Summary/Abstract: Phraseology as a linguistic discipline does not have long tradition, but that does not alleviate its importance either within one language or in contrasting two languages. Translation of phraseological terms in literary works is an interesting and topical part of contrastive linguistics. While translating it is not always possible to find the adequate equivalent in the target language, therefore it is better to use descriptive translation in those cases in order not to loose splendor and expressivity of a certain image. This paper deals with contrastive analysis of phraseological terms in Andrić’s short stories and their translations in German. In analysis special attention is paid to structural characteristics of phrasemes and their mutual full, partial or zero equivalence.
