Wybrane aspekty wykonawcze i interpretacyjne w wiolinistyce jazzowej i klasycznej

Author(s): Marcin Hałat / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 3/2010

The article touches upon the nature of the idea lying behind the artists — violinists expressing their emotions through music in such diversified stylistics as jazz and classic music, infrequently skillfully balancing between them. Finding the nature of interpretation, technical perfection or inspiration motivating for creation and constant development, we notice that music becomes a universal being, being able to exist beyond divisions.

Forgotten solo hymns by Jan Sztwiertnia

Forgotten solo hymns by Jan Sztwiertnia

Zapomniane pieśni solowe Jana Sztwiertni

Author(s): Hubert Miśka / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 3/2010

Jan Sztwiertnia — a teacher, organist and composer, student of Konserwatorium Muzyczne in Katowice. After a composer concert in May 1939 he gained a grant for further music studies in Paris. The war crossed out these plans. Arrested and prisoned in a concentration camp in Gusen he died in August 1940, aged only 29. Despite a short career, he left many compositions. Among them a special attention should be paid to a folk opera "Sałasznica", a symphonic poem "Śpiący rycerze w Czantorii", "Stylizowane tańce śląskie", "Suita beskidzka", numerous chamber and vocal works. Among the works for voice with piano the ones known and performed are a series of three hymns written to the lyrics by L. Staff or a collection of "Pieśni nadolziańskie", being an interpretation of Cieszyn folk melodies. Young hymns from opus 2 "Na rozstanie" and "Nie wolno mi o Tobie śnić", as well as a composition to the poem by Tetmajer "Wykołysałem Cię" have been slightly forgotten.

There will be no further revolution

Kolejnej rewolucji nie będzie

Author(s): Dobrosława Wężowicz-Ziółkowska / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 2/2013

Keywords: Laboratorium Kultury; Bronislaw Malinowski; Bronisław Malinowski;

Bronislaw Malinowski’s A Diary in the Strict Sense of the Term, Published in 1967 or Dziennik w ścisłym znaczeniu tego wyrazu (Polish edition: Kraków 2002) was the cause for an important change in the already existing paradigm – it considerably inspired James Clifford’s and Clifford Geertz’s interpretative anthropology. In 2012, a polish edition of another Malinowski’s “work” has been published – a correspondence with his first wife, Elsie Masson. The author of a review presents the correspondence with a reflection upon if it will cause a revolution in social sciences. While putting an emphasis on the documentary importance of the edition, the author states, that this time, there will be no revolution, because the hieratic portrait of the master of anthropology was already deconstructed in a revolutionary way through A Diary… Simultaneously, the author ponders upon the demonstrative nature of Malinowki’s women actions – Anna Valetta Hayman-Joyce, who decided on making known to the public A Diary in the Strict Sense of the Term, and Helena Wayne, who complied and prepared for printing the letters of her parents, Bronio and Elsie. Are they an expression of acceptance of the great scholar and his field work practices, or, on the contrary, are they a way of painting a moustache, like Duchamps did once to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, and initiated the Avant-garde movement? We do not know the answer to this question, although the reception of the The story of a marriage should be observed closely.
