ANTROPONIMIJA U NAJSTARIJOJ DUVANJSKOJ MATIČNOJ KNJIZI (1750. - 1758.)

The paper analyzes antropo-onomastic lexis from the corpus of names from the Parish register of the baptized from the Duvno parish. It was written in Croatian Cyrillics. It is a private register in which a priest, a Glagolitic script user, Father Anton Ljubosović, entered baptisms done by him in Duvno parish and wider. This was later rewritten into the official register. Since that official register was lost in a fire of the parish house in Seonica in 1821, the private register of Father Anton that has been kept up till today is of special value. That is the oldest register of the Duvno parish. At the same time it is the oldest register in the area of Mostar-Duvno diocese. The register encompasses 41 pages with 248 baptism entries. In the Register we have personal names and family names of the children that were baptized in the time span from 1750 til 1758. Names are a mirror of the history and language of a nation and a culture. That is why antroponyms that can be found in old parish registers are of extreme importance for the linguistic, but also for the historical and cultural research. After we have read the antroponyms, we noticed the influence of the orders of the Council of Trent about giving names of the saints because the saints' names are the dominant element of the personal names corpus as well as the family name corpus. The paper is divided into two parts. First we analyze personal names as the oldest layer of antroponymy, according to the manner of formation, form and frequency in the Register. The family name corpus is analyzed in the same way.

Austrougarska jezična politika na primjeru norme Bosansko-hercegovačkih novina u prvoj godini njihova izlaženja

The first part of the paper provides an overview of the linguistic norm of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Newspaper, the first official newspaper published during the Austro-Hungarian rule. Insight into the language structure proves that the newspaper used the norms of the Zagreb Philological School and Croatian terminology. The usage of the Zagreb Philological School norms reveals that Bosnian-Herzegovinian press did not always use the same type of language in the period between the Turkish and Austro-Hungarian rule. The second part of the paper is focused on the Austro-Hungarian language policy and language denomination. It is obvious that the Austro-Hungarian administration did not develop clear guidelines related to the implementation of language policy. It is interesting to note that the language used in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Newspaper was called Bosnian even though it conformed to the Zagreb Philological School norms. Other terms were also in use during the same period e.g. Croatian, Native, Native Bosnian etc.

Balkanlinguistik: Grundlagen und aktuelle Fragen

Balkan linguistics as a comparative discipline of Indo-European linguistics has to deal with languages spoken in the Balkan peninsula, as there are Bulgarian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Serbian as South Slavic languages, except Croate and Slovene, but also Albanian and Rumanian with its different representations in the Balkans. There are a lot of similarities and parallels between the grammatical forms and lexical elements in these languages, the socalled “Balkanisms”, a term described since the middle of the 19th century. Since this time Balkan linguistics has found and described not only a large number of Balkanisms, but developed also new directions and methods, as there are today the wider fields of “Südosteuropa- Linguistik” and “Eurolinguistik” including not only Balkan languages, but also Baltic and Scandinavian languages. Over the last years the so-called “field-work” has gained importance. This is a method aimed at finding new balkanisms but also aimed at describing their spreading out within the dialects of Balkan languages. Attempts have been made to realize the project of a “Balkan Sprachatlas” in Marburg, but nowadays there seems to be no possibility to continue this project.

The word inheritance has got multiple meanings, and in this paper it is about inheritance meaning inherited property, ie. Inherited land, and about the evidence of inheritance in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the middle ages to the beginning of the First world war. Recording of inheritance is important for the jurisprudence as the right to ownership of real estate, what would nowadays mean one of the civil rights, but the data is included in the list of inheritance as onomastic material which is also very important for the history of Bosnian language.

Language” was conducted at the International Primary School in Sarajevo, where we met children who often speak two and occasionally three languages. How they acquire and master the language in interesting, and in particular, how they acquire the beginning level reading and writing skills of the Bosnian language. This study attempted to determine whether bilingual students were more proficient or less proficient than monolingual students at developing reading and writing skills in the Bosnian language.

Błędy fleksyjne w tekstach pisanych przez słoweńskich studentów polonistyki w Lublanie

The aim of the article is to analyse the inflectional errors in texts written by Slovenian students of Polish Studies in Ljubljana. The collision of two grammatical systems (in this case: Polish and Slovenian) leads to numerous mistakes. As a result the inflectional errors appear in both spoken and written texts. The incorrect forms have been analysed in the article and the reason for their occurance described. Special attention was paid to mistakes that can result from the influence of the Slovenian language. The analysed material was gathered by the author of the article herself and it comes from the written works of the Polish language students from Ljubljana. The analyses aim to explain the reasons for the errors. This should result in reflection on the effective methods of teaching that could prevent the occurance of such errors.

Body Idioms in Russian and Serbian Languages

The purpose of the current paper is to display a comparative analysis of the body idioms belonging to two related languages, Russian and Serbian that metaphorically designate human physical and psychical features. A part of the Russian and Serbian idioms contain in their structure a word related to body that function as a symbol. The research of the phraseological material has revealed that phrasemes that have as a head-word a word related to body is one of the most numerous type of phraseological units in both the two Slavic languages.

Bosanski jezik u službenoj upotrebi u Srbiji: (Ostvarivanje prava Bošnjaka u Srbiji na upotrebu bosanskog jezika u sudu, policiji, tužilaštvu i obrazovnom sistemu)

This paper is the research that has the aim to determine and present the current state of Bosnian language usage in public institutions (in our case we deals with police, prosecutor’s office, court and education). After the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, the Law on the official use of languages and scripts in the Republic of Serbia, the Criminal Law of the Republic of Serbia and official voting in local assemblies and incorporating the municipal statutes in Sandžak municipalities (Prijepolje, Sjenica, Novi Pazar and Tutin) there was a problem of its implementation in public and the educational system of the Republic of Serbia. The paper will give a short section of implementation, problems and needs, on the basis of official documents and researches that have been reached. The paper is based on the Serbian Constitution, ratified international charters, the real situation and the problems that Bosniaks as a nation (in the case of Serbia they are defined as a national minority) have in achievement their constitutionally guaranteed human rights and freedoms.

Bosansko-humski krstjani u korespondenciji Dragutina Prohaske i Vatroslava Jagića (1909. - 1910.)

As a part of Prohaska’s letters to his mentor Vatroslav Jagić in Vienna in the mentioned period shows, this contribution follows the creation of Prohaska’s book from 1911 Das kroatisch-serbische Schrifttum in Bosnien und der Herzegovina and its third chapter on Bosnian Bogomils. Upon examination of the sequence and content of those letters, one can discern Prohaska’s plans and accomplishments in the sphere of Croatian and Slavic studies, as well as his teaching activities. Therefore, the readers (philologists) themselves will, by vizualizing his letters, be able to offer their opinion on his scientific-research opus which is quite substantial for his time since he, more than once, effectively established his reputation at different levels: as a literary historian, literary critic, comparativist of Slavic literature, theater critic and founder of the magazine Hrvatska njiva. Prohaska writes of all this in his other letters to Vatroslav Jagić.

BOŠNJACI I BOSANSKI JEZIČKI STANDARD

The paper attempts to provide a critical overview of the perception of the standard Bosnian language by Bosniaks. It briefly presents the Bosniak language policy over the last twenty years, reminding here that this policy does not have any institutional framework, but is rather a set of more or less separate activities of expert groups and individuals. Significant results were achieved in setting the norms of the Bosnian language; however, these were accompanied by some exaggerations and failures. The conclusion emphasises the need for a thorough change of the attitude of Bosniaks towards the standard Bosnian language.

BOŠNJAKOV STAV PREMA ORIJENTALNOJ JEZIČKOJ TRADICIJI

In one historical period the Bosniaks linked their literacy to oriental languages, especially Arabic, which they didn’t experience as something that was imposed upon them, but embraced it as the language of Islam and endeavoured to learn Arabic along with the native Bosnian language. Under conditions of strong oriental tradition, the Bosnian language gained special importance, for with it the Bosniaks were confirming their Slavic affiliation. In such a way, a ‘Bosniaks’ had assumed a particular attitude towards oriental tradition and within the framework of this tradition a special place was occupied by translation of religious books into Bosnian. In this way, the Bosniaks were creating a stronger bond with their ethnic-linguistic roots.

Voice is related to the verb so it is studied according to the relations between the subject-the verb or the object-the verb. Studying the subject-the verb, if the subject is active or the subject is linked directly to the verb this is called active voice (действителен залог), if the subject is passive or the subject is linked indirectly to the verb this is called passive voice (страдателен залог). Studying the object-the verb, if the verb is able to get an object it is called transitive (преходен); if not it is called intransitive (непреходен). The voice in Bulgarian consists of transitive and intransitive too. Passive voice consists of reflexive form (възвратна форма) or the form when auxiliary (спомагателен глагол) is used with past passive participle (минало страдателно причастие). With these two methods transitive verb is turned into intransitive. The passive voice in Bulgarian depends on past passive participle. Past tense (минало свършено време) steps in on this point. This depends on the verb which is transitive. Past tense depends on present tense (сегашно време) in the centre. Participles related to past passive participles in Bulgarian depend on the voice and the tense. The usage of past passive participle has two types: Dependent (несамостойна употреба) and independent types (самостойна употреба). In Bulgarian the structure of reflexive verb depends on the transitivity of the verb. In reflexive form the transitive verb turns into intransitive form. The reflexive form gives not only reflexive verb but also other structures. In our study the verbs in Bulgarian are to be examined active / passive, transitive / intransitive and reflexive.

Chronological Layers in Translated Texts: Observations on a Sticheron of Archangel Michael

This article discusses the presumable composition of the Service for the Heavenly Bodiless Angelic Powers, which was included in the Old Bulgarian Menaion under the date of 8 November and has no Greek parallel. Taking into account the fact that there are two known kanons of probable Old Bulgarian origin, the author searches in various manuscripts for the rest of the chants that, according to the liturgical rules, might have been part of the service.

CLITIC DOUBLING OF PERSONAL PRONOUNS WITH THE USE OF PREPOSITIONS IN THE DIALECTS OF THE PRIZREN-TIMOK AREA

An overview of the clitic doubling of personal pronouns with the use of prepositions in the speeches of the Prizren-Timok area, as well as the area covered by its use is given in this paper. So far, special attention has not been given to this occurrence in the literature and it has not been registered in certain dialects of the Prizren-Timok area. Firstly, a brief overview of the phenomenon of object reduplication is presented and, then, attention is given to pronominal reduplication. Through the analysis of the monographs on the topic of the dialects of the Prizren-Timok area and the most recent research on the Preševo dialect, the conclusion that the clitic doubling of personal pronouns is done with the use of prepositions, which is primarily connected to the dialects which have a more pronounced analytism, was arrived at.
