Summary/Abstract: The article discusses several aspects related to the reciprocal relationship between language and thought, attempting to illustrate why this relationship is a “burden” for researchers. Taking the belief in the polymorphic nature of human thought as a point of reference, several types of thinking are “documented” (making use of both linguistic and extralinguistic, non-verbal means). The article concludes that, in general, thought presents itself as a symbiosis of diverse types of thinking.
