Summary/Abstract: The main goal of the report is an attempt to redefine the concepts of liberal democracy and market economy/capitalism, which are losing real meaning in Western countries in a changing world, when the USA is gradually losing its role as a world hegemon in parallel with the decline of Western liberal/neoliberal hegemony. I will try to justify two statements regarding the movement of the political and economic system in Western countries: a) from a liberal-democratic to a more oligarchic political system and b) from a capitalist market economy to neoliberal capitalism/globalism. I will use two main research methods: world-systems analysis (Im. Wallerstein) and a political-economic approach (within a nation-state).
