analysis found that the monumental stone relief was charged with a complex set of tasks, influenced by the political features of the era. The April plenum of the Bulgarian Communist Party from 1956 imposed specific political requirements for the further development of creative activity. A system of work rules is imposed in the execution of public sculptural works. This was a justified historical reason and a suitable political situation, for the confirmation of the established canon, in the performance of monumental orders. A specific emblematic object such as the "Three Generations" monument illustrates the SPRING SCIENTIFIC READINGS 365 20 nature of the mechanical mixing of revolutionary clashes of different ideas.

Murals are the art of wall painting which we can understand as mutual communication, communication with space and conveying messages to society. This study explores the beginnings of the mural, the different types of murals, and the value and significance of the mural in the development of this art form. The mural dates back to the time of the Paleolithic as a representative art, which continues to develop in Egypt, Rome, India, it is representative of the classical period in Europe, when it becomes typical for cathedrals, mosques, until the modern era when it is popularized in the urban space and becomes part of public famous buildings in many cities around the world. In that context, the hypothesis is developed that the understanding and recognition of the mural images of the past is of great importance and are an example and inspiration for the local arts to develop their idea and to perfect and develop the mural. From here, the mural grows into a different concept for creating a new visual image with a high aesthetic value.

STRANCI SVUDA NA 60. BIJENALU UMETNOSTI U VENECIJI

Author(s): LJiljana Maletin Vojvodić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 547/2024

Iako ovoga puta to nije slučaj, 60.

Kněz, muzikolog, sbormistr a pedagog Dobroslav Orel (1870–1942) a jím využívané intonační metody při sbormistrovské práci

Author(s): Kateřina Andršová / Language(s): Czech Issue: 4/2024

It focuses on the least studied part of his activity, choirmastering. Through the prism of contemporary pedagogical journals and school documentation, he attempts to reconstruct the choirmaster's methods used by him and, in particular, traces the dynamics of the development of his relationship with Battke's intonation method, from his initial enthusiasm to his awareness of the pitfalls of uncritical acceptance of this method to his warning against the danger of elevating the means of achieving correct intonation to the goal of singing education.

Duševné zdravie a výchovný potenciál výtvarného umenia v pregraduálnej príprave študentov

Author(s): Tatiana Bilančíková / Language(s): Slovak Issue: 4/2024

In the current concepts of pre-primary and primary education of the 21st century, it is possible to observe a turn of attention to a holistic approach in the educational goals of art education. Based on the concept of psychodidactics, the emphasis is on mental health, which is supported by educational forms such as spontaneous creation, or the development of synesthesia and fantasy. The holistic educational approach is also supported by the interdisciplinary nature of art education. In the paper, we will deal with how we develop these goals in the undergraduate training of teachers, simultaneously using the educational potential of art with an emphasis on spontaneity, gestural creation and spiritual content.

Proces tvorby výtvarného artefaktu v súčasnej výtvarnej edukácii na primárnom stupni

Author(s): Iveta Polák Čuchtová / Language(s): Slovak Issue: 4/2024

Current trends in art education increasingly highlight the importance of the process of creation itself and the disadvantages of too much emphasis on the final product of the pupil. It is questionable, however, to what extent these assumptions, which appear to be genuinely effective, are being translated into pedagogical practice. The aim of this paper will be to present the basic theoretical background and describe the different stages of the process of creating an artwork, but at the same time to present selected educational situations from pedagogical practice using the 3A methodology. Through these educational situations we want to highlight the current state of art education in selected schools and offer a tool for reflection on the quality of art education, which could become an inspiration for pedagogical practice and offer an adequate procedure for the use of procedural art education and compliance with the individual phases of the process of creation in art education at the primary level.

Creativity is a construct shaped by society, its history and values. There is a global consensus on the importance of creativity for society, the economy and the individual. Yet, cultural context plays a significant role in describing the characteristics of creativity. This paper introduces the findings of a study focused on congruencies and differences in creative self-concept among art students on the US-Czech Republic-Taiwan axis. The study contributes to the understanding of the different facets of creativity and their importance in shaping an individual's creative self-concept. It particularly inspires didactic disciplines in promoting creativity not only in expressive fields.

MIŠLJENJE DOGAĐAJA I ESTETIKA: NODRAMA I PREDMETNOST FOTOGRAFIJE

Author(s): Saša Ž. Radovanović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 3/2024

The text analyzes Heidegger’s attitude towards East Asian art. His thesis is developed that the language of aesthetics cannot explain the basic concepts of Japanese or East Asian art. Then a comparison is made between the film Rashomon and the nodrama. The difference between European and East Asian art is established. European art is symbolic and representational. It is based on the understanding of Being. East Asian art is non-symbolic and non-representative. Emptiness, non-beings play an essential role in its determination. Then, Heidegger’s position is shown that language as a hermeneutic relation to being is a medium of a possible encounter with East Asian art. At the end, the consequences of such an attitude are determined for Heidegger’s philosophy of art and the thinking the event.

„Лайтмотивът“ на празника в учебното съдържание по музика в сферата на общото образование

Author(s): Penka Marcheva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2024

The understanding of the leitmotif as a sound core with a characteristic content and structuring role for a specific piece of music is a metaphor that outlines the content parameters of this paper. “Metaphoricity” is embodied in the idea of festivity and celebration as a musical-semantic entity present in the music curriculum in Bulgarian schools. In the theoretical part of the paper, an analysis of the curricula is made in the light of the examined issues. Areas of competence, themes, as well as the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are tied to festivity and celebration as a semantic centre are presented. In the practical part of the publication some methodological features of music-pedagogical activity are examined in the light of the considered “leitmotif”.

The Holy Liturgy is the expression of religious celebration within the Church. With regard to it, this article provides concise notes on the liturgical order used by Western and Eastern Catholics – specifically, the Roman rite for Western Catholics and the Byzantine rite for Eastern Catholics. It also discusses the types of celebrations in the history of the Church as to outline, though briefly, the origins of the modern peculiarities of the music that accompanies the two rituals. The Bulgarian Catholics have a distinctive culture and partly, aspects of everyday life that set them apart from their Eastern Orthodox countrymen. What is more, each Catholic community has unique ethno-cultural characteristics that have been shaped by the community’s interactions with West European Catholicism as well as it creation and development within the borders of Bulgaria. At the end of this article, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of his birth, I have examined the theoretical and musical works of Petar Dinev, the great Bulgarian musicologist and theorist of Eastern Church music.
