Summary/Abstract: The subject-predicate relationship is an ongoing topic of debate,as linguists still have divergent opinions on it. According to L. Tesnier’s structuralist theory, the subject is subordinate to the predicate. In traditional grammar, some linguists have settled on the subordination of the subject, whereas others agree upon the subordinate nature of the relationship, but believe that the predicate is subordinate. A third group is inclined to see it as a subject-predicate relationship of inherence.
