Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is the identification of specialized (responsible for the creation of a town, exogenous) functions of Wrocław as well as the analysis of the transformation of the functional structure of the city in the years 1995-2010. Studies were carried out on the size, structure and changes in the employment. The study was made on the ground of the theory of the base of the economic cities, using two meters: indicator of surplus workers (WNP) and the Florence’a coefficient of specialization (WSF).
