Theatrical activity as extracurricular or extraprofessional can be extremely beneficial for both children and adults. It can provide balance, can bring harmony at a psychophysical level, leads to self-discovery, eliminates mechanisms already in place, developing communication skills... But all this can only be obtained if the method is a professional one, based on true competences in theatrical pedagogy, on the desire for direct and continuous experimentation, on respect and responsibility toward the individual, whatever his age. Empirically practiced, theater becomes an additional source of stress, mechanization, isolation and it`s losing the extraordinary educational, therapeutic and fun part.

The present article aims to illustrate the specific ways in which theatrical pedagogy builds the student-actor's personality. The education process of the drama school has two important sides: instruction and education. By instruction the future student-actor gets to see beyond what is seen, to hear beyond what is heard and understand beyond words and through education he improves his biophysical and psychological potential seen as a whole, thus preparing to respond to unpredictable demands which he will encounter both in life and theatre. Being oriented towards self-knowledge, not only knowledge, theatrical education outperforms the traditional education, by developing the individual in a group, helping to develop his capacity to work and function effectively in a team.

Small, but well organized, the Italian community from Bucharest contributed culturally, as well, to the growth of modern Romania because of its role of catalyst of creative energies. The means through which they acted in the Romanian society were educational, literary, theatrical and artistic and the element of unity was the one of common identity originating from Latinity. The involvement of Italians in the cultural life was under the form of many tours of famous actors that graced the great stages of the world: Adelaida Ristori, Ernesto Rossi, Ermete Novelli and Tommaso Salvini, who put Bucharest on the cultural map of the great capitals of Europe. The presence of these great Italian artists stimulated the growth of the theatrical life and enabled the development a Great Theatre, as the National Theatre was called, whose repertoire included translations from the French and German dramaturgy while the Italian one was to be promoted at the highest forms of manifestation at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

Teaching foreign languages in the traditionaleducational system of Romania is a subject that hasraised and continues to raise interest in what concernsthe lack of motivation for students to learn and deepena foreign language in classroom. Despite the efforts thatare made in order to improve the formal learning processthrough the implementation of new teaching methods, foreign languages are still assimilated with difficultyand practiced in reduced number. French is a foreignlanguage that is studied in Romania since primary school. However most students encounter difficulties in learningthis language from the very beginning so that they endup not deepening the information given and maintainingthe same level of training even in middle school or highschool. Seeing the fact that, nowadays, students need a surplus that can motivate them to improve the level of a foreign language such as French and practice the language itself, our goal is to interfere in the learning process of students from middle school and highschool by proposing a series of theatrical techniques in the non-formal setting that can encourage verbal communication in French and can improve students’s level of preparation and the results in this discipline.

The article considers narrative strategies of the creation of the effect of the reader’sinvolvement in the protagonist’s life experience in Tamara Horiha Zernia’s novel Dotsya, which is devotedto the important problem of today — the war on the east of Ukraine. The theoretical frameworkof the study is based on Monika Fludernik’s cognitive-narratological conception of experientialityreferring to the idea of the reader’s familiarization with a character’s experience by narrative means.Three strategies of creating the experientiality in this novel are seen as the most important: mimetismwhile reflecting the region realities, manipulation by the category of local identity, and vividemotionality of the novel’s narrative. The protagonist’s depersonalization, the display of corporalreactions and the inclusion of invective digressions into the fictional discourse are considered asprevailing patterns of emotional expression.

The opera genre is recently subjected to an accelerated process of investment with theatrical techniques and a new language of theatricality. Saint François d’Assise written by the French composer Olivier Messiaen is based on new expressions in musical language: from the ancient greek melos until the indian harmonic structures and Oriental rythms, the colour which is transformed into sound, etc. He also suggests new musical images, capable of adapting the old eficacity of the medieval miracle plays to the contemporary sensitivity and comprehension. The essay is focused on three versions of stage directions, Peter Sellars, Pierre Audi, Hermann Nitsch, tracing the strategies of both expression and meanings of the musical discourse, transformed in „spectacular text” through non-conformistic methods (video art, naive expressionism, ritual).

The current pandemic and its restrictions, such as the delaying or canceling of cultural events, self-quarantining and limited access to public spaces, have determined the cultural industry, including theaters, to develop new ways and formats in order to function. These changes have been necessary to maintain a specific level of culture consumption. People active in the artistic field, festival organizers and theaters have faced many challenges, the greatest of them being the perpetuation of the creative act, maintaining contact with the public, as well as distributing the artistic products in absence of an audience and its appreciation.
