Summary/Abstract: The paper will analyze the influence of terrorism on modern society and literature on the example of work Really ground zero written by Austrian author Kathrin Röggla. During the attack on WTC on September 11, 2001, the author was only a kilometer away from the place of the event. Using the elements of pop-literature, pop-culture, colloquial speech and even photography she shows the newly arisen situation in New York. The work is composed of the series of texts in which she surpasses everything a human can experience by the structure of events, testimonies of New York citizens and poetics of her writing. All the elements of pop-literature used in this work have a role to show us perversion of the modern society, society which functions with the help of mobile phones, society which in crisis situation does not possess the real know how, society which develops the so called Catastrophe Tourism (Katastrophentourismus) after big catastrophe. Combining all the mentioned elements, the author clearly visualizes the problem of terrorism and its influence on everyday life and consequently on literature. She creates a unique and real picture of life in New York in which terrorism became inseparable from reality and pervades all the spheres of life after “9/11”. She also emphasizes that Ground zero does not mark only the place where the attack happened but also the zero point in literature i.e. the new beginning in literature. The author thinks that after “9/11” writers do not retell anymore, but start to collect facts, report and realize what happened.
