Summary/Abstract: In the light of the recent European elections and the beginning of the next institutional cycle, the European Union is experiencing unprecedented challenges, in terms of both legitimacy and accountability of its institutions and in geopolitical aspect. In November 2023, the EP presented a Resolution for amendments of the Treaties, only a few months after France and Germany presented their „Sailing on High Seas“ report – for enlarging and reforming the EU. This paper aims to analyze the main feature of the proposed reforms and focuses on the role of the European Parliament for the institutional building of the EU, as well as Bulgaria’s position regarding these proposals.
