Summary/Abstract: Some methods of teaching in the Translation (German-Bulgarian) discipline in the specialty “German studies with an elective module of Scandinavian languages” are thematized in the paper. The discipline aims at developing students’ skills to motivate their translation decisions in a specific context by using the conceptual toolkit of the already studied philological disciplines. The object of study are positions of deviating rendition of the original in the published Bulgarian translation of the novel I’m Not Stiller (German title: Stiller) by the Swiss author Max Frisch. An algorithm of three steps in the analysis of the differences between the text in German and the text in Bulgarian is presented and options for their overcoming are pointed out.
