Sacred Art, a Core Value in the Cultural-Artistic Rethinking and Visual Practice

Author(s): Georgeta Merişor Dominte,Marina Vraciu,Bogdan Cojocea,Stelian Onica / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: Sacred Art; core value; rethinking cultural-artistic practice; transitoriness; permanence; sacred geography; heritage preservation; visual artistic education.

In a postmodern world which hosts a mix of cultural values, Sacred Art brings into focus the sublimation of the form of representation. This makes Sacred Art a core value in the cultural-artistic rethinking and in the visual practice. On the other hand, in its relationship to society, the moral component supported by Sacred Art in Christianity represents a core value which offers cultural and artistic rethinking and visual practice a chance for spiritual revigoration. For over two decades, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” in Iaşi has shaped and developed artistic and heritage preservation skills to generations of students educated to protect the Chruch Heritage and revive Sacred Art. The study of art history involeved in this process brings in signs of the sacred from around the world which show a constancy in their choice of location, shape and their function of signalling the presence of the sacred, which relies on their aesthetic component. Sacred Art has empowered the core human need of the sacred as related to certain locations in the world and to the very places where it is taught and practiced. This paper presents some of the results – in their theoretical and applied aspects – with reference to iconographic art and its weight in the professional training of those who can continue to create, protect and remake (by conservation and restauration) mostly heritage items. Some activities, forms of artistic expression and implications to support preservation of objects as accomplished by students and graduates of our division have been chosen to illustrate this aspect. The purpose of the work is to bring into discussion the role and place of sacred art in today’s society, where it rests a moral and a cultural landmark.

Verbal Clichés and Their Use in Everyday Speech – a Few Semantic, Syntactic and Pragmatic Considerations

Author(s): Cipriana-Elena Peica / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: linguistic clichés; wooden language; syntactic; pragmatic; everyday speech.

The complexity of the human language manifested through the multiple forms of transmitting a message in a communication was, is and will be perceived by the speakers of a language, but at the same time it was, is and will be studied by linguists in general, and by pragmatists in particular. The major differences between what is said through a linguistic material and what is actually intended to be conveyed, and the countless ways in which this can be achieved are a rich study material. Linguistic ambiguities in daily conversations are also created due to verbal clichés which are so widely used in daily, political, and media discourse. In this paper, we will refer both to meaning, context and ambiguity, the three essential elements for the creation, conveyance, reception and especially interpretation of a message, and to the importance of the semantic, morphological, syntactic and pragmatic features in the formulation of verbal clichés, in the formation of the wooden language.

SMART CITY – NEW CONCEPT IN CIVIL-MILITARY PLANNING

Author(s): Sorina-Georgiana Rusu / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: smart city; offensive city; civil-military planning; urban security; resilience;

Within history, armed clashes have dramatically affected the urban localities,where there were strategic objectives, but also a significant population. Nowadays, the city hasbecome a target by attacks which destroy the urban area and irreversibly affect the population.City’s resistance is in great difficulty, involving within defensive actions not only its own community,but also the international organizations whose mission is to maintain peace.In present days, the “smart city” term generates ample debates and polemics. The defense of intelligent cities should be positioned into an offensive area, based on the configuration of this new type of city.Defense actions in the smart city have to respect the particularities of the battle within urban terrain, analyzing the dimensions of the kinetic territory and taking into consideration the intensity of the aerial actions, targeting not only the actual attack, but also collecting data with drones. In this context, synergy is the essential condition for success in the civil-military planning process of a smart city.

Author(s): Cristian Liviu Vele / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: Leadership; organizational change; creativity; strategy; competitive advantage

Every organization wants and need employees that perform at their best in each and every aspect of their work. This, in terms, leads to an increase in organizational efficiency and to the development of competitive advantages in relationship with other competitors. But how can organizations develop a working environment in which employees give their full commitment to organizational strategic goals? What are the cultural elements that drive people to develop the necessary beliefs and behaviors in order to fully commit to an organization? In what manner does the leadership of an organization contribute to the increase of individual commitment? The main objective of this article is to identify and analyze possible correlations between certain elements of transformational leadership and employee commitment. One of the main challenges that companies face in present times is the constant shift in the business environment that requires a high level of flexibility and adaptation. Given the fact that employees are the company’s front line by coming in contact with customers, it is paramount that their behavior and commitment is focused on providing the highest value for the market. For this reason, managers need to fully understand how to motivate individuals in order to become completely involved in their work and in offering their contribution to organizational success. The findings presented in the paper can help managers and leaders in their efforts to retain employees and to increase their involvement in the long-term sustainable development of the organization in which they work.

Effects of the Syrian Civil War on Children: Socio-Psychological Effects

Author(s): Ali Askerov / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: Turkey; Syria; civil war; children; socio-psychological effects;

The war in Syria has many dimensions. It is true that it is a civil war, as well as it is an international war. Yet, it is a war against terror. The citizens of the same country fight against each other, foreign forces participate in the fight to defend their own interests, while certain terrorist and counter-terrorist acts take place in the country. While the UN can’t play any effective role in managing the conflict constructively, many external and internal powers, such as Russia, Iran, the US, and Turkey, try to design a new order in the country. At the same time some illegal organizations such as PYD/PYG and ISIS try to obtain a more favorable position and legitimate their status. All the local and international actors, as well as legitimate and illegitimate players want to gain more leverage in Syria. The civilian population of the country has suffered from the very beginning of the civil war gravely. One segment of the civilians that has suffered tremendously is children.

Relational Approaches to the Resilience of Operational Logistics

Author(s): Gheorghe MINCULETE / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: joint operations; operational forces; logistical support; resilience; operational logistics;

The demands of modern warfare imposed by technological innovation and digitalisation have made operational forces prepare and act in a highly complex confrontational environment, which entails increasing resilience and flexibility. The management and execution structures of the logistic support systemically integrated in the operational devices of the joint forces are prepared and act in their turn in the conditions of increased risks, which causes them to become increasingly resilient. Knowing that during the two Gulf conflicts, the logistic losses of the responsible structures far exceeded those of the fighting and support forces, I consider that it is all the more necessary to study, design and implement the requirements to increase resilience of the operational logistical forces, for the fulfilment of future missions. In this scientific communication I address, from a relational point of view, the issue of resilience of logistics systems (subsystems) integrated with operational forces acting at the tactical and joint levels.

The Impact of the Security Environment on the Defence Strategies of Small and Medium States

Author(s): Ioana Rieber / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

The dynamic of regional and global changes implies the existence of strategies that allow the streamlining of the activity of defence and security structures. Depending on the risks, vulnerabilities and threats that must be approached militarily or non-militarily, the medium and small states have drafted strategic documents, taking into account the internal and external dimension of security. Their security depends on a great extent on external factors, the turbulences from the international system posing a serious challenge for a small state. If small and medium states are placed in the vicinity of a great revisionist, undemocratic power, its security can be achieved only by creative strategies. The emphasis is therefore laid on the existence of flexible and powerful military capabilities, necessary to identify and counter the threats and on membership of alliances/coalitions of alliances.

Aspects of Salary Reduction in the Context of the Epidemiological Situation Determined by the Spread of the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus

Author(s): Ana Vidat / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: individual employment contract; salary; change; economic crisis; alert status; protection measure;

The salary, established by individual negotiation, can be modified, as a rule, only by the agreement of the contracting parties – in compliance with the provisions of art. 38 of the Labour Code. However, in the field of individual labour relations, the incidental legal regulations also provide for some hypotheses of unilateral reduction of the contractual element seen in the above. For example, the modification of the collective labour contract – in the private sector – through the adopted laws, determines the modification of the individual labour contract (because art. 132 paragraph 4 of Law no. 62/2011 of the social dialogue specifies: “the individual labour contract may not contain clauses establishing rights at lower levels than those established by the applicable collective bargaining agreements”).

Evaluation os sustainability of construction materials exposed to lab conditions by testing in simulated environments

Evaluarea durabilităţii materialelor de construcţie expuse condiţiilor de laborator prin testare în mediu simulat

Author(s): Marius MÂRŢ,Florina FILIP,Monica Cherecheş,,Adrian-Alexandru Ciobanu,Aurelia Bradu / Language(s): Romanian / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: building envelopes; thermal conductivity; aging; thermal behavior

In the context of the built environment, the energy consumption of a building is strongly dependent on the characteristics of its envelope. The thermal performance of external walls represents a key factor that can improve the energy efficiency of buildings. Thermal insulation materials play an important role in this scenario, by taking into account the characteristics of the insulation layer. High-quality materials must retain their characteristics as in the early stages, not only in terms of thermal insulation properties, but also through the ability to withstand long-term operating loads without a significant change throughout lifetime. This concept is applied at the material level, at the system level and at the building level. Materials obtained from petrochemicals as polystyrene or from natural sources processed with high-energy consumptions such as glass and rock wools, are commonly utilized for the insulation of buildings. From the perspective of sustainable development, the lack of durability of the insulation materials can lead to the failure of the envelope system, so that must be understood in quantitative terms. The aim of the paper is to establish the evolution of deterioration over time (long-term decrease in thermal resistance) and how the durability of insulating materials is influenced in supporting a long-term performance regime. The study also evaluates current research on the durability of insulating materials in the context of the technical aspects of laboratory tests.

Influence of test form on the cement compression strength

Influenţa formei probelor asupra rezistenţei la compresiune a cimentului

Author(s): Aurelia Bradu,Adrian-Alexandru Ciobanu,Monica Cherecheş,,Florina FILIP,Marius MÂRŢ / Language(s): Romanian / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: cement; mortar; compressive strength;

Cement has an essential role in concrete composition, its dosage is established for technical and economic reasons. The cement is a mineral powdery material obtained from a chain of operations, which ends by grinding the Portland clinker, together with the addition of 2-4% gypsum to systematize the setting time. The cement quality is influenced by the particle specific surface and the mechanical resistances. The admissible limits of mineralogical composition variation are indicated in SR EN 197-1. In this paper, a comparative study of the cement resistance was performed at 48 hours, 7 days and 28 days on cubic specimens and halves of prisms. The following materials were used to prepare the mortars: cement type CEM II A-M (S-LL) 32.5 R, standardized sand CEN according to SR EN 196-1, water. The mortar was prepared mechanized by mixer ELE designed to mix mortars and cement pastes in accordance with SR EN 196-1. Immediately after mixing the mortar it was placed in the mould and compacted. The samples were immersed in water and kept until the test age: 2 days, 7 days and 28 days. The prismatic specimens were initially subjected to bending to halve the samples. The compressive strength was determined on cubic specimens and on the halves of the prisms resulting from bending. The specimens were removed from the water 15 minutes before perform the tests. The method of destroying cubic and the prism halves specimens corresponds to the prototypes specified in standards. The shape of the samples after the completion of the tests being similar to two overlapping cone trunks, joined by small bases. The values of compressive strength determined on cubic specimens were lower in all test subjects. The results of the experimental study performed, showed lower values for cubic specimens at all test terms. The compressive strength determined at 48 h after casting on the prism halves was with 30.06% higher than that obtained on cubes specimen, this difference being attenuated with the maturation of the cement stone. This phenomenon can be explained by the higher tangential forces developed along the lengths of the prism halves.

The Entrepreneurial Spirit of the Manager

Author(s): Monica-Mihaela Beşcu / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: management;quality;entrepreneurial;education;educational;

Through this article we want to emphasize the importance of educational management. We are also interested in whether the manager of an educational institution has or should have an entrepreneurial spirit. In recent years, special emphasis has been placed on educational management. We observe a tendency towards interdisciplinarity in the Romanian education and the necessity of the presence of the entrepreneurial spirit in the educational institutions. Entrepreneurship and management have a close connection that we will discuss in the following article. Thus, our attention was drawn to the need for entrepreneurship in management positions. The special importance given to educational management, leadership and entrepreneurship has led us to approach this interesting topic. Abstract: The kindergarten and the family have an essential role in the harmonious development of the child. It is very important to have a close connection between the kindergarten and the child's family to be able to work together on his development. The kindergarten must always collaborate with the child's family, because the parents must be considered partners by the educator in the children's education, in the process of their development. Between the kindergarten and the family, there must be a permanent relationship of collaboration, which should be maintained through the realization of the educational partnership between the kindergarten and the family. The kindergarten-family educational partnership has an important role in the child's development, because through the activities within it, pluses are brought in the child's development. Both the kindergarten and the family have their well-established role in the kindergarten-family partnership and each one tries to do his part to be able to achieve something for the good of the children together, because this is the common goal of the two educational environments, that of working together on children's development, and to train him to be able to integrate into society. Therefore, the collaboration between the kindergarten and the family has a very important role in the harmonious development of the child. Keywords: collaboration; development; kindergarten; family; child.

Author(s): Robert A. Sucharski / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

Keywords: Joe Alex; Maciej Słomczyński; Czarne okręty; Minoan Thalassocrasy; Bildungsroman

Maciej Słomczyński, writer, poet and playwright, a prominent translator of English literature and the author of the acclaimed crime fiction stories, published under the pseudonym Joe Alex, is also the author of the historical-adventure novel for youth "Czarne okręty" [Black Ships]. Originally published in parts as a series, the novel follows the adventures of a Trojan boy, entangled in the intrigues of Egyptian priests and conspiracies of the rulers of Minoan Crete, and finally going for a quest to the Far North in search of the mythical land of amber. The quest, resembling – due to its exoticism – the Expedition of the Argonauts, despite ostensible success ends in fact in a disaster, and the novel itself can be used as an example of a specific type of Bildungsroman dressed in ancient robes.
