Summary/Abstract: Phraseologisms play a central role in youth language and clearly illustrate how flexible and adaptable fixed linguistic patterns become in digital discourse. This article examines, on the basis of a Reddit corpus, how traditional proverbs are creatively modified through processes such as substitution, contamination, permutation, and inversion. The analysis shows that these transformations generate humorous and ironic effects and enable group-specific communicative positioning. Based on these findings, the article formulates didactic suggestions demonstrating how the creative use of youth-language phraseologisms can be incorporated into motivating and reflective learning activities in the context of teaching German as a foreign language.
