Summary/Abstract: The subject of this study is Bulgarian-Japanese economic relations after Bulgaria's admission into the EU on January 1, 2007. Expectations for increased economic development are justified for Bulgaria, mainly in its trade relations with the EU member states, but apply to a smaller extent in economic relations with Japan. Even as a member state of one of the largest economic unions in the world, Bulgarian goods have difficulty finding a place on the Japanese market, and services from Bulgarian companies occupy a very small place in bilateral economic relations. The study used data related to imports, exports, trade turnover, trade balance and the main traded goods, as well as significant investments.
