On The Power Of Speech In Traditional Bulgarian Wishes And Blessings

Summary/Abstract: This article analyses language and spiritual characteristics of traditional Bulgarianwishes and blessings. They are bright illustration of national mentality and spirit,of rich and expressive Bulgarian language. These traditional speech models have a formof idiomatic phrases with positive impact. They have been repeated in oral speech andtransfer from one generation to another. In this long way in time some of them havebeen lost and they do not use in present oral communication. Another ones are used byBulgarian speaking people today. The author presents her observations about languageand spiritual characteristics of traditional wishes and blessings, collected by Mariana Dabeva in her book “Wishes and blessings of Bulgarian people” (1937).
