Summary/Abstract: The Netherlands presides over the Council of the European Union from January 1 to June 30, 2016. The Netherlands took over the role of chairman of the Council of the European Union from Luxembourg, which coordinated its work, defined thematic priorities and mediated relations with other institutions of the European Union (EU) in the second half of 2015. This is the twelfth presidency of the EU Council for the Netherlands.
