Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this report is to present an up-to-date “snapshot” of the state of professional field 3.3 “Political Sciences” in Bulgaria from the point of view of their institutional and thematic dimensions. First, the academic institutional framework of political science is outlined based on data in which universities in the country still have departments of political science and train political scientists. Political science is then placed in the context of its cognate higher education field 3. “Social, economic and legal sciences” to highlight important quantitative parameters. The second part of the report is devoted to an overview analysis of the research topics in three main categories: dissertations for the acquisition of the PhD degree; the habilitation theses and the dissertations for the acquisition of the scientific degree “Doctor of Sciences”. The analysis is based entirely on official data from the Register of Academic Staff administered by NACID.
