Summary/Abstract: The starting point of the research was the task of gathering the earliest publications Boris Aprilov authored for the newspapers in Burgas prior to 1946. Their exhaustive list remains an ongoing project overshadowed by the symbiosis of writing and modern city dynamics. The story about the themes of the fledgling reporter - and the genres through which he explores them - transformed into a closer look at the modern advancements of Bulgarian society and culture at that time, closely followed by the examination of the penmanship style of the modern author and the incursion of the literary supplement in the daily newspaper. The young reporter intended to collect all his journalistic publications in a book called My Burgas, Dispatches. The writer’s early prose is ripe with subjects and characters explored in his later autobiographical prose from 1980s. The outline of the modern city lies between the mimesis and the effort to conceptualise. The journey throughout the author’s texts and their historical contexts demanded varied scientific approaches and perspectives at the intersections of the textual criticism and the cultural and historical analysis; the history of text and the generative nuclei of textual buildup; the early and the later oeuvre of the author.
