- Summary/Abstract:The purpose of this research is to describe the social space of parliamentary speeches. There are two key aspects of the social space mentioned in the article. First aspect refers to the audience of parliamentary performances. Second aspect raises the question of proxemics in the Polish Sejm. Physical space with its centre, peripherals, backstage and borders influence upon social interaction. This research highlights the importance of the social space in shaping the character and quality of Parliamentary debate.

- Summary/Abstract:This paper analyzes actions taken by the Marshals of the Polish Parliament to control the emotions that appear in the parliamentary hall during the meeting and debates. The author has focused on interactional techniques (both formal and informal) used by the marshals to conduct the parliamentary debate in the most effective way. This article aims to analyze techniques, which are at Marshallʼs disposal in order to prevent Parliamentary debates from getting disturbed by emotions.

- Summary/Abstract:Quoting other peopleʼs arguments by politicians, to rely on someone elseʼs work is rarely seen, but often causing extreme emotions. Recalling (especially inaccurate) the fragment from foreign language authors can cause misunderstanding, confusion of content and change the original meaning. The rhetorical device of this kind can be traced and watched several times by access to the media, what was done in our sociological analysis. Politicians, like actors, through the selection of specific measures of self-presentation (in this case, quotations from literature, cite the author of the widely known) provide customers reality as amended, such that they would like to be seen (Goffman 2008). The analyzed verbal speech in the Sejm were characterized by a strong emotional tone and illustrates language, that is far from the classical canons of savoir vivre (Marcjanik 2014; Achtelik, Tambor 2013). Verbal bon ton in parliament has, through its application, fulfilled many functions, from polite sarcasm through the manifesto of the supremacy, to the personal presentation of erudition. At the outset, the author describes leading concepts used in the chapter. In the next part the author addresses the videos with the participation of politicians who during their public appearances quoted of another authors. In summary the author of the chapter focuses on the function of citations and there are taken into account the positive aspects of using the prose/poetry by individuals elected to public office.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of the article is an analysis of parliamentary speeches, both the verbal and non-verbal terms of the occurrence of an ironic attitude among the leading political actors. Visual analysis was extremely helpful in order to investigate actions, interactions, interpretative and communication processes, drawing the benefits from the achievements of interpretative and interactionist sociology. Visual analysis was used to describe and interpret emotional reactions of the political scene’s leading figures due to the applied irony. For this purpose, the following roles played by politicians in the parliamentary hall were highlighted: ironists, victims of irony and irony observers.

- Summary/Abstract:The article aims to examine whether the language of contemporary politicians includes elements of newspeak, as well as what role the emotions play in the newspeak. The starting point of the analysis is a typology of characteristics of contemporary Newspeak created by M. Głowiński, that contains such a elements as: dichotomous view of the world, the idea of the enemy, conspiracy vision of the world. On the basis of typology by M. Głowiński, the article analyzes verbal and non-verbal behavior of three politicians: Jaroslaw Kaczynski, Janusz Palikot, and deceased founder of the political party Samoobrona (Self-defence), Andrzej Lepper.
