Summary/Abstract: Italy presides over the Council of the European Union from July 1 to December 31, 2014. Italy took over the role of president of the Council of the European Union from Greece, which coordinated its work, defined thematic priorities and mediated relations with other institutions of the European Union (EU) in the first half of the year. This is Italy's 12th presidency of the EU Council.
