Summary/Abstract: The report examines the problems of the crisis of the modern university as an institution and of the teaching of political science. The position is defended that the role of the humanities in general and political science in particular is extremely important in overcoming the contemporary crisis of the university as an institution. Based on the classical understanding of the university’s mission, the author reflects on the questions: Are modern universities in crisis as an institution?; What is the nature of the crisis?; What are the manifestations and causes of this crisis?; Is political science in crisis?; How can the aforementioned crisis be overcome?; What are the acceptable limits of compromise in teaching in order to comply with the demands of the “educational market”?; How to achieve a balance between classics, modernity and postmodernity in the teaching of political science?; How to combine the required specialized knowledge with the emerging trends towards interdisciplinarity in research?; How to respond to new technological challenges in the face of artificial intelligence, for example?
