Summary/Abstract: Latvia holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union from January 1 to June 30, 2015. Latvia took over the role of chairman of the Council of the European Union from Italy, which coordinated its work, defined thematic priorities and mediated relations with other institutions of the European Union (EU) in the second half of 2014. This is Latvia's first presidency of the Council of the EU.
