Summary/Abstract: The article traces the history and development of field hockey in the world and presents the current state of this sport at the institutions of higher education in Bulgaria. The approach used by the authors combine data acquisition and analysis of information obtained from references of different nature. The results of study have shown the increasing interest of Bulgarian students to field hockey and the possibilities for expanding its spatial scope.
