Homme(s), personne(s), gens and their Bulgarian equivalents : lexicographical data and linguistic analysis
The objective of this article is to compare the French human general nouns homme(s), personne(s), gens and their Bulgarian equivalents човек, лице, ду̀ши, хора. We explore data from monolingual and bilingual dictionaries that we analyze in the framework of referential semantics. We show that, despite their underspecified meaning, the lexemes in the two languages often have different semantic and grammatical properties, which explains the complex interrelations they contract.
