Summary/Abstract: Ethnological works on Serbs in Hungary are viewed in the light of what was published in the proceedings of the Békéscsaba conferences (1975–2004), the journals Ethnography of the South Slavs (1975–1993) and Ethnography of Serbs in Hungary (1997–), only one issue of Folklór és tradíció (VII, 1994), as well as some articles and books published in the last four decades in Serbia and Hungary in the Serbian language. Thematic classification has been carried out on works that relate to Serbs in Hungary, ethnolinguistic syntheses, family studies, a historical and archival compendium on the optira, but also historical novels from the past of Serbs in Hungary and optans in Serbia, all in accordance with the understanding that analytical monographs precede and complement synthetic work. All of the above, with the addition of a sociological study on the indigenous population and an analysis of statistical data on Serbs in Hungary, fits very well with the broadly understood issues of ethnological sciences. In addition, popular scientific activity has not been forgotten.
