THE ROLE OF THE VEGETAL FORENSIC BOTANY IN THE RESOLUTION OF CRIMINAL CASES

Summary/Abstract: The herewith paper approaches a very important theme for the forensics theory, but especially for the forensic practice in Romania, tangentially presented, for information purposes in the specialty works in our country and almost not at all by the forensic specialists: “the capitalization of the vegetal samples in the judicial process, through vegetal forensic botany expertise”. We shall systematically expose the group of knowledge which vegetal forensic botany shows in relation to vegetal samples, proving that it can be considered an independent science, with its own object and lawfulness.We shall also present the connections which vegetal forensic botany has with other sciences such as: forensics, botany, anatomy, taxonomy, physics, IT, etc. For the strictness of our scientific steps, we shall define the vegetal trace, we shall establish the scientific classification criteria of vegetal traces, adn we shall submit the importance they have in the judicial process, to find out the truth. In the end we shall define the forensic botany expertise and will present its importance and the problems the forensic botany expert can clarify in a criminal case. This article shall be part of an unpublished paper which shall be published, in premiere, in the specialty literature in our country.
