Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the concept of economic righteousness and its role in establishing a strong political community. Theories of exchange in the works by the Ancient philosopher Aristotle and French contemporary thinker Marcel Mauss will be presented. Both thinkers consider exchange a social activity which play an important role in promoting moral life, preservation of good interpersonal relations and strengthening coherence of a community.
