Summary/Abstract: The attempt at European and Euro-Atlantic integration represents a dual strategy for Romania's return to institutional Europe: accession to the ranks of the European Union (EU) (with other consequences: better integration into the global economy and a growth boost that one would not otherwise imagine) and admission to the security structures of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which has become a reality following the Prague decision and our country's effective accession to the Atlantic Alliance. But we will mainly focus here on the steps aimed at establishing cooperation leading to our country's association with the European Union, the ultimate goal of which is, of course, to join the Union.
